Ha! Thanks! You noticed all my research work. I bought Discovery Plus and literally spent a week immersed in HGTV shows while taking notes. All the shots were originally filmed on a tripod. I had to add camera shake in post to make it feel like there was a film crew there. The only stable shots are at the end for obvious reasons ;-)
Thanks! Yea, it moves quick. But I made sure that the voiceover included every single detail. And if the video still moves too quickly, you can check out my full article: www.brewcabin.com/keezer/
The difference in quality between your videos and others in the same space is astounding. I’d literally watch you just brew random recipes. Drop a Patreon!
Not only is this video great at instructing you how to build a keezer, it also perfectly parodies not only HGTV/TLC shows but fight club as well. You have my like and kudos for making a GREAT video.
Awesome build and video. Just finished mine up yesterday. The 7/8 bit was a hair small. Likely due to all the rain we've been getting. Probably should've gone with a 1" bit. Thanks for posting.
This is the first video of yours I watched and I'm not gonna lie, the editing got me. I've watched so many creators that do the full body "duplication shots" (I don't remember the actual name for it and too lazy to look it up right now) that I've gotten pretty good at spotting them, and at the beginning I knew it was one of those. But the conversation between the brothers had a natural flow, I didn't spot any seams, and other indicators of that kind of shot that I brushed off the uncanny valley effect that surpassed even the possibility of being identical twins. Then I got absorbed into the building of the keezer, as that was why I was here after all, so the ending actually hit me pretty hard. Best instructional video leading to an existential crisis I've ever watched, rivalling some of Brian David Gilbert's videos!
Wow! Thank you for saying all that. I tried so hard to make it look as real as possible. Makes me glad you appreciated all the hard work that went into this video.
These videos are amazing! Incredible editing and attention to detail with each different style. Super informative and hilarious at the same time. Very much appreciate your time, work and effort! Awesome stuff!
this was the second video of yours i watched lmao ya i was a little confused but at the end you got a new subscriber lol very good love the build quality with the wicked humour good stuff
I’m not even a home brewer, I came to your channel from money lab but dang you make amazing content, can’t help but watch all these videos. Ending kind of sent me on an emotional whirl though not gonna lie. Keep up the great work!
Great! I'll get started. Just need to start kegging instead of bottling... and find a place for a keezer... and a place for all the tools and wood working equipment. Never mind. Anyway, great video!
Thanks! I'm not sure if you're kidding or not (hard to tell via text), but you know I don't really have a twin LOL. But if you really did think I have a twin, then I did my job ;-)
Dude, as always, your videos are very creative, informative and fun to watch. Thanks for sharing this how to. BTW, it's amazing how much you and your brother look so much alike! Cheers
Clever videography, great content, thankyou Intended as positive feedback: may I suggest less handheld camera wobble or make it slightly more subltle I found it a little off putting and quite obvious
PHENOMENAL MATT! Dig the Fight Club reference! We need more vids! Amazing running into you up at Outer Range and spotted their hat in the video! CHEERS!
@@BrewCabin I hear ya! The hobby itself takes up a good amount of time and effort, so I can't even imagine adding in filming and editing. I'll take whatever you can give us, because your fresh takes on our hobby are very entertaining and informative. Congrats on the new keezer, you'll find it to be one of the better upgrades! You have double the taps of mine! 🍻
Thanks! And I feel the same way. This video took me two months to make. I wish I didn't have a full time job or I'd completely dedicate myself to this channel.
Hi Matt. I finally took the plunge and I am going to be building a keezer. I am at the point where I am going to be painting the chest freezer and I had 2 questions. First, the tools list says you’ll need 240 grit sandpaper but in the instructions its says to use 120 grit sandpaper. Which one did you use? My second question is about the plastic pieces. Did you sand the plastic pieces such as the handle and the hinge covers before painting them as well? I ask because I have a MagicChef and is has plastic hinge covers and an indent in the lid to use as a grip to lift the lid. But the indent isn't metal like the body of the freezer. It is covered with plastic. Do I just sand this part to and the plastic hinge covers with sandpaper Thanks in advance for the help!
I used both grits. The rough one first, the lighter one second. I did not sand the plastic pieces but I should have. That said, I don't really touch them that often for the paint to rub or chip off. That's why I just opted not to sand them. I would sand anything you're painting that you plan on handling a lot.
Awesome video!! One of best beer related videos, or any video, on RUclips! Is that ending “Fight Club” music playing during the end credits?? Well done, sir! And this video is perfectly timed as I am about to build a keezer myself.
Fun fact: Most (if not all) chest freezers only have electronics and mechanical equipment in the bottom corner where the cord goes in. Besides that, they're just big insulated boxes made of plastic and foam. Exception for things like lights / controls panels.
The expanding foam is a weather seal that keeps the cold air from escaping the freezer. But it also grips the collar to the top of the freeze so it doesn't slip around when you open the lid. The added facial board and lid add enough weight to compress the foam strip and keep the collar in place. And yes, there's a song in every one ;-)
Wow! Thank you. I'm so glad the Twin trick kinda worked. The goal was to make people who don't know me actually think, "well...maybe he DOES have a twin?" Nailed it!
Amazing quality Matt, keep it coming! Did you pick Intertap faucets? How long is your beer line? I've found out that even with 4mm ID EVAbarrier line I need at least 3 meters to get a decent pour. It's a lot of tubing to manage and I'm not really comfortable leaving that much beer sitting there
Yea I got the new Nukatap faucets from Kegland. And my beer line is 15 feet. You should check out the full article breakdown: www.brewcabin.com/keezer/
Haha! Thanks! Pros and cons on my keezer or kegerator? Right now, the only con for the keezer is lifting kegs into it. Other than that, I'm soooooo glad I built it. It's awesome!
This is an S Tier level homebrew video man! Been excited for more since your "Homebrew Odyssey" video 💯 Quick question though, can you use 4mm EVA barrier for gas lines as well?
It always happens this way...ya can't, until ya DO. The question is: was going to kegging life changing in the brewing game for you? Bonus question: Do you feel PRESSURE to keep such a large keezer fully stocked? Personally, kegging my beer was a game changer...but I don't want such a large keezer. It is a VERY NICE build though! Cheers!
I've been kegging for a very long time (since 2008). I hated bottling so much that it was the first upgrade I ever made to my brewing equipment. My friend had an old kegerator he gave to me. It was from the 80s with one tap. I used that thing until it eventually died.
Thanks! I keep the CO2 tank on when I'm adding carbonation. But once that's done, I keep the tank off. I'll crank it on for a set to get everything to come to pressure before serving. I find that I get less foam that way and waste less CO2.
This video was well done and nice to look at. However, I wish less time had been devoted to painting the freezer and more time dedicated to what's going on inside the freezer. Wanted more information on installation of taps, drip tray, thermostat, regulator and manifold, etc... I got some good design tips but would have liked more of the other things.
If you have any specific questions about this keezer build, leave a comment and I'll answer them in as much detail as possible.
I cant see on the video but what about the white weaterstrip for the lid ? Did you change it to keed the black look ?
The production level on this one is unmatched. Awesome work man!
Much appreciated!
Was just about to say that!! Hopefully the beer taste exceeds the production quality 😜
Nailed the establishing shots/zoom outs of HGTV shows. Also the looking slightly off-camera, talking head shot was a nice touch too.
Ha!
Ya high quality production you have here.
Matt, this is incredible. I felt like I was watching a homebrewers version of home reno show. Attention to detail was phenomenal.
Thank you! That was the goal and I'm glad it showed ;-)
Right!?!? It’s like quality tv show production only thing I would have done was adding a longer frame of the actual completely kegerator
Welcome to HGTV mancave addition.
Gotta watch this video twice. First to admire the production. And again to learn how to build a keezer.

