I mean he just didn’t like it??? Like what? The space mission part is boring asf and the beginning is way too short, you really only get half a decent level
Exactly! It's most definitely S+ tier. Wandering around Mombasa streets at night, dodging Covenant patrols, scanning for clues, uncovering hidden bits of environmental story telling, all with what is easily my favourite Halo soundtrack out of the whole series is just incredible. When I think about it I still get emotional and nostalgic about my childhood. I miss those days.
Quarantine Zone should be s tier due to how amazing it all is, and I cannot believe you didn't mention the music in that level. Reclaimer and 100,000 Years War are simply amazing.
That mission has always been among my favorites. Something about an ecological & biological dead-zone kept in perpetual winter, filled with monolithic mysterious forerunner structures. And that massive creepy fucking wall, specifically built to contain the Flood. It is so goddamn atmospheric.
people may disagree with me on this but I believe that the best halo mission is lone wolf, it is the perfect way to end halo reach especially with the objective that you are given, which is literally impossible and the fact that you cannot complete your final objective is really symbolic of reach as a whole with noble team not being able to stop the covenant from glassing reach
The Storm was always my favorite Halo mission as a kid. Honestly. Tsavo Highway through The Covenant might be the best 5 consecutive levels in any game period.
@@beam5655 I would argue halo is mediocre while having a fantastic atmosphere and truth and reconciliation is just straight awful for how boring and long the interior section is.
The only reason I believe that Silent Cartographer should be bumped up from S tier to S+ is the start of that mission with foehammer. I constantly get pumped when she yells "HIT IT MARINES"
Oh the double scarab was definitely satisfying. And in the Ark when you meet up and the frigget delivers transport and you pretty much have to take cover because objects would fly at you
Honestly really weird to see you praising all the halo reach levels for things that gave levels from other games A or S and then putting the reach levels down in B or C near the halo 5 levels that you hated. Other than most of the reach rankings, awesome list and great video
Floodgate is my personal favroite Halo level, it's so beautiful in a ominous way. Seeing all the flood mist and the giant Ark portal in the sky was so memorable.
Oh come on...I thought the Halo 5 Sanghelios Missions were the best in the Campaign. Alongside the final mission. Granted, it was kinda silly to reduce Master Chief into a damsel in destress, but seeing Swarms of Guardians teleporting across the Galaxy, hearing Legions of Smart Ai's pledge to Cortana's Ecumene, the Covenant Remnants trying to survive against resurgent legions of Forerunner Terminators while Cortana goes utterly insane...it was quite immersive.
Mombasa Streets for me would be near the top of S+ tier. The atmosphere (night time, music, all on your own) is unmatched in Halo. It is endlessly replayable, it has vehicles, heavy weapons and exploration. What really sets it apart though and makes it entirely unique is that the level itself, the actual buildings and environment, tell a story. From the graffiti to the rooms with dead marines or covenant, the dead elites, evidence of events earlier in the day, Vergil's warnings, directions and communication and Sadie's story! It absolutely fantastic, not just a great Halo misison but one of the best missions in any videogame

It’s crazy how much you praise the halo reach missions but just stick them in b-tier… I feel like you’ve never given the reach campaign the love it deserves. No halo campaign deals so many gut punches and exudes desperation and it does the whole military sci-fi shtick better than any halo game. There’s no power fantasy, you and your team are mortals and you are sacrificing your lives in an unwinnable fight.
I love the story, but like I said in the video I've never enjoyed (and still don't enjoy) Reach's sandbox, enemy design and in some cases, level design
Yeah I feel the same way. Long Night of Solace was hyped up to be an A or S tier mission but he stuck it in B tier That mission is my favorite 20 minutes of all of gaming
Once you get past that 'punching upwards' desperation narrative, Reach doesn't really have much going for it IMO. Long Night of Solace is just a generic space infiltration mission. Exodus is just a generic city invasion mission. Nightfall is just a generic night-time stealth mission. They're generally pretty well-made missions, but (at the risk of sounding cliche) you could stick them in COD and you'd be none the wiser.
