I close my eyes listening to this and I can see a bustling medieval faire; women talking to each other while browsing the stalls, vendors shouting and hawking wares to passerby, children laughing and running through the crowds chasing after one another, men carousing and going at some competitive sports and games in exciting feats of skill, nobles gathered in the stands of the jousting grounds speaking amongst one another as they wait their turn in the tournament. I guess that's why the Britons' jingle has always been one of my favorites, but this extended version just supercharged that by 11. All the additions were well placed and only served to enhance the experience. Age of Tunes, you're doing a truly amazing job with these. Keep up the good work!
It's so cool to me that this whole song was based off of just a little jingle of a tribute to the musical style of the civilization and they made a whole song out of it.
I love what you're doing. I'm tinkering with the idea of covering the Frank theme... love that odd meter man. Great work. I can't wait to check all these out.
Can't wait for Indian theme. (The tabla and Carnatic vocals with western fusion) Subbed. Britons theme is very catchy, also the civ with which I win the easiest. xD
this is me from the future and hey age of tunes aren't you in heaven yet and if you were please come back because the universe needs and wants your videos, you haven't finished half of the civilizations yet come back edit:oh no the heart is gone but the important thing is that you are alive and here
Originally, there were 3-5 versions of the song, Scarborough Faire. They all had a slightly different melody. This video game composition sounds actually very much like one of the older compositions of Scarborough Faire. In these older compositions, the difference of every verse is subtle and sorta repetitive because instruments were limited hence, exploit the most out of a song with a familiar 2 verse that only has subtle differences. Works well with making video games and medieval instruments. I don't think this was intentional. It was just part of making a catchy game theme, but it ended up being brilliant. The later versions we hear today, each verses melody sound distinctive from the others.
I do like this but to give some (hopefully) constructive criticism, I think that it would sound better if you recreated the original theme using the instruments you have rather than cutting up Vitalis Eirich's composition and transitioning into a longer version. It's very easy for my ears to tell the difference between the two sets of instruments, and some of the cuts in this piece feel a bit awkward, for example, the one right at the 1:00 mark and the ones that follow after to change up the melody.
It was cool to finally get a full British campaign with Edward Longshanks there was some fun diversity and interesting historical inserts. Not the most difficult campaign compared to the unit spam crap from some others (looking at you Razzi).
The music is superb! Quite possibly the best of any civilisation in the entire game, for me, and that's just my opinion. However, I got to thinking a bit here: shouldn't have been better since the vanilla version of the game for the Britons to be simply called the English? Britons could also refer to the Celts/Gaels, in a medieval context and even beyond, so it would've been more historically accurate for the Britons to have been originally called either English or even better Anglo-Saxons. Just some thoughts... All the best and thank you so much for uploading this great extended musical gem! P.S.: It's absolutely fascinating to notice how this theme has evolved from a bare several second-long relatively simple medieval tune. The instrumentation and vocals are bewildering and heavenly, for me at least.

I beg to differ. the thrid (and added) part is not in line. It is of different style.
