I’m looking at my 126660 from 2019 and the crystal was even with the bezel and nice and smooth in the transition which is nice. The version you hold raises up the crystal above the bezel so there was no sharp edge prior to this update, correct?
I’m also looking at my 126660. The seamless transition from the bezel to the crystal is actually one of my favorite aspects of the watch! But yeah, there’s no (aggressive) chamfer on my crystal because otherwise there would be a gap between the bezel and the crystal. It seems I've missed out on how the Rolex market has developed regarding dealers. Where I live there's only 2 dealerships chains nationwide, and they have recently expanded with certified Rolex-educated watchmakers including pressure tanks etc for service/repairs so u don't have to fly them to Geneva for service. They only sell direct by waiting lists and not to mid-market dealers. They tend to import from abroad and USED to underprice the licenced dealers, but now offers f.e new Deepsea's from stock and even used ones for serious mark ups, as the demand seems to have rised insanely the last few years. Always buy serviced used ones, with the service registration plastic card and receipts and they should be boxed. I cannot enough recommend to TAKE CARE of your box, because it really, really affects value.
Alexander, you do stuff different to 99% of watch channels on RUclips and that’s why people really appreciate your work! On a separate note, you’ve done interviews/product demonstrations with numerous Watch companies CEOs and design managers but not Rolex, is this because Rolex is very secretive and don’t do this kind of thing?
Thanks for your kind feedback! At Rolex/Tudor no one will officially speak in front of a camera/microphone ... The CEO gives no interviews... Rolex is a foundation and does not communicate any numbers/figures ... I have access to the brand, I am treated with much respect and I get all information... but no one will appear in a video with me... Thats how it is... 😜
@@WatchAdvisor I 100 percent agree. Alex talks about timepieces with class and prestige. Other RUclipsrs talk about watches like gangsters, like the people that sell ugly stuff on the streets. The adjectives they love to use are “cool”, “banger”, “heavy hitter”, “ street cred bro”. It lowers and diminishes the items being discussed.
Everything else is the same??? Does it have a diver extension on the bracelet? The adjustment on the clasp cannot be used as micro adjust and for a wet suit.
@@WatchAdvisor thanks! I love the watch. I originally went to the AD to ask about getting a no date sub. I spoke to the kind lady that worked there and left to have lunch with my wife. I stopped back in again about 45 minutes later after eating lunch to see if I could order a new wedding band. While looking at rings with my wife, the owner of the shop received a small shipment from Rolex unbeknownst to me. The owner of the shop offered to sell me a deep blue that came in the shipment! I was extremely surprised and caught off guard. I tried it on and loved the watch. The price was a bit more than the no date sub but I couldn’t say no! It was destiny lol. I also had no prior purchase history with this AD. They just have great customer service it seems. One more thing, I didn’t know about the little updates, I’ll have to check when I get home and see what version I have.
this is the Seadweller I have been waiting for.. no cyclops, larger date, 70 hrs just brilliant! the moment I get it, it will be going on a rubber strap!
I am a happy owner of one. The watch is a tank tick and big, but not uncomfortable. The dial is simply beautiful. I had to wait for 7 weeks to get it. It is not as popular as the Sub or the Sea-Dweller which makes me like it even more.
Most AD’s can get you one. Waitlist is minimal compared to other references. Out of all the Rolex catalogue. This with the Explorer II are true utilitarian timepieces. The Deep Sea is MEANT to underwater
This is how great watches like the Rolex enjoy such a fine reputation and earn longevity. No big song and dance - just good, incremental and often subtle improvements to an already outstanding timepiece. There is no need to keep trying to reinvent the wheel every year.
Happy to purchase from an AD provided the allocation is available. I have been interested in the James Cameron dial ever since its release but obtaining one at retail is an entirely different story. Easier say than done...
So my AD was incorrect when they showed me the photo of the new watch and it had a red line. I asked if that was the only version and my AD said yes. So how do you have a white line "new version"?
@Lamedon McBorough thank you. So numbers after the dash are different and distinguish them apart. In this instance I think it's better to have the older model.
As always with ROLEX it is all in the detail. I like their continuous improvement approach as if they are searching for perfection, and never 100% satisfied 👑
