I think its more to do with the fact hes just at peace with who and what he currently is. He said in a current interview hes not in Memphis to babysit, but hes fully aware of what his purpose in Memphis is. Quite refreshing actually.
Nothing against you, it’s just making me realize how old I am and how not everyone is attracted to a sport from the time they can walk like I was. I’m 28 and have loved and followed basketball for 26 of those years once I saw Space Jam, it was over lol. Man, all the hoops you missed before 2012 😢😢😢
Derrick Roses' career is literally the saddest "what if" story ever. If he never got that initial ACL injury, he'd probably would have at least one championship by now.
Really dont know about that. I watched a couple of Videos couple years back where his awful landing technique was shown. He wouldve probably got injured either way
Hall of Fame player in my book. A story of tragedy and triumph. An example of excellence and perseverance. Someone every basketball player should learn from and strive to be like. I wish Drose continued success on and off the court.
i think hall of fame is more than being an objectively good basketball player, i mean its literally in the name.. hall of "fame", he is up there with allen iverson and kobe bryant in terms of the most cultural impact, he is one of the most beloved and looked up to athletes, he should definitely make it, without question
D rose still one of my personal favorite NBA players. Great attitude, always motivated no matter what he faced, and he ain’t gave up yet. Hall of famer with the probably the best “what if” story in the NBA
Ngl to u it would be wrong for drose to make the hof. He just doesn’t have the stats for it. His probability of making the nba hof was estimated at 10.52%. His only argument is that he won an mvp.
4 time all star rookie of the year and having a legendary high school and 1 college year. It’s the basketball hof not the NBA HOF players that have done less are in
@@Quentinthemudkip fair, but that was in much weaker eras. DRose has to go up against the majority of the greatest talent the nba has ever seen in the last 25 years. If he gets in it’s bc of narrative not accolades
Watching Rose at that time was crazy coming up , i was 11 during his MVP year , i watched damn near every game I wasnt even a Bulls fan , we all wanted to play like him at school and we all wanted the adizerose and ankle wraps , couldnt convince me at that time he wasnt a future HOF , sad as hell how it turned out , I remember watching most of these games live , the sunday afternoon game where he hit that circus layup on Bron and Wade and the Lakers game winner on xmas day 2011 , glad i saw him in real time
Loved watching him growing up, I got compared to him a lot as a kid. My family is from Chicago so I’m just thankful we got to see him perform at all versus him getting killed in the streets of Chicago.
@@CrazyxEnigma that’s the part I never understood. Why throw Derrick(who hasn’t played nba in over a year)in the middle of the playoffs? That’s rushing him back and it he would’ve got hurt, they would’ve said they rushed him
@@tmac731The only rationale I can think of is management thought if Rose played they could beat Miami. I'm assuming at the time Rose was considered an ironman and the injury was seen as a freak accident and not a sign of things to come still very irresponsible no matter how you cut it.
Yep,and he got hurt the next season 20 games in anyways so who knows how worse the injury could’ve been if he played earlier. Hated how Chuck berated him for it too.
Ngl, this video type had me emotional. Was never a bulls fan but I loved rose as a player and always rooted for him, especially when they played against lebron led teams. It hurt watching some things go the way they did but I’m just glad he still pushed through all of his adversity and stuck around. The NBA needs Rose as much as he needs them‼️
Derrick Rose should finish his career on the Spurs. They've helped many aging veterans join them to elongate their careers. Plus that young squad could use his basketball wisdom and mentorship.
My biggest inspiration to come back from my own injuries and to never give up! The Return promo and ads got me jumping and working out at 2am 🤣 That's why he's my 🐐
Man that Meniscus tear was the first time my hope wavered but the occipital fracture was the exact mark of basketball depression for me. Drose is and will be my favorite player in the league until well after he retires. Not a single other player has has been as fun to watch
😪 the pain I feel every time I watch him go down in the game 1 can even put it in to words I really hope he can come to the lakers I just want to see dude play damn man 😪
Thanks for making this Dom! Brought tears to my eyes as the 2010s Bulls were the teams I was rooting for and I was really devastated when they traded DRose. I'm just happy he's still playing at a great level
Rip Hamilton said it best. When he was healthy, NOBODY wanted no smoke with D Rose. One of the meanest players we've ever seen step on the court, and a true warrior and role model outside of it. Just the sheer strength he has shown throughout his career fighting grueling injuries and proving so many times he can still ball with the best of them, changing his style to be able to stay in the league for so long, it's crazy. The confidence was there since he came in the league and has never faded away. There's no one like D Rose.
That initial injury was so heart breaking. Rose was really something special at that time. I am glad that he stuck it out and made the best of what he had, never gave up. Still, truly one of the greatest “what if’s”.
Dom, this is an all time video. DRose has meant so much to so many fans and players, and I feel that media has forgotten that. Best video I’ve seen on RUclips in a very long time
I’ll never forget being a Drose fan back then. It was so sad seeing your idol as a kid be hurt so much and go through so much pain. Crazy enough Looking back it probably actually deterred me from wanting to play basketball as much. Growing up i loved playing basketball but Because of watching Drose and all his injuries as soon as i got a little ankle sprain or knee pain i instantly thought i would end up like him too. Now obviously i dont think i would have been good enough to go D-1 or anything but i stopped playing because of nagging injuries. All because i thought once u get hurt enough you’re cooked and i saw Drose go through it so i decided not to put my body through more pain. Crazy
So much respect for Rose. With everything he has gone through, to even still be in the league is amazing. But, he has even been able to reinvent his game and be more efficient
Rose will always be one of my favorite players. His injuries are unfortunate but he has always been talented and persistent. This is a great video dude thanks! 😭❤️
This is really great content, made me really emotional. I just started watching basketball when he won the MVP in 2011 and although its been so hard to watch him face so many struggles, its been so admirable to see him never give up.
The thing that sucks, is that prime D Rose I think was still yet to come. His game improved, as he tried to adjust with not having his athleticism anymore with stints in Minnesota and NY. We just never got to see it happen, alongside all that crazy athleticism he once possessed.
Wrong, those comment sections under a D-Rose topic, especially when he tore his meniscus were extremely wild. I was defending D-Rose like crazy on Bleacher Report in those days.
He would just be getting out of his prime. Maybe even have a championship or two with an Finals MVP. It’s sucks we didn’t get to see him in his prime. Imagine how crazy the NBA would be if Rose never got hurt, a matchup with Steph, the Bulls and Cavs rivalry, Derrick vs some many other guards would’ve been a treat! Also, it’s possible another superstar would’ve join him at the time. On the bright side, his story could help the next players that have a similar skill set to his, especially with learning to land properly, along with understanding your body better.
As a Bulls fan, I will never recover from D Rose. His ack injury wasn’t even the one that ruined him it was his meniscus. He definitely would’ve stopped Lebron from going to 8 straight finals(2014 and or 2015) and he would’ve been the 2nd GOAT PG behind magic
By far the most painful story in sports ever. I’m a bulls fan and Drose will always be my favorite player ever and I’ll never let anyone disrespect how great he was as a player.
Chicago kids of the 90s had MJ to look up to. We had D Rose. Dude meant so much to this city. I really hope he retires a Bull and they retire his number.
I really appreciate this video. As a newer hoop fan I knew the story of Drose, but never got to live through it. Doms voice as a writer is so great for this, I got emotional revisiting the Timebrwolves 50 pts now that I have full context
