As with the last two, had a lot of fun watching! I made a giant comment with subtle writing details on the Halo 2 VoD, and here i'm going to give some additional insight too (being careful to avoid spoilers!) To give some context Halo 2 had so many neat small details, the incredible worldbuilding with Covenant politics, and the multiple story threads with the Arbiter and Chief because Halo 2's plot was a huge point of passion for Joe Staten, who basically wrote the whole game. However, due to a disagreement with a fellow developer at Bungie, he was not involved for most of Halo 3's development. As a result, while still excellent, there's not as much worldbuilding or subtle foreshadowing, and there's a few plot issues that Halo 3 has. Most notably is the Prophet of Truth's character is sort of entirely different in Halo 2 vs in Halo 3 (and even has different voice actors). In 2, he's portrayed as a shrewd politician and mastermind, and as I noted in my comment on the H2 VoD, allowed Chief to get away with killing Regret to put the Brutes in power and let Mercy die, seemed to know what the Halo rings really did, etc. However, in Halo 3, he's just sort of a religious zealot who really does want to activate the rings anyways. Joe Staten has said in interviews that Truth as depicted in H2 is how he envisioned the character. We still don't really know what his original plan was for Truth's endgame, tho you can get some insight into what Joe intended if you read the Halo novel he wrote "Contact Harvest". There's a few other plot issues, like it really doesn't make sense Gravemind only sent one ship to infect Earth and not other planets, and Cortana's gambit to bait the flood to the Ark to then wipe them out with the rebuilt Halo ring is also sort of contrived and doesn't hold up if you think about it, etc; but Truth's character is the main thing. Beyond that, one thing you sadly didn't get to experience is some of the Arbiter's dialog lines during missions, as they get disabled in Co-op. I'm not able to list every single one, but one you might appreciate is that in the final mission after Johnson died, Arbiter says "I am sorry Spartan, but we must go" and "even in death, your sergeant guides us" once you get on his warthog. Additionally, you only got to see the last terminals extra Legendary difficulty content, when every Terminal in the game has different text on Legendary. When you stream the CEA and H2A terminals, you should def have Hiddenexperia send you the Legendary terminal text for Halo 3 too to read (You also missed the additional pages for the pre-corruption messages in the terminals too, it's not just the Librarian/Didact logs that have more then 1 page). Also, at 7:51:40 the structure in the distance is the Mausoleum of the Arbiter, the place where the Arbiter, well, became the Arbiter in H2 and where the Brreaking Bejamin song plays at the end of the "Gravemind" mission. Early in Halo 3's development you actually would have fought through it in this mission and would have battled reanimated, flood controlled corpses of former Arbiters in their armor, which would have been cool. There was also a cut boss fight where you'd plug Cortana into a half-broken Scarab and she would attack the Gravemind as you shot his tentacles. And as Hiddenexperia said, the terminal at 8:01:00 is reference to the first Halo novel, "The Fall of Reach", but a LOT of Cortana's dialog in this mission does beyond that, but I won't say what since you said you might read the book (there's also a comic and an animated adaption of the novel, tho the animated adaption only covers the first half) Lastly, I gave a donation about this, but I'll say it again: You should consider hosting a stream where you react to the Halo Legends anime episodes, and the Halo Evolution motion comics. These were made after Halo 3 but before Halo 4, and each episode/motion comic is it's own short story featuring different characters and exploring different genres. It's a great way to get a taste of the EU without needing to read a whole book (though I'd LOVE watching your thoughts on each Halo novel too!)
Honestly why these streams have been so great is in no small part due to how well you cultivated the experience for Milo! Playing through, pointing out certain things and adding in details, but never overboard or out of sequence! Showing the right amount of goofy stuff and holding back when you could point out a little too much... This series, these streams have just been so perfect and satisfying to experience. Thank YOU so much for your part in them
@@Dave_Chrome Really appreciate this! I've been trying really hard to honestly not even answer half of his questions to keep his playthrough super pure! So this means a lot to me :')
@@JCbackfire You've been doing a great job, one of my favorite things to do with blind Halo LP's is to point out small easy to miss details, but half the time you've made sure to already point them out to him (while avoiding any potential spoiler-y stuff!) or Milo picked up on himself due to him taking things slow, which is fun. Like a third of the items I pointed out in my giant comment on the Halo 2 VoD you guys already came across!
I can't wait to see how his reaction plays out with Reach campaign !!! Great stream JC, Milo and Xperia! I'm a veteran Halo player since the naughties and I have never driven *the epic Dumpster* !!! It makes me think I'm a co-op N00b ...