@@tTaseric you can call any halo mission generic but that’s disingenuous at best. Long night of solace is not “a generic space infiltration mission”. It starts boots on the ground defending a facility, moves into space combat area defense which is a first in the entire series against banshees, seraphs, and phantoms, which then moves into direct capital ship combat, once again a first for the series. You then infiltrate the covenant ship and eventually have a firefight on the bridge. You see the UNSC Savannah destroyed in front of your eyes. It then ends with an incredible sacrifice involving most peoples favorite member of noble team, only for the audience to quickly realize how futile our efforts are. How is this generic? No halo mission ever has so many different set pieces and combat environments. It’s either ignorance or intentional hate that so many people harbor over halo reach’s campaign. If the gameplay and multiplayer wasn’t your favorite, I get that. But the halo reach campaign as an experience is second only to Halo 2 in the series. What missions in halo CE/2/3 do you consider generic?
So, you’ve mentioned how you’re not a fan of the gameplay of some of the games and that had me thinking: Halo gameplay/mechanic tier list? I’d love to know why you didn’t like Reach when it’s the Halo which had the best mechanics for my playstyle.
Silent cartographer easily my favorite map, i think it was actually the demo level because me and my buddy used to sit there day after day and play that level with the epic storming of the beach straight off of the Pelican. Legendary, great list man!
My friend played 343 Guilty Spark for the first time the other day and watching him go through it gave me chills 🤣 I fully agree that Halo CE Flood is the best version as they are so damn relentless!
12:48I love how you watch the hunters bang on the glass witch shows the strength of the beasts, then the doors slowly open as you horrifyingly realize that you have to fight them the horror vibes are great, best introduction to a new enemy in halo other than the flood.
I think I love halo 3 and halo reach so much because of the nostalgia factor. From ages 13 to 18 I played those games like crazy. They will always be at the top in my opinion.
You ever feel like the biggest mistake 343 made was not making a game. They set up this whole story of Cortana attacking Earth and all the other planets. It would have been an amazing campaign, we barely win but than the Banished who waited come out of slip space. That's the end cutscene. Than we do halo infinite. I mean they skipped a whole story and explained what happened by just saying shit in cutscenes.
I spent the most time playing halo CE as it was the only one I had growing up, I think the most played level was the maw. Maybe truth and reconciliation, mainly for the first sniping section. Honestly, even the library was great.
48:23 Yes Yes finally I’ve been waiting for someone to talk about this soundtrack piece (it’s called arrival by the way) it such a good soundtrack piece. I always feel invincible when it plays and I will literally kill my character sometimes when it stops playing just so it reverts to the last checkpoint resetting the soundtrack.
Whenever I get to the part of Jun going "No, gonna still it back." I always feel him having the most cheekiest of grins when saying it. Always loved it.
I honestly dont understand why he has such a problem with Reach gameplay, way better than halo 4 and 5's gameplay and story imo not a single halo 5 mission should rank above any of Reach's missions
Halo Reach for me has the best campaign out of any game, almost every mission has a unique vibe or gameplay idea and for me, it's the only game made by Bungie (aside from CE) where the combat actually clicks, where most weapons find their viable role in the sandbox and the enemies are the scariest to fight. Halo 2 and Halo 3 have more memorable moments but I feel so frustrated sometimes at how bad almost every weapon is (energy weapons dont take out shields all that well, brute weapons are so underwhelming in terms of damage output at close range, human weapons can feel like toy guns...)
Personally covenant needs it’s own tier. It went from confusion and fear of trusting the flood, to excited to kill truth, then the back to back scene. But the scene where they reveal the rebuilding halo, I have had amazement and goosebumps like that in ages omg with the halo theme too omg🥰🥰🥰🥺🥺🥺❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
The Mission “Floodgate” gave me nightmares when I was a kid, I still can’t play it without an uneasy feeling. The Flood in Halo 3 will always be my favorite, seeing them latch onto a marine and mutate them is fucking terrifying, I would love to see Halo 3 flood with the Halo 2 Anniversary Design.
