I bought this for my aventon level and it didn’t work at first (plug and play). It did take a charge. I did some testing and noticed the larger black wire wasn’t completing the circuit. I spliced all the black wires together and it appears to be working now. I just bought another R4 and it worked straight out of the box. Now I have 3 working batteries for my bike!!! Thank you for supplying these!
Ive done this with multiple bird scooter batteries. All left for dead. Despise the company/s for not taking any responsibility for the trash they leave in every major city in America.. could of saved lives in Texas and all over the world with all that power they left for pollution in landfills, waterways etc. .thanks for showing an example of a renewable energy solution source for anyone in need.
I bought this battery from Jag35 (along with some others I use). Needed the male connector for it. Hard to find. Aliexpress has the connector for $40 bucks with key. Waiting on delivery. Do not know if it will have wires attached.... Aventon sold me the discharge connector with wires attached for $10.99. Just received it. The two positives have a small wire connecting them together. Positive Main has a JST connector to NegativeB (middle negative). I am pretty sure it is for charging since the 4 pin connector blocks the barrel plug charge port when mounted. Hope this helps. Recap. Positive and negative have 14g wires. Small wire connects both positives. Small wire from Main Positive (on the end) goes to a 2pin JST connector. Another small wire from secondary negative (middle-one) goes to same connector in the other pin slot.
I have an Aventon eBike that these batteries are designed for, so took the risk and purchased one. It was most definitely not new, with scuffs and a bit of dirt on the battery. It also does not work in the bike, or with the stock charger. The charger just turns green instantly, and in the bike the screen either won't turn on or just flashes low batt for half a second. Doing the trick in this video let me verify that the battery does have actual voltage (54.1v) and let me both charge and discharge the battery. I think either the BMS is bad or it is in protection mode for a reason, and connecting the wires this way is bypassing it. So maybe good for salvaging cells, but don't plan on using this in a bike as is.
Do you know the name of the 4 blade connector? My battery charged just fine on the barrel plug connector. I have no way of knowing how to find this connector. Thanks!
Question about charging I'm new. Just received my battery it looks beautiful! Thank you.i watched your video on how to make the BMS work.. I want to charge it so I just jump out those wires and start charging?
I’m wondering the same thing because I bought one from the Aventon doesn’t work because I have v1 and the battery is the v2 Doesn’t work on my bike without replacing a chip that connects the battery
great stuff, change the ?? how to wake up an ALLPOWERS solar generator ?when charging it shows HELLO and full power, then it shuts down and will not power up
So it seems you can do this hack with hooking A to the positive and B to the negative but it seems if you leave them connected like that it kills the battery over night so I would recommend making it like he did with the double connector so you can unhook the B and A wires. So it doesn't kill battery overnight. Might just be mine but it's happened twice now charged to full rode the bike for 10 miles recharged for a few hours then unhooked and left over night battery dead. Charged battery for 5 hours till 80% rode bike around just fine then left over night again hooked up and battery dead again in the morning.
Great info. I have a couple of Giant EnergyPak 36v 500wh with a 5 pin connector. Do you (or anyone of your followers) know how to wake the battery pack? I can't find any info on the interweb. Thanks.
There's a guy selling a battery "balancer" that allows you to run 2 battery set up. Search for Aventon dual battery setup and you will see his videos...He has a step by step video
Jehu, you seem to always answer my questions. So here is one for you. Is will call available when I purchase an item? I am not that far away from Ontario, and I like to save on shipping, also don't have to worry about postal laws in California.
How would you mount it on your bike, any ideas? I put two holes ont the front plastic gard and screwed it on the water cage screw hole, but it's not the the most secure way.
I found an Alibaba seller that has the connector and lock and key. It's not an entire single piece mount but the ends have metal that would normally attach to inside of the frame. I will build a mount for my dual motor Rad Runner I am building.
Good ideas, but your delivery could be a little slower when you plug things in. If your hands are over the wires and the wires are black and the battery is black, it's hard to follow if you're not somebody who does this all the time. Just my thoughts. I know this was done a couple of years ago. Thanks
Anything you want. Did you hear the remark about solar panels? They can charge these batteries, which are portable, leaving their uses to your imagination.👍
Hi out there, I have one of these R4 battery packs and I hooked it up to a ebike. It works great and has lots of power but it seems unable to accept a charge. Wondering if there are any suggestions out there. Thanks

may be a great hack, but that's also a VERY great way to kill a Li-Po pack real quick BMS protects against over-discharge, while this hack allows you to BYPASS the BMS entirely, which takes away your protection from over-discharge/current situations..... think carefully before doing that on a Li-Po pack... would you wanna run the risk?
The BMS is inside the battery's case. This hack doesn't bypass the BMS, it simply turns it on so it can do its job. Think of it like turning on the ignition switch to your car.

I'm not an electronic engineer or bms expert. It seems to me that when you are connecting the negative and the B terminal next to it, you are bypassing the discharge protection of the bms. The B terminal is wired to C- of the bms and tied in with the negative of the charging port. So now, your discharge current is not running through P- of the bms where it was supposed to but running through C- and therefore bypassing the discharge protection of the bms. ie LVP, OCP and short circuit protection. I hope I am wrong about this. Besides, I bet you don't have to jump the positive and the A terminal but just the B and the negative to be able to discharge the battery.
I’m not sure about that. I don’t think there is any safety concerns here. Batteries over a certain voltage and WH, must disconnect the outputs for transportation purposes. The Ebike connection that this battery is intended for, just makes the said connections when inserted to the Ebike socket. Internally the cells are always connected to the BMS, there is no BMS bypassing going on.
@@ecaparts you can believe whatever you like. The battery cells are indeed connected to the BMS by the B-. The output to P- and then to the load is controlled by the MOSFETs and circuitry with different discharge protection. The cells voltage/current will be cut off to P- when there is any issues that trigger the MOSFETs to shut off . Same with the charging side of the circuit aka C-.
