- I am no fretless player, but here is a little “Last Chance” played both 2 finger and Clawhammer style on the Kentucky Style tackhead I just built. #banjo #tackheadbanjo #oldtimemusic #clawhammerbanjo #clinchriverbanjoco
Favorited on about the fifth note. To be listened to again and again and again.
That was lovely Steven. Makes me want to slow this one down and try playing it like you.
Very nice steven. You make it sing.
First comment to say that was beautiful!
That's was fabulous. Thanks for sharing
That sounds great! I learned this as rambling hobo from Doc Watson. If you haven't heard his recording of it you should give a listen. He gives a little back story on how he learned it which makes it feel even more special to me
Sounds fantastic. I love your style. You play so clean.
So peaceful
Thank you for sharing this, it was a great way to end my day! Would love to see more of the left hand in the future :)
Un son délicieux comme un ruisseau qui coule..
A nice change and slower tempo more preferable than Hobart Smiths attempt at breaking a speed record. 👍🏻
i love the banjo
Wish I could see that left hand too. very good
Great playing
EXCELLENT!! FIRST PLACE FOR YOU!!
How is it that I'm from Kentucky and have never heard of this kind of banjo. This is so cool
Google “Kentucky style mountain banjo” and you will see the inspiration for these tackheads. I was born in Hopkinsville so these are an ode to my Kentucky roots, even though I’ve lived in VA my entire life pretty much.
Iemm from no city 👻
Just lovely! Makes me want a fretless.
Wonderful playing and beautiful banjo!!! ❤️
Sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Woa this is awesome! Such a cool sound!
Thats a sweet sounding banjo
almost like a shamisen
I was thinking the same thing!
You've got a real clear and deliberate style, my man. Sounds great, like every note got its own lil farm in the country. That banjo is wild too, what is that pot like 2" deep?
The pots are 3” deep
Sounds great!!! Next time, show off that banjo a bit so we can see how it's made and set up. Don't be bashful!
Congrats both on that lovely looking fretless tackhead you made as well as your great sounding dual style version of Last Chance. What tuning are you using?
fCFcd but I’m just a little flat from that. The strings have been settling and stretching the last few days of this banjos new life
Thanks for your reply. Jim Pankey refers to that tuning as old f, and I just used it for a version of Sandy River Belle. Now I want to learn Last Chance using that as well.
Love this sound. Anyone know any musiciand that have used this type of banjo in their songs?
Check out “Earth Tones” by Adam Hurt
He plays gourd banjos a lot
I've hitted the 100th like on this!!!!
Is this the same tune as Cripple Creek? It sounds very similar... Great playing!!
By chance, do you have a tab 2 finger style? If not, would mind recording playing so I can watch your left hand? Wonderful playing.
Awesome sound. What strings are you using?
Aquila Medium Nylguts
You got a tab for this my dude?
Sweet 💩
I can’t explain it but this sounds like Kentucky. It doesn’t sound like Georgia Alabama our Tennessee it only sounds like Kentucky.