The Deepsea, generally, since it was first released end of -00, is a fantastic watch, regardless of release year. It is similar, just cosmetic changes. It is a seriously underestimated watch for Rolex-buyers, both as a business suit watch or a bluejean workhorse watch and as a collectors item. It is a real panzer and a "ladykiller", a mans watch, not too much or tacky, compared to most other dive watches and I've never got so many compliments from women as with this model. Go for the basic black, always in fashion.
Hello... I would like to know if the total weight of the NEW James cameron is more or less than the total weight of the 126660. I just picked up a 2022 126660... I thought that was the latest version now i see i was wrong. lol I was wondering if there was a weight difference between the two watches. I love a heavy watch. Thanks
@@WatchAdvisor Which watch might be the heavier of the two? Do you have the total weight of the fully linked 136660 then please? Can you please weigh it ? I would like to know. Thanks very much
This artificial created shortage of Rolex watches so that they can be sold for an overprice in disgusting GREEDY business… Hundreds of thousands new and unworn Rolex watches wait for a stupid buyer on the grey/parallel market while at the the official ADs not a single watch can be bought…
I also noticed that the 👑 in the 👑 doesn't align correctly when it's fully screwed. That's awful considering the "scarcity" and the price. I have the first version from 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣0️⃣ and the 👑 aligns perfectly. It seems Rolex is no longer paying attention to details as they should 👎🏾
It seems I was 🍀indeed but this is a good detail to have in the ⌚ and I love how it looks. This was also mentioned in the channel Just 1️⃣ more ⌚ when reviewing a GMT master so I 💭 this is a standard feature. Als9, that detail can even work as a sign to tell if the gasket may need some service when the 👑 starts to get slightly misaligned because of the continued compression that gasket is subjected to.
A very impressive Rolex. The black dial version does it for me not overstayed. A see through back would be nice, why hide that wonderful mechanism? Nice size, might look good with a NATO strap.
Thanks for sharing! I had no idea about the changes. Also, I can't believe there people think you will scratch the watch with a plastic pointer ... its obviously plastic. Are they trolls?
Is this sea dweller an earlier reference from the current one with the red line? Yes it must be because no lens over the date...I guess it hadn't been released at time of this video?
I'm excited to say that I have my deposit down on the new Omega Ultra Deep... completely ignoring this watch and brand. Is everyone noticing that brands like Moser, AL&S, Parmigiani and Omega are sending their Executives along with their watches for interviews with Alexander (cultivating relationships, human effort and respect)? Not Rolex... they just send the watches. Another good review Alexander. You are a real pro.
Rolex is a foundation. Very strict rules apply who may speak in public. Note even the CEO has the right... So I do have an excellent relationship with a lot of people that work with Rolex & Tudor, but we "only" talk behind the camera...
So that is to say you now get 8% less of that beautiful dial... (can you tell I own the outgoing generation James Cameron?) Fantastic technical overview. As always - the best coverage!
Can anyone explain what is actually the difference between the 2020 JC release and the “New” 2022 model? I can’t see any difference nor does the video explain what I was hoping for
@@WatchAdvisor I’m referring to the d-blue… JC. I have the d-blue 2020 release with the bigger clasp. But the AD asked me if I wanted the new 2022 model which I asked what’s the difference. Alexander, I really appreciate your work and excellent videos, however your advice of not buying from grey market has put me in trouble. I am deeply in love with the yellow oyster perpetual 41 mm. Same as yours. I followed your advice and insisted not buying from grey market and put my name on multiple ADS that have done business with before and guess what? The watch is now discontinued and I have no way to get it apart from paying much higher prices to grey market than before. My point is, with full respect, please be careful with your advice 😊
How could I have known that? If I would, I would have told you to go for it and nothing else… I just hate to advise people to buy on the grey market for such ridiculous prices - my apologies!
It’s a beauty 🙏❤️❤️ thank u for an amazing video….:: P.s. YOU FORGOT one point the new reference (136660) has no flip lock extension adjustment on the bracelet as compared to 126660
The Ultra Deep is thicker but seems to wear better on your wrist and looks thinner. The Deep Sea is slab sided but the Ultra Deep has the twisted lugs and disguises the height better. The rubber strap on the Omega probably helps as well.