Is anyone else astonished that the guy who took 20 minutes to name the "grave mind"as flood faction...somehow managed with zero context of lore ....knows exactly that he is and was the culmination of the precursors and how it obtains information. AND HOW THE RINGS ARE MADE AND TRANSPORTED.....HOW!?
This was a LONG one haha - timestamp your favourite moments below!! Also I really hope yall didn't mind how much I got into the lore towards the end, I know it broke up the gameplay flow a bit but it was really fun for me figuring everything out as I went along. Thanks for all your support during and after the stream too, you guys are amazing ❤️
That was an incredible time, and I'm so, so glad that Milo ended up enjoying the trilogy! The Halo universe is just extremely rich with lore, and seeing him sink his teeth into it is a bit of a dream come true for me. Can't wait for ODST and Reach!
@@get_spanked240 all I’m gonna say is, I only have love for all da games, lol Only Halo games in my opinion that’s close to being trash is H5 and H4. for H4 story’s good, gameplay 💩 Reach gameplay 10/10 compared to H4 H5… I mean What all do I really need to say?? 🤷♂️ I mean it’s pretty much the other way around (I mean when you compare H4 to H5) Edit: also I don’t really mind if you hate Reach, I’m just being a nurd, doing what a nurd doses best…. Nurding out 🤓 lol
@@pfb9875 respect. Thanks for not being one of those fanboys who loses it. Yeah as you can imagine, i have a burning anger for that game, but to each their own 😄
@@get_spanked240 Man, Sorry if you get any replies from big fanboys for just saying your thoughts about a game. (and that’s really all it is at the end of the day 🤷♂️ And yes a big halo fanboy like myself is willing to admit that lol) Some people just gotta learn to respect others opinions on things (no matter how hard it is) Well that was a little deep 😶 lol
Every now and then I get recommended a new Halo playthrough video, and I check most of them out despite the fact that some of them aren't really that satisfying to watch as people aren't really paying attention to the story or appreciating the game as much as it deserves. But your streams are different:- not only are you taking the time to fully understand the amazing lore, but you're trying to get the absolute most out of each level, nook and cranny ie. the way the Halo devs intended. And the fact that you're all such a bunch of great guys and keep it clean for the most part is just a bonus - thanks so much for posting and I look forward to the rest of the streams!
This series has been the best so far. I've been on this stream since it started and now I am tired but it was great. SHOUT OUT TO Hiddenxperia, Liam, And JCBackfire. This had been the best...
Halo is something very special to me and it has been euphoric watching you experience all of these things that I hold near and dear :) Watching these streams have been some of the brightest moments I’ve had as of late and I thank you so much for that. It also has been so very refreshing to see someone lose themselves in the world of halo, especially you Milo since you love to analyse the small details! And yet there is so much still left to explore! Much love to all who were in the chat and also anyone reading this
5:54:00 Sort of. Slip Space is actually exactly the same size as the normal universe, the difference is slip space is 11 dimensional space and the speed of light is limited by the number of dimensions of space. So in Slip Space having faster drives is still faster as you are still covering the same distance, but you accelerate to far higher speeds. That being said, there is still a "speed of light" limit to Slip Space, but that speed is absolutely ludacris compared to normal spacetime.
@@thejfoshow1320 to be fair he was vastly simplifying it to not just straight blow Milo's mind in the moment. It's cooler to think about when you have the time to absorb it. Plus it is really complicated But still, in lore this is why the covenant is faster at slip space travel than the UNSC, their anti gravitic drives produces immensely stronger acceleration which also carries into slip space. The faster you'd reach the speed of light in real space, well the same thing with slip space. The Forerunners had a much more esoteric method of making slip space travel faster. First off were the crystals found on Reach directly effecting the fundamental forces. They also had mastered understanding the "clumpiness" that is slip space. You see slip space is overlayed on top of normal space so all things that effect gravity in our space time also effects slip space which needs to be monitored and calculated. Star Wars was similar with hyper space functioning very similarly and as such there are optimal paths to take. The Forerunners had just perfectly mastered these calculations and made perfect paths. They also just had vastly more power to make much larger slip space rifts to fit larger and larger vessels.
Finding Morse Code Easter Egg in the first time playing, while both JC and HiddenXperia didn’t know about it. And then caught on about that space elevator from Halo 2… Meanwhile takes almost half an hour to figure out the Gravemind is Flood.
