This soundtrack is simply *Outstanding*. Remember me when I was 14 yo.
I certainly do. Quite the memory.
Moreover when you consider the capabilities of the Roland MT-32 in 1987. It was mainly based on LA synthesis, with very short sound samples to add some basic realism to instruments. And, yet, the guitar emulations you can hear @10:24 are truly awesome. These aren't stock sounds from the module, and yet, they sound superior to what you could hear on FM synthesis or even basic samplers back then. Incredible work from Barry Leitch.
@@Arachnosoft Almost 80% what you can hear here was done by virtual analogue part of LA synth engine (saw/ pulse +resonant filter and ring modulation). Yes MT-32 had inside professional and very advance synth LA32 chip (legendary Roland D-50/D550 have exactly same). Apart to it Sound Canvas was very simple ROMpler with zero synth capabilities, more less on same level as average wavetable sound card, but with better samples in ROM. :-)
The game cd played in the cd player. Bonus!
It is criminal act to don´t write composer name in infobox. Barry Leitch FTW !!!!
The uploader has since added his name, so due credit has now been given. 👍
4:51 Track 2
8:31 Track 3
14:05 Track 4
29:34 - Castlevania-like track
It's mindblowing this is just plain MIDI/SYSEX ... if one would have played this soundtrack to me without telling me I'd assume some kind of tracker format.
It was written in a tracker, we had a custom one at Ocean that supported PC (MT32 / Sound canvas / Soundblaster) & Snes, Genesis was planned but never finished.
@@BarryLeitch Wow the man himself! These songs still slap to this day. Any thoughts on a re-release?
@@BarryLeitch I love this OST so much. I have always listened to the CD version because that's what I owned and I love that one. Did not even know the original was different. I recall you don't enjoy that one too much, it was done by a third party?
Well, I've grown to love this version too now :) Also, love the little nod to this OST in Horizon Chase!
Wooooow! Sounds awesome!! This is the newest version of the mt 32, you can hear it.
I use to have this game. It was all CD audio tracks too so you could play it on a regular CD player and then some bozo borrowed it and never returned it. Jerk!
Jeremy Chambers Thank god we have RUclips :)))
Muy buen trabajo, gracias por subir esta reliquia. (y)
Why did DID end?! They ended such an age of digital air warfare!
Love the Libya Theatre theme
Great game and soundtrack.
Oh holly fuck... this was my childhood. I used to bang my head wild to playing the game. Lol.
2:45 *grows mullet and becomes pilot*
59:41 game over

Sorry about that, I don't spend most of my time here on RUclips. When I am however, I just watch other peoples videos normally. I upload mine not just so other people can watch them, but for me put in videos that I would like to watch that hasn't been put on RUclips yet.
ACMDogfight1997 Thanks for adding that. I am trying to collect the information which tracks are available on the original soundtrack CD, but so far I could not find the place with such info. I have some tracks, but few are also missing and they also sound different than the content here.
You mention that some of the tracks are missing. Do you have an information which ones are missing and what are their titles?
zaxonxp45 No, but I might be missing some. I got these tracks for an add-on of a modified version of another DID game (community.combatsim.com/topic/20202-f-22-total-air-war-222a-released/) so there is a probable chance of missing some. There is another music track add-on for Soundblaster 16 (scroll down on the page of the link) tracks which might have the missing ones. I might upload a video for them one day or sometime soon, I don't know.
Thanks for sharing the link to the sources.
The CD itself (the game CD) doesn´t have all the music of the game...
Does anyone know what happened when you completed the game? I always crashed or got shot down after hours of play. Some jazz about the UN maybe?
Now you can play it from your browser: classicreload.com/tfx.html

Use a new MT-32 or SoftMPU with the /DELAYSYSEX parameter.
