His ex-wife cheated on him. In real life, having trust issues after being cheated on is pretty common. It’s definitely a flaw, but it’s an understandable flaw.
Everyone's like "poor Gunther" but as much as I love Gunther, you need to remember that he was the one hating Ross to begin with lol (telling Ross he didn't care about his birthday, stuff like that) so I think Ross's reaction is pretty normal hahaha

To be honest, what employer with just a smidgen of reality sense arranges an interview in a restaurant, or any public space for that matter, where anybody can hear or see them? Although in fairness, the Ralph Lauren management were a bit too trigger-happy. If Rachel really were such a valued employee, they should've negotiated with her and try to keep her, rather than immediately throwing the (worn-out, if you ask me) "team player" card... 🙄😕
It was the 90’s, people used to be able to smoke at venues. Nowadays it’s a strict no no, liquor license required to serve alcohol and no smoking inside … i would say it wasn’t totally out of reality.

But then again this is FRIENDS, it was shot in a set in LA. Having that many white people in NYC without spotting a minority would be a dead give away if you want to talk about things out of reality.
You can't fire someone for applying for another job. Rachel should sue her boss for wrongful dismissal. Even if they argue that she was underperforming for some time and they were planning to fire her anyway, their timing makes it suspicious.
If it was reality, her boss would be 100% correct, he gave her so many chances even before hiring her, most other bosses would not be even half as understanding or willing.
Rachel only has herself to blame, honestly. If she's so bad at her job that it took 45 minutes to list all the ways she's horrible, than it really shows why she doesn't deserve to be hired for anything