I always LOVE seeing brand new players go through the original trilogy and seeing all the feels built up at the end. This was so amazing to watch! I can't wait for you to start up ODST after this! It's my favorite title.
agreed, wish there were more Halo fps games where you're not playing as a Spartan, that was a really unique experience, and the totally different vibe tho
God HiddenXperia is such a nerd I love it. Also I never realizer how rough the graphics are in this game yet the game is still beautiful because of the lighting and colours. Just a testament to how art style is better than just sheer graphical fidelity.
‘CE is like ‘this is a Lego brick’, Halo 2 is a few pieces put together, and Halo 3 is the whole thing built’ - what a beautiful summary, looking forward to ODST (I assume)
The music of Halo 3 is the best part of the entire game. In the cutscene for Arrival, when the music swells as Chief stands up, it gives me goosebumps every time. As for the rest of the soundtrack, it really gives you the feeling that you *are* finishing this fight. And then there are the more tender moments between Chief and Cortana on Mission 8 "Cortana" after they are reunited. Hands down, best soundtrack in video game and Halo history
When I was entering highschool I watched so much Zombies content, BO3 DLC cycle, the ZHouse era, all the Custom Zombies and Boogie Boys content! And out of every Zombies youtuber, I trusted your guides the most! Whenever I needed to know something I came right to your channel :) I wanted to preface with this because when I saw the first couple Halo first time playthrough vods, I was SHOCKED! It was like two online worlds colliding! I grew up with Halo, Halo 2 was my first, it given to me by a kind neighbor (I cried at the end lol). It's definitely my most nostalgic game series, played splitscreen with my best friend ENDLESSLY, first through the story seriously, and then replaying for relaxation or "dumb fun", you know how that can be now :) So to see these familiar faces, personalities getting into a series I hold dear? It's magical. I've been entertained and engaged for these entire streams, it's pretty crazy to think about. Anyway, thank you so much for streaming this! I absolutely dig how respectful you are of the games and getting an authentic experience, it's a bit rare to see sometimes: lots of content creators can be a bit one note, being silly through the entirety of something with disregard for story or music, others only engage with those serious things and miss out on goofier stuff. Basically I want to say that you provide the whole shebang, and it's AWESOME that you're sharing this. Especially for people like me that adore these games, and stand to get a lot out of a well balanced, genuine first dive into Halo! I felt like I was there again, playing through for the first time and having a blast :') thank you so much Milo! I'm jazzed you're into these games and I'm excited to catch more Halo streams live! And uh, maybe a book club series if that's in the cards ;)
10:08:00 this is probably my favorite part of this entire play through, just the sheer relief that chief is alive. I only wish that 343 did something to make you wait, like the old credits did it made that epilogue so much more impactful, when, for a solid 5 minutes you thought he was dead.
@@alphaexpress6881 I know, I said that I wished 343 did something similar to credits for each of the games to recreate the anxiousness that credits used to before the epilogue. I know bungie made halo 3, I've been playing the game for 11 years now.
@@giannicarbonara7342 They actually do this in Halo Wars 2 with anders going through slipspace. They also tried with Halo 5 and well....... You know how that turned out
And the Master Chief Collection basically removes the credits altogether, does it not? Boo. Disappointing. Also, Ark Terminal 2 basically sows the first hints of the Precursor mystery, by alluding to 'Their footsteps'.
I truly love his reaction at the legendary ending and I love how at 10:11:51 the menu music hits him with never forget. Truly an emotional ending with a VERY emotional song
I’m so happy that you come to love Halo. It’s truly a unique franchise where is story is easy to understand but the lore is deep. Where you have such funny time with the glitch’s, DUMPSTER, and hilarious marine quote. To very deep attachment to the characters, the incredible tone and the FEELS. And the memories are the best with your friends and family. Even more incredible to come. ❤️
Found these videos. They have consumed the last 3 days of my life. Watching Milo go through these is magical. Seeing him exploring and forcing vehicles where the shouldn't be. 'PERFECT!' (Evey true Halo player does this) Seeing his enjoyment of the terminals/lore. He understands wayyyy better than I did playing. My favorite videos on RUclips. Can't wait to watch the others.
Me too, seeing someone play the games that defined my childhood is always fun. I just wish the rest of the halo community wasn’t mostly degenerates, I’ve seen comments literally telling him he’s playing the game wrong and that it’s “painful to watch”… imagine gatekeeping how halo is played or not understanding what first time means 😂
