Like I mentioned in the description, happy 12 years to Portal 2 as of today. The game released on April 18th, 2011. Yes, for the record I did plan that out to release the video on this day lol. Fantastic game!🙏
I definitely agree with you. Portal 3 could succeed any game out there by far. The portal fanbase has only grown over the years, and I think with a game like it, it would spark other game developers to make more unique games. Nice video dude. Keep up the good work.
Portal 2 actually has a way for you to make your own puzzles. The puzzle editor is very easy to use. You can also use the hammer editor to make a more advanced level
A bunch of people have told me about that already, that's my bad for missing it. I know it came out as a DLC a year after release. I think now to reiterate what I said in the video, if Portal 3 still had that function especially as launch then that adds to my point regardless if it exists in Portal 2 already. Appreciate you mentioning it though.
@@OrionInSpace I think they should improve the level editor in Portal 3. They should add a setting so If you want to you can set it to different styles such as Old Aperture or Overgrown. You should also be able to add a few decorative things like adding holes in the ceiling.
It's simply a brilliant game. When I get tired of FPS, racing and kiddy-platformers... I always replay Portal 1 and 2. It's the unique gameplay, story and mistery of Aperture Science v Black Mesa that draws me back each time.
It truly is a unique departure for a person to want to go and play something that's calm and relaxing. That's unless you aren't smart and struggle with puzzles. I only used RUclips once to figure out a puzzle.
Uh ok! Maybe after months of wandering through the meadows, Chell comes across an old Aperture building from centuries ago. After you enter, you need to complete 12 starting tests to get the portal and dual portal devices. After, a malfunction will occur causing you to be sent to GLaDOS’ chamber, only for her to mistake your reentry as a sign of you out for blood and wanting to kill her again. GLaDOS will then send you into some kind of middle ground between cave era Aperture and modern Aperture, where a personality core named Andrew will guide you through 15 more tests, after that, he will guide you through the back parts of the facility, where you’ll encounter the new turret core, that will chase you. After a while you will finally get back up, and find an emergency override switch for GLaDOS, only for her to flood the hallways with neurotoxin, which you can’t escape from, causing you to pass out. I can’t come up with any more feasible ideas that could work. Anyway, have a good day🙂
the potential for aperture science based games in general is so huge, weve seen many portal mods that kinda fill the gap of portal 3 and i would love an offical portal 3 but the formula is quite hard to build on, but being a test subject for any wild invention that aperture comes up with is still interesting and i would love to see the return of f-stop or jus other puzzle based stuff within aperture, plus the lore is so damn cool and any game that could build on it i would play in an instant
Agreed, if any studio can find a way to make a puzzle-platform style game in the complexities of cool sci-fi that could genuinely break huge ground. Portal or other.
@@anthonyx3576this makes no sense why should wheatly want to take over the Universe/why should he be evil as he isnt Connectet to the GLaDOS body also how could he have a single Chance with the combine
I am glad you made me aware of this since I missed this in my research. That being said in the case of this video I'll add that I hope it would be there on release and not a year later as a DLC as it was in Portal 2. Forge Mode for Halo Infinite wasn't there on release and look how that turned out. So again thanks for letting me know! I didn't really pay attention to the DLC of Portal 2 after I finished it.
Portal is one of my top favorite franchises and I would love a third Portal but I feel the story left off on a very good note. I feel most of the Portal community agrees that Portal doesn't need a third game. Now a spinoff Portal game maybe taking place in the 50s during the original Portal tests would be interesting. Portal 2 also has a level making system in place already. It has an entire community that is making insane chambers for people to play. I would at this time rather get Half Life 3.
That's a fair opinion. Maybe if a 3rd game was ever made it could tell a new story or just be multiplayer based. Someone already told me about Portal Reloaded and the DLC that came with the game in 2012 so I see your point there.
Haha thank you I ask myself that question everyday. Been on RUclips for almost 3 years and I've tried everything to grow bigger.😅 Much appreciated though!
portal 3 would be a great game and probably be in the top ten best selling, but I am not sure what the plot would be, portal 2 was very concluding, GLaDOS already said she does not want to kill you anymore and only wants you to be gone, and Wheatley is still in space, and portal 2 already has a test chamber editor
@@OrionInSpace just co-op I'm still not great at it even years later on one level but I love just playing the game and appreciating how it was made. and anytime i get to the level with the radio i listen to the exile vilify. if had the game on pc id mod it or get the mods already made
i disagree. portal was a phonomenal series, but at the end of the series chell is freed and the series is pretty well wrapped up. If they were to release a portal 3, it would be a much less story rich co op game. At the end of the co op campaign, Glados mentions that it has been 100 thousand years since the bots were revived, and that the revamp of human testing "solved science". Glados also states that testing isn't even nessisary anymore. So, we would just have a longer "Art Therapy" testing course, which is unoriginal as we already have plenty of co op content in portal 2. Again, I know people want a portal 3, but there have been portal 2 mods that came out such as aperture tag, portal stories mel, etc. These mods are centered around a different character, again, because chell was wrapped up and left the aperture facility. Even if portal 3 were to center around a different character, it's still a bunch of puzzles with a story behind it. That is exactly what a portal mod is, and more levels already exist through community test chambers. Moving over to graphics, yes portal 3 would look really good with better graphics, but in my personal opinion it's part of the asthetic of portal to have the original engine. If you don't feel this way, you can download graphics overhauls and ray tracing mods though sites like gamebanana. Also, to speak about it being equal or to the level of things like elden ring, or Fortnite, ect. Those are open world, or fps games that are intended to be played over and over again, while portal has always been a very linear path on where the player must go. As a result, players would only mainly play it once, otherwise it would get very repetitive. TLDR: i love portal as much as the next guy, but i think portal 2 nailed it in pretty much every way and there isn't a reason for portal 3
Hey I appreciate you voicing your thoughts respectfully. You said quite a lot of which can be used for good conversation. I know mods play a big role in everything around this game franchise and how it prospered years after released but my only argument against that would be the notion that not everyone has the ability to access those mods. Unless you are on PC those mods don't come by you often. Story wise, you could make a new story or do a prequel game that you took you back to when the original concept was first established. Maybe the people who built all of that world tested many different types of things and in the end it only came down to what we got. Also again to be clear when I compared to other games I fully understand that in no way could Portal compare to Elden Ring. I was only merely referring to both having their own success while also being in a different genre that defeats the purpose of arguing what genre a game comes from to be a massive success.
You mentioned cod not having some kind of forge mod Yeah I agree it should have it But it does to some degree Some games have modding capabilities highlights being WaW and BO3 having custom zombies maps BO3 custom maps are basically what’s keeping the Zombies community alive whenever cod games release without a zombies mode Even if they do they might be a bad experience which makes the community go back to bo3
Oh no of course I knew about the mods for both WAW and BO3. But like all mods they don't come with the base game and you are basically forced to pay for a PC version in order to use them. The day we get to where both PC and Console get mod tools to use to create our own stuff AND they come with the base game is when gaming will change forever. At least in COD's eyes.
I really hope that Valve is just trying to keep things on as much of a down low as possible and not actually killing the two franchises of Half Life and Portal since there is still so much more potential with them both. If they do end up killing both franchises, it would make me sad :(
What makes you think there's any talk of them "killing" both franchises? Haven't they both been really good? I haven't heard anyone say they think that will happen.
