  • Pumped down 6 individual high-wall split systems to make way for a new Daikin Heat Recovery 3 Pipe VRV unit. This was a lot of fun to do. I’m excited I get to work on more of these complete units moving forward.

    Shouldn't ever use b presses on annealed copper, in fact I'm sure it says not to use them on the data sheets, it compresses too easily and never seals right. I only use on hard drawn, but you can't go past soldering.
    Awesome to see more Aussies techs doing videos. It's great to bounce ideas and knowledge off each other.

      I’ve been meaning to look into the data sheets for them. It’s seems they will become more prevalent going forward, but I’m the same with soldering.
      Thanks mate, the interactions with people on here have been great. I’ve learnt good information from the comments. Like you said, it’s great to bounce information and ideas off each other.

    Nice job! Keep doing what you do, your channel will continue to grow, great content. You should look in to the fieldpiece vacuum pump, I love mine and makes oil change much easier without having to stop your vacuum.

      Thanks mate, love the feedback! I used the fieldpiece vacuum pump with my last company and absolutely loved it. My new company provides the CPS one but I’m considering just purchasing my own. Either the Fieldpiece of the Appion. Love the oil change one the fly, so much better.

    I've always been told/advised never to B-press soft drawn. A lot of installs 3 years old or less I've seen leaks with soft drawn. Good video too!

      Thanks mate. That’s interesting. I’ve never had the opportunity to do an install with them, I just always follow up after it’s all done. I need to do more research into it. Have you used them much?

      @@hvacraustralia I don't do a lot of installs but I have used the Rothenberger one a few times on some install jobs, its very nice for the fact that you can put piperuns up way quicker than soldering but I still feel more comfortable and confident inspecting a weld I have done than a b-press

    • @hvacraustralia
      @hvacraustralia  Год назад

      I’m the same. I haven’t used it for installs and prefer inspecting welds. Maybe one day I’ll get to test it and bit more.

      conex bänninger (b press fitting manufacturer) do state in their tech data that you can b press on soft drawn copper.
      I’ve heard same thing from people saying to not do it.
      But then again I’ve seen plenty of soft drawn copper b pressed that have been installedfor years with no issues.

    Hey Mate, for an interesting bit of reading get a copy of ASHRAE RP1808. They did a small sample test between different fitting types and suggested when properly installed there was a 1% failure rate. They probably needed to sample more though. From an engineers perspective I would only be specifying them where the risk of open flame is unacceptable, e.g. heritage wooden structure, etc.

    • @joelmcdermott7129

      Their tests did show brazing has its own failures when done by inexperienced installers, but atleast with brazing its easier to see the potential mistake and rectify.

    • @hvacraustralia
      @hvacraustralia  Год назад

      That’s interesting. They’re one of those things that I haven’t used for installs. I’m so used to brazing so I just do that. I’ll have to look into them more. The benefits are definitely there, especially for places like this one where they have fire alarms all over the place.

      Thanks mate. The best place to get information on VRV/F is from the service manuals. There is a lot of great information in them. Learning how things should work is a great way to know when they’re not operating as they should.

      Thanks mate. It’s all Appion gear. You can buy it all individually but this is from the MegaFlow kit they sell. Awesome for larger systems.

    Great vid. When you put it in mode 2:20 were you able to charge via the liquid line?

    • @hvacraustralia
      @hvacraustralia  Год назад +1

      Thanks mate. It’s basically just a forced cooling option so I slowly charged through the suction. I broke the vacuum with half the additional charge through the liquid line before opening the stop valves though.

    B-Press is awful, deforms the pipe and structural integrity of it.
    RLS is far better to use from my experience!
    Love these videos, keep them coming. I also saw another one of your colleagues that does videos on TikTok or is that you aswell?

      I’m still yet to use b-press. But next install I’d love to try the RLS system.
      I only heard of this recently! It’s not me. He’s a great tech! Worth following.