SPOILERS: Halo is a story about Halo Man, fighting demons on Mars. He uses his biotics because he's a Ultra Marine fighting those chaos demons. However he left his crow bar with Cortana but at least he still has his gravity gun. Then Halo Man finds the Zerg on Eden Prime and the brood is infesting the galaxy. He has to launch the Hammer of the Dawn to eradicate this new threat. With Arby there to form a Army of Two he went and got the Sword of Aeons through Arby's bloodline to help kill da Monkey to get to the Hammer of Dawn. Now that the Hammer was dropped and the Zerg threat eliminated, Halo Man gets his blue waifu and rides off to the sunset and pretends Halo 5 never happened. This is the start of Halo Infinite.
I can’t believe you’ve never played halo 1-3 campaigns. Like it’s just insane to me. Really missed out on the glory days. But I’m very glad you’re playing through them now.
Halo CE remastered was released before Halo 4. You should be fine to watch them even now, before ODST and Reach if you want, but please confirm it with others. Halo 4 terminals should be watched as you play through Halo 4. Halo 2 remastered terminals should be watched before starting Halo 5,tho some of the terminals could be watched earlier, while some should not. It's going to be difficult to understand the context of many terminals w/o playing the missions they were put in. Definitely get Hiddenxperia back on to help.
2:35 in the morning and i have college tomorrow, yet it was so worth it to re experience this story with someone who is just getting introduced to it. I loved the laughs, excitement, crying, and cheering. Hope you loved it and welcome to the community🤟🏻.
Having seen most of Halo 4 and bits of Halo 5 before watching this, and knowing more than half of all of Halo 1-3, the cinematography and music for the end scenes at Halo 3, which I now saw for the first time, despite even knowing the quote Chief says at the end, I still cried. That's a testament to just how well the game and the trilogy as a large was made to move me to my core even with so much of it not being my first time experiencing it.
I think he fired the shotgun once in this entire stream. Watching him drop it every time he respawned with it was painful lol. Great stream though. Edit: well he got to it eventually lol
@@LunarrMyst kinda accurate to what a shotgun should be to be honest. As long as everyone is equally skilled a player with a magnum can always beat a shotgun at midrange
I think I can speak for many people when I say that it means very much for us that you to some extend understand our experience growing up with this Trilogy. It´s not only a game it was the gaming foundation for several generations of gamers and more. For me it was my first ever game and I played it only with my dad on very very rare occasions. He´d eventually call from work saying I could setup the xbox and we were gonna play Halo.... I cannot explain how much these memories mean to me. I don´t share too many things with my dad which makes this so much more valuable. I´m tearing up over the fact that these valuable memories started to get blurry. As I said, means a lot knowing there´s a community that appreciates Halo to this extend. Thank you for digging it up again Sir.
Absolutely loving watching Milo play through what I think is the best FPS series of all time (and in running for just plain old best ever). My only complaint, albeit a minor one, is Milo's incessant need to explore the levels like it is an open world game when it very much isn't, haha! Oh well, explorers gonna explore!
Re-watching this a year later and its still is just an amazing experience to watch. Just really enjoy watching Milos first time playthrus, just so fun to witness. Hopefully soon we could see an Outer Wilds playthru and witness another amazing experience ❤
Holy shit dude you’re legitimately really smart. The way you connect ideas so fast is incredible, the little bits of text you get from the terminals is enough for you to understand everything that is being exposed story wise within each terminal, it’s actually insane. I’ve been a halo fan since I was young on Halo CE and couldn’t understand any of the story. It’s taken me countless hours of RUclips videos to explain everything to this day and you pick it up like dirt off the ground, it’s amazing. Like when I watch the RUclips videos and try understand the lore, it’s like the puzzle pieces are scattered everywhere and only some are connecting, but, (and I literally imagine this) when you are re-capping what you read into the context of the background story going on, I understand it better than I ever had and I am imagining all the puzzle pieces fitting perfectly together and it’s just soooooo clear, and you have spent a few weeks playing halo compared to my 14 years.
Honestly, this was really fun to watch! HALO 3 is my favorite game ever, and I actually learned so much from watching this! Some lore stuff I kind of knew but didn't fully grasp or understood the connections of now make sense to me. The combination of BOTH Milo and Hiddenxperia explaining the Terminals and stuff REALLY helped! Thanks for this, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing to watch someone go through what we all did back in the day. The original trilogy nostalgia. Thanks for the fun king stream milo, glad to see you in good health again.