It is NOT Rolex, Rolex does NOT sell watches, Rolex is "only" a manufacturer! The independent acting ADs are the problem! They created that mess with artificial shortage... It is GREEDY business!
@@WatchAdvisor I don’t know who’s the root of the problem. All I know is every time I have gone to an AD asking to order a Rolex that I am interested in (usually a SS sports one) they tell me I have to go on the list and nothing is available. Or they show me other models I am not interested in (usually gold datejusts). Like many other people I walk out without buying anything. Why would be in the AD’s best interest to create “artificial shortage situation” and loose a customer when he/she is not a tyre kicker and is ready to pay cold hard cash is beyond me. That’s the stupidest business model I’ve heard. I am currently “on the list” in 4 ADs around SW London for a Rolex DEEPSEA for the past 3 years. Don’t know what else to do to get the watch of my dreams? I am refusing though to get a model I don’t want just to show loyalty and get a chance to be offered later on the watch I like.
@@gpapa31 I forgot to write that ADs also have their own flippers and dedicated resellers… I thought you are aware of the situation… Since ADs may not sell these watches for an overprice in their own outlets the business now is done through the grey/parallel market … Rolex watches are also used to force you to buy other difficult to sell watches (= clean the stock of these ADs) to first get on a waiting list and later when you buy even more to maybe one day get one of the desired pieces… as I wrote before… it is greedy business…
Hundreds of thousands new and unworn Rolex watches wait on the grey/parallel market for an idiot to buy them… all these watches should be injected into the regular business again … many like you waiting for their dream watches would be very happy … and these watches would be worn end of the day … that’s what they are made for … these Rolex though are speculating objects … most of the people involved in that greedy business have ZERO interest in the watches… they only see the money… what a shame!
I have a 2008 Deep Sea with the MK1 dial and bezel. Also have a 2017 Deep Sea James Cameron. My father has a 2022 James Cameron. Im good now and dont see a need for the newer versions. I do however want to buy a Deep Sea Challenge. Im more of a vintage guy, but Vintage aren't daily wearers....but I bought the 2008 Mk1 because its obviously going to be a great collector piece.
I agree that we should not support the flippers but I do know for a fact that some AD’s actually support flippers making deals to buy several watches at a time saying they are valued long time customers knowing they are going to sell them. Maybe they are longtime valued customers but are still using that status to buy and flip.
Of course they do!!! Have you watched this video? ruclips.net/video/_vIAiuTPS-I/видео.html Please do also read the (some) comments… Then you know what’s going on…
@@WatchAdvisor I will be honest though if i had the choice between this and the Omega Ultra Deep i would probably go with the latter. The only plus i find on this model is the date complication.
I think next year instead of Rolex brining new or updated models out they need to figure out selling their watches from their own boutiques rather than the situation as it is now as right now they should simply put on their website, “ available only from grey market dealers” as the dealers they use seem to sell only to them! I loathe this new phenomenon of display only in the current dealers. Rolex need to take charge of its sales. Control warranties by them only being valid to the first owner through Rolex themselves, paperwork to be kept at dealers for two years and all warranties void if not the original owner. I loathe the shitehawkes who sell their watches to grey market as much as I loathe the grey market. There is the dealer in Wien who always display their watches with gaudy bracelets on chrono 24 who are terrible for this, €30,000 for a Pepsi! It’s all about money and nothing to do with the love of watches and it is doing Rolex more harm than good I feel.
Sorry you’ve had such terrible experiences at your ad’s. I’m 26 and have a great relationship with mine. It’s really not that hard to build a relationship
And then lose 40% when you inevitably sell it to purchase the Rolex. I only say this speaking from experience - the siren song of the Crown is impossible to ignore!
@@WatchAdvisor Haha - it's not even by choice to be honest! I've owned 7 different high end brands in the last few years. 6 of them have had services issues that were just poor craftsmanship honestly. My dad used to always say "just stick to the classics" - I wish all these other brands could knock off the king but the truth is they have their reputation for a reason; Rolexes are essentially bomb-proof. Even the higher end - I love AP, amazing finishes. Guess what? That 3120 movement spends more time in the shop than a Ferrari after a weekend drive.