Good list and ranking . For me , Pillar of Autumn from Halo Reach , goes in S tier . You really get to fell, that the planet is on its last legs , it’s Blue Teams last and most important objective . Even if the battle is already lost and the whole thing comes crushing down even further , by handling Cortana to captain Keyes you give humanity hope and it’s very best chance of survival . Noble Six makes the ultimate sacrifice by handling the MAC gun at the very last moment so that the Autumn can take off. Hell, it frigging ends where CE starts !!!!Also the Master chief ( or Linda ?) cameo towards the end ,while the Autumn leaves the shipyard is pretty cool. In addition ,Tip of the Spear should be higher on the list because it’s the first open and large scale engagement in the battle of reach . Good variation , interesting objectives that make sense , action packed , land and air vehicles , just a little bit of everything . Lots of ways to tackle it
I think my favorite level is a three-way-tie between Halo (Halo 3), Uprising (Halo 2), and Mombasa Streets (ODST). Halo I love mostly because of the full circle feeling you get being back on a Halo ring near the end of the trilogy and one of the main reasons I love it is that last terminal. The final message from Mendicant Bias is really good and it makes you feel like you’re fulfilling an ancient prophecy or something. Also the warthog run, I could play that segment forever. Uprising I actually picked because of your video on it, everything you said about it in that video was what I felt since I first played it. I love how well it shows the Great Schism through combat and scripted sequences and it has great replay value. Mombasa Streets is very personal to me. ODST is my favorite Halo game and the atmosphere exploring the dark city in the rain elicits a feeling from me that I haven’t gotten from any other game. I’ve always loved the rain in real life so it connected with me from the get-go and I always love revisiting it. I also really like the idea of piecing together what happened to your squad as the Rookie while Vergil helps you out in subtle ways.
Why not Halo Boss Fight tier list? Ah who am I kidding, the Guilty Spark fight in Halo 3 is the pinnacle of dynamic gameplay and just blows all the rest of them out of the water.
Truth and Reconciliation will always be my favorite. it's the first Halo experience I've ever had. When the keyboard and drums kick in when you pass the first groups of enemies. Shit really hits home for me
My favourite missions are the arbiter from halo 2, the ark and floodgate and tip of the spear, because i feel like that beginning cutscene really showed how much humanity fought for mankind.
Hey Luc, with your blessing, because otherwise it would seem like copying. I'd love to do a video on this tier list myself. Also, you could challenge the rest of the halo community, curious to see everyone's choices in there own videos.
This is my own headcannon. But the counselor honorguard at the end of gravemind. I've always thought that maybe there was a counselor and a honor guard that knew eachother personally and fought to find eachother. until the guard fell in combat. And it inspired the counselor to take his battle armor and in a blind rage kill everything he could to avenge him.
My favorite level is a tie between The Ark and The Covenant from Halo 3. Both beautiful and fantastic open levels full of amazing sections, especially with the Forward Unto Dawn flying in and blowing everything away. The fact that they’re both back to back missions makes it all the more better.
I really like the Cartographer from Halo CE because it was the demo mission on PC. Used to play it over and over when I was younger before I had any of the Halos
I'd have to say that my favorite is a tie between Outskirts and Metropolis (seeing as how they were meant to be one level originally, I think that's fair). Fighting an alien enemy in a (somewhat) familiar environment will never not be surreal to me, and rolling down the bridge in a Scorpion with a crew of rocket marines will always make me feel like such a badass. Halo 2 was my first Halo game, it was the first game I'd ever completed start to finish, and the 2nd and 3rd levels of the game are what really hooked me on the series.
How to make Hidden Xperia’s ideal level. Lots of sentinels, cool forerunner structures, underground areas and elite zealots. My question is what’s your issue with Reach’s gameplay? You didn’t really explain it much. Reach has a the biggest variety of enemies in any Bungie game, each species and class of species has unique weapons, shield and health pool, and behavior. There’s more of a variety of equipment and weaponry for the player to use. Each mission has areas that offer different pathways to choose to engage from. I just feel like you kinda shunned reach without a real explanation in this video.