Just a tip but when you get to ODST I think you should play it with no more than 1 person co-op. So much of the game's atmosphere is completely ruined the more people get in the game since the feeling of "isolation" is a big selling point for the campaign.
Get this guy on the ODST glyphs mystery and it’ll be solved in a week bro, like he’s understanding shit in minutes that took others much longer to understand. Some of the things he’s questioning and bringing up or alluding to… it’s almost like he’s knows way more than he acts. I know that’s not the case, but it’s super impressive.
I just discovered your journey and I have to say I am thrilled that you have enjoyed the trip as much as you did. Halo 2 may have been my first online game back in the day on my original xbox, however I remember being grounded when the beta released having bought the first Crackdown game to get access and playing the first few games at my friend's house having been there to do homework while I waited to be picked up. I was reaching the end of my sentence by the last couple days of the beta and finished the time with a bang. Halo 3 I remember at the time relative to its release was the closest thing we could get to a perfect game. Along with forge and the sharing and social aspects it brought to the table with its map. gamemode, image, and clip sharing system based around its theater mode. It was WAY ahead of its time. Top 5 games tbh and for the foreseeable future it shall remain. I am gonna watch the rest of your journey since it is perfect as a second monitor watch while I play and I am gonna look forward to see how you enjoy the rest of the story. XD
Just know this was amazing because this was my favorite campaigns of watching you experience this for the first time reminds me of doing it myself I love it! Love this Milo thanks Jc too for helping him with this and xperia
Don’t know if you will see this but I thought I’d make a small correction on something at 10:23:36. Creative Assembly did not make Halo Wars, at least not the first one. It was Ensemble Studios. Halo wars was the last game the company made before they got shut down. Halo Wars 2 was made by Creative Assembly.
This was an absolute blast to watch live and see your reactions. You went in HARD with the lore! Absolutely can't wait for your next stream to see what you make of ODST!
I love that this vod is nearly 3 years ago which is insane still come back to watch this video, growing up with you with zombies is great but halo just hits different, and is refreshing you love these series of games milo lots of love my guy hope you are well
@@blankblanny I think for ODST they should do all 30 audio logs after beating the game, it’s gonna be waaay easier to digest that side story doing it after, but I can’t wait to see Milo’s reactions and all the connections he’s gonna make in Reach!!!
Popped in a few times today, but now I’m gonna watch as much tonight and the rest tomorrow! In advance much love and I’m sure I’m gonna love it. Can’t wait to see the next 1,000,000 hour stream.
My love for this franchise…the nostalgia of these games…your complete full dive first time into it has given me a trip and have placed you guys instantly into a place in my brain I will cherish forever and look back on as positively as I love these games. Thank you guys for this lol
I honestly forgot how purely chaotic Halo on cooperative is. The intense lore discussion to the sound of death and grenades in the distance around 9:05:40 is just perfection.
There’s wayyy too much to say in one comment but I really want to gush over the ending and the chief and arbiters dynamic. Chief helped the arbiter kill truth and in return he himself comes back to save the chief and finish the fight, on THE GAWD DANG HALO RING THAT STARTED IT ALL!!! I’ve honestly played through so many times and it gives me chills EVERY TIME. And when chief says “we’ll head through the portal, and we’ll all go home” ooooh that hits different when you know what’s coming! Really loving these play throughs, can’t wait for reach, ODST, wars and wars 2
These playthroughs have been so entertaining and incredible. I dont understand the impatient viewers that just eant to watch the same campaign experience they've seen for over a decade. The Lore MAKES Halo so incredulous and Outstanding beyond just a fantastic Character driven playable story/Multiplayer experience. To think Milo is a major fan of lore and story through zombies, and the viewers simply want to watch him play the campaign exactly as they did with no speculation or pure enjoyment of the story and ir's underlying hidden truths. I applaud Milo for going so in depth in his theories and experiencing of the story, it truly is a treasure hidden beneath an already addicting gameplay.
Man I just now finished watching all 3 original trilogy vod's, and this was such a huge nostalgia trip for me that I loved every moment of. Watching your reactions of wonder and joy was just so amazing and brought back so many emotions I hadn't felt as a Halo fan for a long time and I just felt myself naturally smiling and laughing along through it all like I did all those years ago. Here's hoping I can watch your next Halo journey live, and if not I know I'll definitely be here to watch after the fact!
