Injection moulded plastic has a high up front cost because making the steel moulds is a lot of work. That's why steel tends to be cheaper in small batches but plastic is much cheaper in mass production. Particularly for something like a keyboard plate that can be stamped out of sheet stock.
I think the problem with PC plates on budget keebs is manufacturers depend on the steel for rigidity and weight and I'm sure there's a bit of getting over convention.
anything funky about the software it's running? I just saw your IROK video about the software not being trustworthy. I just got into PC builds & I don't want to risk anything bugging my PC😅 thanks
No. The software only initiates network activity when the end user searches for firmware or software updates, otherwise I would have stated what, if anything, I found within the video, like I did with the Irok video.
That's really cool to see another decent affordable keyboard from ilovbee. Was starting to wonder if the i61 was a one off.

Thanks for this information, cheers!

Isn’t steel also relatively cheap to machine for a keyboard? I thought that’s why Keychron used them so much, but I never thought about the weight
They could always add silicone to increase the weight, but true, it will take time to overcome convention.
You wouldn't believe this but it looks like the new Royal Kludge RK R87
I'm beginning to think ilovebee is a Royal Kludge sub-brand
I had not yet seen it, it does appear to be the same!
How would you compare this to the Redragon K552? It looks quite attractive as an alternative at that price point.
I have the K552 Barebone, which is nice; the ilovbee is nicer, IMHO.
@MechKeyboards Thanks, I got a friend looking for a TLK board. This might be a potential option for them.
@@vagarous as long as they're willing to lube the switches or replace them with some good switches I think they'll be extremely happy
how do you customize the side lights

Hey, is it possible to somehow disassemble or tear down this keyboard?
It is possible, but I've not had the time to get to it yet.
@@MechKeyboards ok
Does this have nkro
It is marketed to gamers, so I would assume that it does, though it's not listed in any advertisement.
@MechTech ok, thank you. I ordered one