The Ark is always my go-to when I need campaign missions done for MCC challenges. The mix of infantry and vehicles encounters, combined with the soundtrack, are an absolute chef's kiss.
11:24 it’s nice to hear some halo 5 appreciation, as someone who quietly enjoyed the game while mass hysteria broke out it’s refreshing to hear recognition of what it got right- when its usually ignored to argue the whole game is a mistake
i feel you. i don’t like the story much but halo 5’s atmosphere makes it very enjoyable. although gameplay is… relatively ok, it holds a lot of nostalgia for me as it was the only thing i would play for 5 years bc adolescent me liked the graphics way too much 😭
@@ems-got-legs the story itself is fundamentally not halo, that’s its main issue. As someone who started with halo 3 coop I liked the gameplay in 5 as I had mates to join online. The lack of split screen annoyed me but campaign, war zone and MP compensated for that
I was playing it yesterday - quiet appreciation is a good phrase. I think it aged better than I’d imagined it would. Only thing I can’t get behind is the dismal soundtrack and most of the sound design (barring the AR, that shit sounds so sick)
Honestly, I agree with almost all of this, but I'd put Gravemind to S+. It was my most favorite level and "Blow Me Away" introduced me to Breaking Benjamin, and their music is what got me through my middle school and high school life. Very solid video though, thank you for the amazing content as always!
Exodus is hands down my favorite mission ever. It’s so real and raw. One of the most epic levels ever with some of the most sad events. Exodus really made me think ab the true scale and destruction the covenant are capable of.
Prediction: All Bungie Halo levels will be ranked high, all 343 Halo levels will be ranked low, all Flood levels will be ranked highest despite being the most annoying. Energy-Sword me if I am wrong.
I think Halo (H3) would have been perfect if the valley that the control room is in was an exact replica of the one from Assault on the Control Room (because it should be considering that ring is a replica of Installation 04).
Before watching: since he once made a video defending it, I'd say The Library rates pretty high. Not S or higher since his preferred way to play requires additional steps beyond just choosing difficulty though.
I would have put the Mombasa streets way higher, the silent rookie, the tapes you find, and the way Vergil leads you around the map is just amazing, I grew up with Halo 3 ODST, I love it more then anything
I'm glad you're rating the 343 games unbiased. I am a good fan of 343 and I just think they are trying their best so I want to be positive. P.S. I really enjoyed the h5 combat and weapons, and I'm really excited for infinite forge.😀
I expected Delta Halo to be S+ :) Also great all-round Halo gameplay by foot, light vehicles & scorpion, and as HiddenXperia said: great theming and music.
Absolutely
people may disagree with me on this but I believe that the best halo mission is lone wolf, it is the perfect way to end halo reach especially with the objective that you are given, which is literally impossible and the fact that you cannot complete your final objective is really symbolic of reach as a whole with noble team not being able to stop the covenant from glassing reach
As long as The Storm is S tier I will agree with the whole list
So short, but soooo good
The Storm was always my favorite Halo mission as a kid. Honestly. Tsavo Highway through The Covenant might be the best 5 consecutive levels in any game period.
@@343Films First 5 missions of Halo CE give it a run for its money.
@@beam5655 I would argue halo is mediocre while having a fantastic atmosphere and truth and reconciliation is just straight awful for how boring and long the interior section is.