As someone who loved Halo so much I went back and beat every campaign on Legendary the day each game launched for the PC MCC, I love seeing people fall in love with these experiences who haven't had much exposure to them up until now. It also makes me feel better knowing my love of these games isn't simply nostalgia based
9:19:30 HiddenXperia is talking about people who have been playing Halo and taking ages to piece the lore together, and than Milo figure it out almost instantly on his first time playing… Meanwhile, Milo also got to that Easter Egg on his first attempt while his team was struggling to get to it. If that weren’t perfect timing, I don’t know what is, XD It’s a literal perfect metaphor, XD
At 6:01:20 it’s amazing how strong that part of the pelican has to be to allow both chief who weigh tons due to his armor and arbiter to step on it at about the same time mid air and hold them both and not break.
Milo tearing up even though there are 2 more main titles. Totally got convinced by the John Halo death scene. Imagine thinking it really was the last game back in 2006.
If you have the time you should watch the speed run for Halo 3 It's amazing what they do with the sandbox and are able to skip certain areas just using what the game gives them.
Milo as a start i have also never played any Halo game before in my life, but this is why i love you, play throughs like this, love the gang as well (Liam knows i love him hahahaha) But as an investigory person myself, you are playing this exactly how i would as well, and i'm loving it man, keep it up. Sorry i can't join you so much live, i try to but my insomnia forever has a grip on my life im afraid. Also fyi the dumpster thing had me actually crying dude, omg.
Milo, so the Halo 3 terminals change depending if you’re playing on legendary or not. When not playing legendary, the terminals are conversation between Librarian and Didact. When you play legendary, you get more in-depth context on the conversations so called “Gravemind” had with Mendicant Bias, to understand how he was turned against his creators. So they wanted to play the last mission on legendary so that: 1. The terminal would be Mendicant’s direct message to you and really drive the background story that was happening instead of more Didact and Librarian story. 2. So the legendary ending would play and would tease the next Halo. I can’t wait for more man, every time I re-dive into Halo lore and refresh my mind, it’s amazing and it’s so cool I get to share a refresher with your first experience ❤️👍🏽
When Milo asked why there was nothing secret in that small space before getting the skull with a gravity lift.... he was actually standing where a golden moa statue was standing in the Season 8 MCC flight
I love how when the arbiter is about to kill truth Nada he gravemind takes control at moments of truth to speak trough him and shit on his whole “journey” And as arbiter mentions the “I will have my revenge on a prophet, not a plague” gravemind just makes one more remark towards truth and leaves arbiter to his kill
I’m sure we didn’t discover it, but my buddy and I stumbled across the dumpster trick way back in the day (2008-2009) when trying to get the Wraith to mortar launch us while inside it. Not sure it worked the same way exactly but we ended up off the edge as well and never knew how to replicate it.
"I have beaten fleets of THOUSANDS! CONSUMED a galaxy of flesh and mind and BONE!" "Resignation is my virtue; like water I ebb, and flow. Defeat is simply the addition of time to a sentence I never deserved... but you imposed." Two of my favorite Gravemind quotes and they are very hard to hear, sadly.
watching you experience these games for the first time has brought back all the feels... enjoy ODST and Reach, additional content to consume would be Forward Unto Dawn, mini series\film prior to playing Halo 4
7:56:30 This is actually a reference to the movie series “Halo: The Fall of Reach”. Since you definitely played Halo Reach already, I would recommend watching this. Whether on your own time or as a reaction video. (I’ve also posted this on my long post, but think putting this on a separate comment since it’s pretty interesting) Edit: 8:01:30 Didn’t know about the book, but maybe that too
You should have watched the iconic bubble shield trailer at the beginning. Also fun fact: some sections of water in the first mission don't have a death barrier.
And as Hiddenexperia said, the terminal at 8:01:00 is reference to the first Halo novel, "The Fall of Reach", but a LOT of Cortana's dialog in this mission does beyond that, but I won't say what since you said you might read the book (there's also a comic and an animated adaption of the novel, tho the animated adaption only covers the first half)
Lastly, I gave a donation about this, but I'll say it again: You should consider hosting a stream where you react to the Halo Legends anime episodes, and the Halo Evolution motion comics. These were made after Halo 3 but before Halo 4, and each episode/motion comic is it's own short story featuring different characters and exploring different genres. It's a great way to get a taste of the EU without needing to read a whole book (though I'd LOVE watching your thoughts on each Halo novel too!)
You are a legend, loved your comments on the Halo 2 vod
Iconic comment.

