The run he had in 2018 was nothing short of amazing. People tend to forget in that WCF the Blazers actually were leading by 10-20 points in most of those games. Who knows what Dame's career would look like if they could just finish a game.. Love that you're bringing these back man. These are the same types of videos that inspired me to start posting. At the end of the day, ‘winning’ is an abstract concept. For some people (me included), that means winning the chip. Think it's important to mention that the Blazers didn't have Nurkic during the 2018 run either, so the hope was that his return would push them over the hump. In hindsight that was unrealistic since the west got a lot tougher that season, but I think the Blazers will have interesting pieces to work with to try and make a contender within the next 3-5 years. New coach for the first time in his career, and a new GM who has proven to be far more adept at making good moves. I think the Blazers are hoping Dame will be a player with a slow regression time, allowing him to still be solid once Ant and Sharpe are coming into their own.

Will always say it as a Portland fan, the 2019 playoffs may have been the worst thing to ever happen to franchise in recent history. I mean they were great to watch, Lillard going off in R1, Cj going off in R2, and thinking we actually had a shot at finals. However it kept the team content, "no roster moves are needed we made the WCF" and "no staff changes needed we made the WCF." I mean we are still feeling knock on affects to this day. The current roster construction has fans saying "we are on the same level as 2019" thats not a good level to be on, that is a good (not great) team that would not have been in the same situation 9 times out of 10. It would also be easier to deal with the playoff losses if Lillard had won an MVP or two. At least then it would give fans something to celebrate (that isn't a celebration of being above average). I love Lillard and the Blazers but without a miraculous stroke of luck, a blockbuster trade or a huge free agent signing (which has never happened in Portland) the Lillard era blazers will never win, and if they do it will quite literally be the greatest ring of all time.

That 2020-21 Blazers team was the best team they ever had with Dame outside of the Aldridge era. The reason they lost was because of Bad coaching but people don't want to have that convo,, I genuinely believe if they had better coaching they could've forsure made it to the Finals that year

They were still missing a number 1 option, dame is not a no 1 option, this narrative that the talent surrounding him is the problem or the coaching it just takes away accountability from dame. Dame is a great scorer, but unfortunately he is below avg. at best at everything else and that is not enough to lead a team to a chip.

Anyone else want to leave a comment starting with "At the end of the day" to defend Lillard's to a fault loyalty? Loyalty is all fine and dandy but when you go at guys for "running from the grind" when you'd rather stay in one spot and do the same thing over and over and over with no real expectations to do anything, that's not really a grind either. It's like running on a treadmill. Sure you're working hard, but you don't go anywhere

He hasn't won a title but he has earned my ultimate respect. In fact If anything his story is one of him being too damn good for his own benefit. If he wasn't quite so great and able to carry a team to the playoffs regards of the players around him he might have gotten some lottery picks along the way and gotten a tier of players above what he has been able to do drafting in the latter half of the 1st round. It's also a story of Portland not doing dame right & him still loving his city & his fans the way you hope a star will when you root for him for a decade. Dame may not be Steph Curry but that's okay no one else is either. There is only one. But Dame is my favorite player & I grew up a suns fan, living in AZ my whole life. So there is no reason for me to have a trail blazer as my favorite player other than who he is as a person & player & not the team he plays for or the success they have had.

I’ll never understand the Damian Lillard hate. We look at the Lakers, the Clippers, the Nets, and we see all the team up failures, (even if the Lakers do have a ring, LeBron is on pace to make the playoffs in only 2 of his first 5 Lakers seasons). But we demand that the old-school visionaries like Giannis and Dame betray cities who believed in them and helped make them into superstars. Look at what’s happened to Westbrook since he left OKC. Harden since leaving Houston. Even with older players, Dwight after leaving the Magic. Why should Lillard want this? Why shouldn’t he value the potential to be the Dirk Nowitzki of Portland. Fight against the new era to show that sometimes, the player empowerment era doesn’t improve basketball.
And I also hate the people who get mad at Lillard for talking about loyalty. His answer is firm and y’all keep asking him to see if it changes.

Steph is a superstar and as great as dame is , he’s not on that level and well never be on that level . sad to say because he’s one of my favorite players but he does come off as kind of annoying cuz he keeps talking about he didn’t run from the grind but like dom said in the vid , he never put pressure on the organization to get him help . that really shows me how much he REALLY wants to win .
