I've been dying my hair red for about 6 months now. The first time I got it done professionally, and since then I've touched it up myself. I've tried everything (Splat, Manic Panic) and I tried this process last night. The results are AMAZING! Way more vibrant and obviously red than what I did before. Thank you!!!
it's called "hot roots". you should always do previously dyed hair first, then put it on your roots for around 10-15mins after it's been on the rest of your hair for about 10-15mins.

@@brunonaseddu2551 it does depends on the dye use. like if u use loreal reds, ur supposed to use 30-40vol because the color needs that to turn the right color. but u would treat the grays like the rest of your hair. so whatever u use on the ends u would use on the grays. if ur concerned about them not turning then u can also leave it on them longer or even go ahead and get some dye on ur gloved hands and rub it on those grays before u put it on the rest of your hair. just try and keep that off your other hair.
honestly I've never heard of u needing a certain volume just for grays.

i dyed my hair red which turned out more like a magenta pink which was not the color i was going for, can i use the loreal hicolor in red on my dyed hair? i‘m confused because it says for dark hair only :/
Loreal HiColor contains peroxide and that is what causes it to lift the dark hair. While it isn't bleach it can still be damaging to your hair. If your hair is bleached (not dark) you don't want to use this for a lift (your hair is already light) and will cause unnecessary damage and stress to your hair. Try using a demi permanent dye that deposits color only and won't damage your hair.
weird to say, but this hair dye was my absolute favorite for my hair! I used this hair dye in the color magenta from my 8th grade year to junior year in high school and never had any damage and plus it smells good too lol. Btw, the color looks great on you 💘

Btw I just wanted to tell ya a tip instead of buying the expensive colored shampoo and conditioner, you can buy a cheap sulfate free shampoo and conditioner (I usually buy the Biosilk shampoo and conditioner the one that is for color treated hair) and I usually have half a tube of the Loreal HiColor Hilights Red left over after dying my hair and i put 1/4 of the tube in the shampoo and 1/4 of the tube in the conditioner after removing just a little bit so the color will fit and shake up the bottles real good and I use that every other washing to keep my color bright and refreshed! I have also have used this technique with other shampoos and conditioner that are sulfate free as well
i tried using the dye in my conditioner like that but it left my hair kinda jacked up and my scalp stained. so I got the semi permanent and it worked better for me. when i do my roots with the permanent i do the rest of my hair with semi permanent and that help keeps it looking great. so u could try that if her suggestion gives u issues. my skin is super sensitive and i think that's why i couldn't use the permanent dye so much.
i use the same dye. but I mix half red and half magenta when I do mine.

The thing about this product is that the bleach or whatever that is in it is only strong enough to lift virgin hair color. that means if you have never dyed your hair before it will work better. that's why her roots came out brighter.

It looks beautiful! Did your shower look like a murder scene as you were washing it out? Red is notorious for that.

I mixed red and magenta too, to me that's the best shade of red :) my hair was already pre lightened so I used ion semi permanent hair dye :)

Did the price on this dye change? I just did this and I got the huge bottle of developer, 2 boxes of dye, a brush and the dye bottle and it was like 15 with my Sally's card?

i just realized Thats pretty much the same thing i did. back in september i dyed my hair and i mixed the two, the only difference was i used loreal hi color in red, didnt use the hi color highlights. but did get magenta in the hi color hightlights and LOVED the color that came out.

always cut hair AFTER dyeing. since any dye is unhealthy for hair it helps repair some damage when you cut hair, do the damage first, cut and repair last.
I definitely wanna try those two colors mixed together next time I dye my hair. I went with a regular red not the hi color. I either do the dark intense red blonde ion color or the medium intense red blonde but this time I tried this shade called light burgandy blonde and I like it. All those look like a low key normal natural red but I do eventually wanna go a little redder like yours and try out a mix of magenta and red in hi color cuz I really like that shade.

Just a little tip I only paid 16 dollars for the developer and the two boxes of high color dye all and that was on amazon so I recommend going on amazon to buy it instead of Sally's Bc it's the same things but a lot less expensive
I use this all the time except i use magenta but i never thought about mixing red and magenta to get that perfect red. I feel like magenta is a bit too dark and red is a bit too orange toned for me but mixing them is such a smart idea. Also love your shirt!

I use the ISANA Rot Farbglanz Shampoo and it's also red on it's own with Henna. Have no silicones in it, so u can use it everytime!

Angelika it is not recommended.
I have been using the Red hair shampoo and it works very well. I have been using it every time I wash my hair, which is every other day. I do not use the conditioner tho. I was told you didn't really need it. So for conditioner I use the Loreal color conditioner that you can buy at Walmart. It does keep your hair red. I love it and will continue to buy it.

If you have a sally's near you, i recommend getting a hair dye tube key. It makes it easier to get the dye out.

So I decided to dye my hair red and do an ombré look using L’Oréal color hicolor hilights in magenta using 30 volume developer. I kept it on for 35-40 minutes and washed it off. It didn’t color my hair at all and only left a very very very slight tinge of red that can only be visible in the sunlight. What did I do wrong? Also is there is any other brand that I can use without bleaching my hair like this one? (I’m a brunette btw)

Whenever I try to go a colour:.. It always fades to red or green!
If I go blue it goes green
If I go purple or pink it goes red

Crazy colors will always fade to lighter shades. To slow the fading process down, you can wash your hair only 2-3 times a week and use cold water on your hair
I got the dark spots too on my hair and no matter how much I dye its still there what can I do to get rid of it? I recently just bought a box of bleach to try lighten the area.... but havent applied it yet

I hate going in Sallys! Because even though they know I'm a stylist they like to harass me. One girl tried to act like I wasn't doing something right. I told her to get out of my way and not to talk to me! Plus I don't like how they give solicit advice when people don't ask for it. They also have no right to give advice when they're not a hair stylist. Plenty of times I've had to save people from messing their hair up, when I hear the cashier trying to tell them what to do. One girl got mad at me and I told her that that advise she was given was wrong. She was trying to recommend a girl that had yellow hair that Wella Color Charm t18 that they seem to like to recommend for everybody. Good thing I was there I saw that girl's hair. You have to have a level 10 to use t18. Then the cashiers that work there act like they have a problem if you come there more than one day. I went two days in a row and they acted like, I was crazy because I was there. I told the girl this is why I only come here a few times in several months because I'm tired of hearing your crap! They should get fired for harassing people. Most of my color I get at CosmoProf anyway. It's just more convenient for me to go to Sally's sometimes. I went there today and the cashier that was starting to get on my nerves. When she was getting ready to check me out she said hold on I'll be back in a minute. She sent a guy to come up there to check me out. Probably cuz she was tempted to say something smart. She knew better because I let all those b****** know they not going to tell me what to do and ask me why I'm in the store. It's like every time I go in there I have to explain why I'm in there. Now I just roll my eyes, and say I'm a hairstylist get over it! I said if you don't like me being here then you shouldn't be working here! I hope you have better luck than I do!

What would happen If I use two "Red Hot's" and not any Magenta? Would the red be darker or lighter?

No it'll be bright but darker.. I mix 2 magenta and 1 red hot so it's not a harsh fire engine red color and don't fade orange! I've never had hair color last so long in my hair! I go 3 months until I dye it mostly bc I look crazy wit roots and people compliment it faded/grown out, even pro stylist bc the color is pretty not patchy orange.