Fighting a bunch of flood infected arbiters would have been so cool, I wish they had that in there.
no wonder halo 3's story felt toned down compared to halo 2 I didn't know that
What a truly iconic night
Excuse me sir, I'm gonna have to ask you to hand over your Lore Card
I learned so much about my favourite game of all time, what a stream. So glad infinite is bringing in a new generation of halo gamers
Thanks for playing with Milo. I hope you all can play through the next games together too.
I'm am here to say hi
“What can I say? it was a hell of a night.”
We sent him out... With a bang.

Great stream JC, Milo and Xperia!

The fact he teared/cried at the ending like almost everyone did, a % of my life is complete

Honestly can't wait to see you play Halo 4. Halo Odst has a lot of hidden lore in it also which will be right up your alley.

And the fact that you're all such a bunch of great guys and keep it clean for the most part is just a bonus - thanks so much for posting and I look forward to the rest of the streams!
this is a really wondewrful comment, glad you've been enjoying the streams!!
This series has been the best so far. I've been on this stream since it started and now I am tired but it was great. SHOUT OUT TO Hiddenxperia, Liam, And JCBackfire. This had been the best...
A Masterpiece
Correcting Xperia what a Chad
@@thejfoshow1320 to be fair he was vastly simplifying it to not just straight blow Milo's mind in the moment. It's cooler to think about when you have the time to absorb it. Plus it is really complicated
But still, in lore this is why the covenant is faster at slip space travel than the UNSC, their anti gravitic drives produces immensely stronger acceleration which also carries into slip space.
This is an unbelievable experience, and Milo is an extraordinary lore deducer.
Finding Morse Code Easter Egg in the first time playing, while both JC and HiddenXperia didn’t know about it.
And then caught on about that space elevator from Halo 2…
Meanwhile takes almost half an hour to figure out the Gravemind is Flood.

