The SPIT podcast is driving me away from RUclips, just as the WSL is driving the core fan base. Seriously, we canโt play the full SPIT intro while on the RUclips platform?? Just like the star spangled banner, the intro gets my blood pumping and in the right frame of mind to fully dive in and indulge. I am one of the OG RUclips switchovers, please donโt make me go back to podcast form, it would be like going from 3D back to 2D.

For guys that don't think surfing is a sport our guys spend quite a bit of time talking about the sport of surfing.โค

@@SurfSplendor It is a sport a hobby and something else. I'm not about to commit to a thesis on the subject but I feel the proof is in the history. Theres been comps for over 50 years and they constently reward the best surfers. Not always but most of the time the most skilled surfers are at the top.
LOVED the TRESSLES history lesson. I lived in Encinitas for 6mo doing the beach bum thing chasing surf as a beginner but unfortunately was too intimidated to try TRESSLES. I had no clue how prestigious it was. I wish I had, I could have used the consistency

Pro surfing should run their competitive events around single swell events that are in the water and can be forecast, the waiting period is stupid and the local on the beach thing is a distraction and confuses the people guiding the sport. Niche down, focus on the core, the waves, stop making the surfers into robots, and put the surfers in the best conditions. It's like formula one drivers racing Honda Accords or rock climbers doing easy routes; it would never happen so why can't the stewards figure that out. The only trestles event I can even remember was Kelly in his star shorts? black and white? I'm not looking it up but my point is I don't care what happens there and I only will if a lot of things line up: if the whole tour is compelling, with interesting personalities and competition, real drama imo, I could be interested in see Kelly versus AI at Lowers but in general it's a nothing for me to watch it.
you're spot on jt! I guess we've all been thinking this for years. I think the major problem is that the current "stewards" have been less CORE and more CORPorate. Star trunks, black and white and a 19 year old KS surfing magical Trestles that year (I'm also not looking it up but maybe 1990)
For us old school San Clementeans SC is a joke nowadays killed by development