@@343Films definitely good take
The only reason I believe that Silent Cartographer should be bumped up from S tier to S+ is the start of that mission with foehammer. I constantly get pumped when she yells "HIT IT MARINES"
The Covenant is an S tier level, it's too iconic. Plus the double scarab fight is awesome. Definitely the best part of halo 3
idk bro from tsavo highway to the covenant is basically all s tier for me such good atmosphere and definitely all deserve to be highly ranked
Best part of 'H A L O'
Oh the double scarab was definitely satisfying. And in the Ark when you meet up and the frigget delivers transport and you pretty much have to take cover because objects would fly at you
Honestly really weird to see you praising all the halo reach levels for things that gave levels from other games A or S and then putting the reach levels down in B or C near the halo 5 levels that you hated. Other than most of the reach rankings, awesome list and great video
Reach got done bad in this tier list
This tier list honestly isn't great at all, so many contradictions
Yeah no reach missions should be anywhere near halo 5's garbage😂😂
Floodgate is my personal favroite Halo level, it's so beautiful in a ominous way. Seeing all the flood mist and the giant Ark portal in the sky was so memorable.
The scene where the shadow of the intent came and the elites came to help you was really good and memorable too.
That's my 2nd favourite mission my personal favourite has to go to the package.
I just love the ominous sky box
Oh come on...I thought the Halo 5 Sanghelios Missions were the best in the Campaign. Alongside the final mission. Granted, it was kinda silly to reduce Master Chief into a damsel in destress, but seeing Swarms of Guardians teleporting across the Galaxy, hearing Legions of Smart Ai's pledge to Cortana's Ecumene, the Covenant Remnants trying to survive against resurgent legions of Forerunner Terminators while Cortana goes utterly insane...it was quite immersive.
Looking forward to the Elite voice line tier list 👍
S tier: WORT WORT WORT!
AUUUUUUHHHHHHHH!!!

QZ is hands down my favorite mission. The music, the setting, and enemies make it one of the most interesting in the series. Plus it leads up to the best cutscene ever. AND ARBY HAS HIS OWN THEME IN IT!
I love how quick your excitement changes when you talk about Halo 5 lol
it's like
"...AND THAT'S WHY IT'S DESERVING OF S+ TIER, WHAT A GREAT MISSION, NOW ON TO OUR NEXT ONE WHICH is from halo 5.....yeah i think this is the one where you...uh...you fight the prometheans and...yeah it's an okay level, bottom of c tier"
God the ODST armour is just so damn nice 😍 love the ODST campaign with all it's unique aspects
343GS literally gave me nightmares as a child and I couldn't complete it until years later because of it.
Love it.
This, and later on in Gears of war, the 1st Beserker level, we hard blocks for me as a kid. I hadn't actually beaten GOW until I was like 16 because of that level

It’s crazy how much you praise the halo reach missions but just stick them in b-tier…
I feel like you’ve never given the reach campaign the love it deserves.
Long Night of Solace was hyped up to be an A or S tier mission but he stuck it in B tier
That mission is my favorite 20 minutes of all of gaming
@@shahmirm7226 holy cope
Id say "The Maw" would be my favourite level. Shot gunning Flood to epic music and then the first warthog run. Timeless.
Fighting against 2 scarabs at the same time with a hornet is probably one of my best childhood memories
flying octopus monkeys should be in the next Avatar TLA series, sounds like it would belong right in that universe.
Does Avatar have a recently-freed army of Precursor-Spawn freed by a vengeful army of Alien rebels?
no
they have momo
The music that plays near the end on Midnight is Arrival.
Safe to say, it's the best music on 4's entire OST
So, you’ve mentioned how you’re not a fan of the gameplay of some of the games and that had me thinking: Halo gameplay/mechanic tier list? I’d love to know why you didn’t like Reach when it’s the Halo which had the best mechanics for my playstyle.
favourite mission new alexandria, hate library, most of reach levels are amazing
the Reach slander is just out of pocket..
Giving the Covenant back their bomb, is probably the most badass scene in gaming (especially anniversary edition)
That one cutscene on winter contingency was fucking awesome. Love the music
After playing DMC, hearing people talking to Virgil seems so jarring to me
48:22 The track is called Arrival. One of my top 3 all time favorite pieces of Halo soundtrack. Even better than 117 imo.