Whenever I needed to know something I came right to your channel :)
I wanted to preface with this because when I saw the first couple Halo first time playthrough vods, I was SHOCKED! It was like two online worlds colliding! I grew up with Halo, Halo 2 was my first, it given to me by a kind neighbor (I cried at the end lol). It's definitely my most nostalgic game series, played splitscreen with my best friend ENDLESSLY, first through the story seriously, and then replaying for relaxation or "dumb fun", you know how that can be now :)
So to see these familiar faces, personalities getting into a series I hold dear? It's magical. I've been entertained and engaged for these entire streams, it's pretty crazy to think about.
Anyway, thank you so much for streaming this! I absolutely dig how respectful you are of the games and getting an authentic experience, it's a bit rare to see sometimes:
lots of content creators can be a bit one note, being silly through the entirety of something with disregard for story or music, others only engage with those serious things and miss out on goofier stuff.
Bungie was the developer for Halo 3 not 343 but yeah I agree
@@alphaexpress6881 I know, I said that I wished 343 did something similar to credits for each of the games to recreate the anxiousness that credits used to before the epilogue. I know bungie made halo 3, I've been playing the game for 11 years now.

There is something so ICONIC about seeing Milo, JC, and Luc playing Halo together.
During the Cortana mission, it almost physically hurt to see Milo drop the shotgun in favor of the carbine.
Halo is a story about Halo Man, fighting demons on Mars.

Seeing him tear up at the end was beautiful
Milo, you should watch the ODST trailer before playing ODST. also maybe the Believe trailers with the veterans from the human-covenant war
7:29:52 Is probably my favorite part. Your face just brought me back to when I was a kid and first experienced it

Watching the last 5 minutes live almost made me cry such heart felt words being said
So glad these vods exist
XD

Don’t know if you will see this but I thought I’d make a small correction on something at 10:23:36. Creative Assembly did not make Halo Wars, at least not the first one. It was Ensemble Studios. There’s wayyy too much to say in one comment but I really want to gush over the ending and the chief and arbiters dynamic.

I applaud Milo for going so in depth in his theories and experiencing of the story, it truly is a treasure hidden beneath an already addicting gameplay.

the wait between games is perfect, it takes about that long just to finish each stream
Milo as a start i have also never played any Halo game before in my life, but this is why i love you, play throughs like this, love the gang as well (Liam knows i love him hahahaha)

I love how when the arbiter is about to kill truth
Nada he gravemind takes control at moments of truth to speak trough him and shit on his whole “journey”
And as arbiter mentions the “I will have my revenge on a prophet, not a plague” gravemind just makes one more remark towards truth and leaves arbiter to his kill
Milo reading/figuring out the terminals is the highlight of the stream

Its really cool seeing someone new enjoy the series welcome to the fandom Milo!
You’re the best, Milo! We’ll see you on the next stream!
These play through’s have been so fun to tune into can’t wait for you to see the next era of the franchise!
Rewatching this for the second time! Still a gem of a VOD 👌
Seeing your excitement makes me so happy!
I like how hidden xperia came back during milo’s talk in the least sensic portion
i have been watching the entire playtrough of the three games and its absolutely amazing
Halo 3 was my favorite one! ❤️❤️
So apparently the Terminals change depending on the difficulty. Especially Terminal 5.
Im a quarter of the way through landfall for the first time, after growing up on halo, and im in love.
Man I can't wait for ODST and Reach , Both are gonna be so awesome
Dear god, from watching him struggle to name what faction the grave mind belonged to, to him comprehending some some of the terminals so well.
Halo 4 trailer gives me goosebumps each time! Can’t wait for that stream!
That’s it. Im replaying Halo 3.
"I have beaten fleets of THOUSANDS! CONSUMED a galaxy of flesh and mind and BONE!"
"Resignation is my virtue; like water I ebb, and flow. Defeat is simply the addition of time to a sentence I never deserved... but you imposed."
Two of my favorite Gravemind quotes and they are very hard to hear, sadly.
Fun fact, in forward unto dawn you can give fuel rod cannons to all 4 of your marines that are riding your scorpion, coolest thing in this mission
watching you experience these games for the first time has brought back all the feels... enjoy ODST and Reach, additional content to consume would be Forward Unto Dawn, mini series\film prior to playing Halo 4

This is actually a reference to the movie series “Halo: The Fall of Reach”.
Since you definitely played Halo Reach already, I would recommend watching this. Whether on your own time or as a reaction video.
(I’ve also posted this on my long post, but think putting this on a separate comment since it’s pretty interesting)
Edit:

Didn’t know about the book, but maybe that too
You should have watched the iconic bubble shield trailer at the beginning. Also fun fact: some sections of water in the first mission don't have a death barrier.
I can't wait to see him play the rest of the series!!!
I enjoyed the stream! Can’t wait for Halo 3 ODST and Reach👌