Thanks for sharing! Where are you based?
Alexander seems like the gregarious watch reviewing German uncle I never had.
Yes and he is speaking austrian😡
@@aleximd9244 Pretty sure he’s speaking English :^)
Kent, where are you based?
Alex, in Austria we speak German… a German with an Austrian accent…
Vincent, at least I try 🤣🤣
It seems they did… in the short time I could film the divers during Watches and Wonders I did not check this …
I just picked this James Cameron edition up yesterday, I love it!

@Harry Balls I paid retail at my local AD. I think it was around $14k
@Harry Balls thank you! I hope we can all get a nice Rolex at retail one day.
@@valetudo025 Congrats! Its trading well over retail for D blue. It should say which model on your warranty card 126660 or 136660 for new model.

Love your comment, thanks for sharing!
this is the Seadweller I have been waiting for.. no cyclops, larger date, 70 hrs just brilliant! the moment I get it, it will be going on a rubber strap!
Rolex should also offer it with a rubber strap. You are not the first one to “ask” for one…
It’s stunning watch , stunning , gorgeous, beautiful trust meee
Thanks for sharing!
Seven weeks is a reasonable waiting time! That’s how it should be… congratulations!
@@WatchAdvisor Thanks. Yes it was not bad at all.

I like the 2017 Rolex Deepsea the best because it's mine I love ❤️ it it's beautiful it's untouched the original 1
We love your passion, thanks for sharing!
This is how great watches like the Rolex enjoy such a fine reputation and earn longevity. No big song and dance - just good, incremental and often subtle improvements to an already outstanding timepiece. There is no need to keep trying to reinvent the wheel every year.
Well said! Thanks for sharing our passion!
Happy to purchase from an AD provided the allocation is available. I have been interested in the James Cameron dial ever since its release but obtaining one at retail is an entirely different story. Easier say than done...
I keep my fingers crossed 🤞🏻... keep us posted please...
So my AD was incorrect when they showed me the photo of the new watch and it had a red line. I asked if that was the only version and my AD said yes. So how do you have a white line "new version"?
I don’t have any of these watches, but I filmed them during Watches and Wonders at the Rolex booth (house 😉)
The Red Line comes on the SD 43. This is a DSSD.
I REALLY ENJOY YOUR PRESENTATIONS, YOUR PASSION COMES THROUGH LOUD & CLEAR. THANK YOU & ALL THE BEST.

The 8% size increase of the date makes a big and better difference.
I agree the changes are small but a choice between the two it’s a no brained
Would this watch have a new reference number or would it be the same as previous one?

@Lamedon McBorough thank you. So numbers after the dash are different and distinguish them apart. In this instance I think it's better to have the older model.
The best watch that Rolex makes. ❤🙏🏻
Rolex manufactures only excellent watches, including the DeepSea IMHO ...
I just purchased it from my AD
It's an excellent tool watch
the best clasp in the Rolex lineup i
Which one did you pick up?
I picked 44mm with black dial 12660
As always with ROLEX it is all in the detail. I like their continuous improvement approach as if they are searching for perfection, and never 100% satisfied 👑
Yes! They definitely tick different!
Superlative watch, superlative review as always..it wears surprisingly comfortable on a seven inch wrist.. subtle improvements..👍
That thing looks crazy-heavy. Cool watch, though.
Alexander if I am not buying one from the simpleton flippers then I will wait forever.
The Deepsea is a really good looking watch.
Always was and always will be... on top it is a real tool-watch...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and passion with us... Where are you based?
Interesting... I have the black version and I have never had anyone compliment or even inquire about the watch.
the Rolex Crown logo on the fliplock extension is gone as well in the new model.