No lines running through the sides anywhere? That's what I was told. Which is why you don't drill into them.
Hey, can you explain how the expanding foam works in this instance compared to glue? Great videos (hope there is a song in every one).

This was an awesome video. One question I did have is where do you keep you temp probe located in the keezer?
Thanks! I just have the temperature probe hanging over the edge of the collar near the top of the keezer.
That reveal at the end is some M Night shit.
Yes!
That was HILARIOUS, well made both on the video and the Keezer :) I was wondering from the beginning if you had a twin or if it was video effect :)

So hyped! 1 min!
Yes! Thanks for being here for this ;-)
@@BrewCabin Another epic vid man! I’ve watched way to much property bros to admit lol. Glass rinser is 🔥
Haha! Thanks man! Yea, my original concept was "what if one of the property brothers was a figment of the other's imagination." HGTV meets Fight Club.
1) How long are your draft beer lines?
2) What temp do you have your keezer set to?
3) Do you have issues with moisture buildup inside the keezer?
15ft (I live at high altitude), 36f, yes (I use a damp rid inside).

I must have missed this show on HGTV. The keezer looks really great! Wondering what your thoughts are on kegerators. Pros and cons of each maybe?
Haha! Thanks! Pros and cons on my keezer or kegerator? Right now, the only con for the keezer is lifting kegs into it. Other than that, I'm soooooo glad I built it. It's awesome!
@@BrewCabin 👍 does the inkbird basically turns the keezer on and off? Or does it control the settings in any way?
Yep, that's really all it does to regular the temp. So you can add it to any fridge or freezer or heater. Anything you want to control temps on.
And the collar stays in place without any glue or silicone?
100%! The grip of the strip and the weight of the collar, facial board, and lid.
This is an S Tier level homebrew video man! Been excited for more since your "Homebrew Odyssey" video 💯 Quick question though, can you use 4mm EVA barrier for gas lines as well?