Xperia you’ve made my day, not only with this awesome tier list but as well as S-teiring Blue Team
12:48I love how you watch the hunters bang on the glass witch shows the strength of the beasts, then the doors slowly open as you horrifyingly realize that you have to fight them the horror vibes are great, best introduction to a new enemy in halo other than the flood.
uhhhh the hunters have been in halo since the first installment
Also when people say that halo 4 didn’t have a good soundtrack I always think back to this piece
@@thatoneguy8146 that’s the only one
I remember when i beat halo 3 ODST in one night with a friend. and then he said "that was one hell of a night" and that gave me goosebumps
My favourites of all time are The Ark, Quarantine Zone, Data Hive, and Two Betrayals
Confused me the entire video
Tbh halo 4-5 gameplay is so bad that no bungie halo level should be below in ranking just for that alone
halo reach getting disregarded when it's the best halo game of all time is just insane
I remember Reach because it had an important moment almost every level. The ending was probably one of the best an any video I've played
I loved reach but the complete departure from the books killed it for me
Personally covenant needs it’s own tier.
Your instance of Halo Reach looks...different? 😳
As a kid, I never even finished Halo 3 because of that level. I only finished the campaign recently as an adult and was still uneasy.
@@migueljuarez6788 for real, the one bit that truly gave me nightmares was the point in the beginning where you see the marine get infected alive.
Shit really hits home for me
“I can’t rank cutscenes that high because there’s no gameplay”
*Proceeds to put The Heretic in S Tier*
It deserves it tho
My favourite missions are the arbiter from halo 2, the ark and floodgate and tip of the spear, because i feel like that beginning cutscene really showed how much humanity fought for mankind.
Sir, Reach is objectively the best Halo game.
Hey Luc, with your blessing, because otherwise it would seem like copying. I'd love to do a video on this tier list myself. Also, you could challenge the rest of the halo community, curious to see everyone's choices in there own videos.
39:01 why is nobody talking about how amazing this transition is?? Great video btw I love these tier list videos
It also has its own vibes to it
I’m curious as to why you don’t think enemies are fun to fight in Reach because it’s my personal favourite Halo game.
The Covenant is still the best Halo mission and i don't think it will ever be surpassed .
Armor tier list? Kinda difficult but could work
I'd have to say that my favorite is a tie between Outskirts and Metropolis (seeing as how they were meant to be one level originally, I think that's fair).
19:05 I have to admit that Covenant is my favorite level in the franchise as well, it really is a perfect showcase of what Halo is all about.
RIP to the cinematography of the classic Halos
Gone but not forgotten
How to make Hidden Xperia’s ideal level. Lots of sentinels, cool forerunner structures, underground areas and elite zealots.
My question is what’s your issue with Reach’s gameplay? You didn’t really explain it much. Reach has a the biggest variety of enemies in any Bungie game, each species and class of species has unique weapons, shield and health pool, and behavior. There’s more of a variety of equipment and weaponry for the player to use. Each mission has areas that offer different pathways to choose to engage from. I just feel like you kinda shunned reach without a real explanation in this video.
Yeah i honestly have no idea what his problem with the gameplay is, some of the best imo and definitely better than 4&5
The Ark is always my go-to when I need campaign missions done for MCC challenges. The mix of infantry and vehicles encounters, combined with the soundtrack, are an absolute chef's kiss.
They should make a snow level playlist for Christmas in mcc.
love these tier lists and longer vids! keep em coming!
What a list of spicy takes. Some serious eyebrow raisers! Great video man, looking forward to the rest!
Don’t call it mass hysteria. It is still a bad game. Don’t be a contrarian.
Honestly, I agree with almost all of this, but I'd put Gravemind to S+. It was my most favorite level and "Blow Me Away" introduced me to Breaking Benjamin, and their music is what got me through my middle school and high school life. Very solid video though, thank you for the amazing content as always!
Halo 3s Covenant is still my all time favorite level.

And that moment where Cortana says 'you always take me to such nice places', is just superb! Funny he literally said it's one of his favorite H2 levels and then he puts most of the other H2 levels above it. Was that a mistake? :p