Alex, I would give you another thumbs up for this video, if RUclips would allow it but they don't. So, here's some I made myself! 👍👍👍👍 😉

Finally a seadweller that got the date window aligned properly like the good old 16600. Only took them 15 years😊

Hello... I would like to know if the total weight of the NEW James cameron is more or less than the total weight of the 126660. I just picked up a 2022 126660... I thought that was the latest version now i see i was wrong. lol I was wondering if there was a weight difference between the two watches. I love a heavy watch. Thanks
There might be a minimal weight difference, but not more than this…
@@WatchAdvisor Which watch might be the heavier of the two? Do you have the total weight of the fully linked 136660 then please? Can you please weigh it ? I would like to know. Thanks very much
No Help Alexander ? I dont know who else to ask.
216 grams
Totally agree do not pay more than list price stop the flippers and the grey market they are destroying the watch hobby
It seems Rolex is no longer paying attention to details as they should 👎🏾
You must have gotten lucky. I’ve never heard of crown logo alignment being a standard feature on Rolex watches.
With time the crown will align but that mean the gasket is broken in or it needs a new one.
@@Milofchg Lmao
Impossible to fit a see through case back on such an extreme watch… that would increase the thickness dramatically…
@@WatchAdvisor I like thick watches 😋
Thanks for sharing! I had no idea about the changes.
Also, I can't believe there people think you will scratch the watch with a plastic pointer ... its obviously plastic. Are they trolls?
You are welcome! I do in fact have to mention this… I was accused of intentionally scratching watching I film… Can you imagine?
how is I comparing with Omega flagship PO?
What exactly do you want to know?
I love this watch. Very decent updates. The abbr RLX Titanium on the backside is so awesome. Super review Alexander.
Thanks for sharing our passion and your kind feedback!
Is this sea dweller an earlier reference from the current one with the red line? Yes it must be because no lens over the date...I guess it hadn't been released at time of this video?
When we filmed this DeepSea in March last year it was not released yet…
do I need to fly to Geneva to get it?
Where are you based? No Rolex AD near you?
@@WatchAdvisor Thank You. I value your clarification.
So that is to say you now get 8% less of that beautiful dial... (can you tell I own the outgoing generation James Cameron?)
Fantastic technical overview. As always - the best coverage!
The 8% increase of the date window should just be about or less than 1% of that beautiful gradient blue dial
Agreed on the math being off, but I getcha-I’ve got the D-blue 126660 myself and the dial is just a lacquered thing of beauty.
If I wouldn’t have mentioned it probably no one would have noticed it… 😁
Can anyone explain what is actually the difference between the 2020 JC release and the “New” 2022 model? I can’t see any difference nor does the video explain what I was hoping for
Are you sure you watch the video?
@@WatchAdvisor I’m referring to the d-blue… JC. I have the d-blue 2020 release with the bigger clasp. But the AD asked me if I wanted the new 2022 model which I asked what’s the difference. He couldn’t tell me. So I thought I watch this which only explains the difference between the deepsea and d-blue

Please make a video comparing the Rolex deep sea and Omega Ultra deep
Agreed at 100%! Omega has surpassed Rolex in terms of performances, I am curious to understand who could fit better on the wrist!
Omega is technically superior and cheaper. I think the Rolex looks slightly better imho
If I can hands on both watches I will do this with pleasure…
@@WatchAdvisor no need to apologize sir, your intentions are good and that is very obvious to us. Thank you again for your efforts

The Ultra Deep is thicker but seems to wear better on your wrist and looks thinner. The Deep Sea is slab sided but the Ultra Deep has the twisted lugs and disguises the height better. The rubber strap on the Omega probably helps as well.
I’d also go for the Ultra Deep… it is the more modern watch and in the moment sets new standards…
Definitely an improvement if I had to choose between one of the two

Danke Alex. Tolles Video. Sehr stark, dass du auch diese kleinen Änderungen berücksichtigst und vorstellst. Chapeau.
Danke für Dein nettes Feedback!
@7:30. I will stop “supporting them” with pleasure when Rolex ADs stop the nonsense about “waiting lists”.
Great review btw.
@@WatchAdvisor that sucks!! I guess I’ll stay with my Omega and Breitling and keep on dreaming about that DEEPSEA. 😡

Have you had the chance to see it in real?
I agree that we should not support the flippers but I do know for a fact that some AD’s actually support flippers making deals to buy several watches at a time saying they are valued long time customers knowing they are going to sell them.
Maybe they are longtime valued customers but are still using that status to buy and flip.
Of course they do!!! Have you watched this video? ruclips.net/video/_vIAiuTPS-I/видео.html Please do also read the (some) comments… Then you know what’s going on…
