Love the video and editing style. Really like how you do the narration and mix in humour. The part where presumably your daughter recreates the last downhill part, and you being Randy, was epic. Super creative and congrats on an awesome race.
Thanks! I started bringing my camera to races about a year and a half ago, you can see the slow improvement with each video, still learning and having fun doing it! Glad you enjoyed them
You make the best ultra race videos! Always thoroughly entertaining and well put together. Well done for pushing through the pain to get your reward. Can't wait to see the next race video 👍🏻🏃♂️🙂
Always makes my day to see a new video from you pop up! Good job on the race and for getting your WS bib. In the past I suffered from shin splints. I used an old 1 gallon ice cream pail with some sand in it for conditioning. Whenever I was setting at my desk or at home I put the handle over my foot, behind my toes and just did toe lifts... lots and lots of toe lifts. Between that and limiting the amount of road running I did I put them behind me. Best of luck on your training. Don't be a stranger.
Thanks Mike. I have indeed started some strength exercises on shins, the injury was due to my left shin being too weak which is a little odd as this has never come up before. The pail sounds like a good one, you can adjust the weight as needed, I'll give it a go.
happy to be your 999th subscriber. This is how ultra vids should be made. Very much enjoyed this first viewing of A Few Mo Minutes production. Looking forward to catching up on your others.
Thanks Matt, glad you enjoyed it! Still learning as I make these so you'll notice the production value getting better (or worse!) compared to some of the first few videos, but I'm having fun! I'll put out another one soon, been a slow year for running with some injuries. Thanks!
What a fun video and a great look at the Bighorn! Mike (my husband) just finished #203 at Mace's Hideout 100 in Colorado. We are heading back to Bighorn this year.
Hey Sandra! That's insane, I just bought your book btw, but you may need to add some chapters as the adventure continues. Loving it so far, great tips and insights. I just added a link to your book in the description
Ha, thanks! That's why there's so much footage on the way out but barely any on the way back, I wasn't in the mood... Plus there were times I completely forgot I had a camera, wasn't my top priority at the time!
Your videos are awesome and really bring to light what this sport (for us everyday ultra marathoners - if I can say that) is all about. So many of these videos are filled with emotion and larger than life etc. etc. and I'm not saying it's not that but sometimes I feel like saying "Bring it down a notch" which you do perfectly in your videos. This stuff is supposed to be fun and we chose to put in that training and enter these big races so if we can't have some fun with it all what is the point. Keep the videos coming bud!! The "not actual footage" made me laugh:)
Hahaha! I love the way you edit/tell the story. You had such a big bowl of popcorn!!! LOL! Surprisingly, watching your video makes me even more excited to run my first 100 (next year?). I watched every minute of this video and loved it!
Great video and gritty performance. Glad to see it paid off with qualifier or I'm guessing it would've not been worth it. Thx for showing that aspect as I think many people ignore the after impacts!
So fun, thank you. I mean, sorry you were hurt in the end (what was it anyway? Never mind, it’s probably here in the comments) but thanks so much for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it! An extreme case of compartment syndrome, basically a really bad shin splint which took a couple months to heal. All good now, looking forward to next year!
Amazing job man!! Loved the video!!! I did have a question, I'm also from the gta with some mountain ultras coming up, where do you train for trails and hills? I've been doing kelso / hamilton stairs but I feel like my options are limited
Same, I usually head out to the Bruce trail in Burlington/Hamilton. I'm near credit river so I have some local trails but lots of repeats on the hills. If you head north, some great trails at Hockley Valley. None of these will compete with mountains, but repeats and hilly trails will get the job done. Glad you liked the video!
Glad you enjoyed it! I don't make videos frequent enough, been injured this year so no races, would have been some epic videos with Western States but I had to withdraw. I'll get more videos out next year, thanks!
As someone who's never run more than 3 miles in life, this is mind-boggling to me, pardon my ignorance. What is it like running in the night in the race, completely alone? Isn't it scary? What goes on in your mind?
Ha, it used to boggle my mind too. Depending on the race, other people are always a few minutes away. The race leader got chased by a moose at this race once (in daylight), everyone else has people in front of them clearing the way. I got surprised about 1:30am with a moose coming from the side crossing the trail, I didn't see it until it stepped right in front of me. That's rare through, no point in worrying about it!
I finished Tahoe 200 last year walking backwards down the ski slope... and across the finish line....backwards. You can check the finish line photos...
Hey man, great story and great effort! I am curious about your shin, and swelling because I have experienced exactly the same a week and a half ago, when I did my first 100 mile race! Had shin pains which were especially bad on downhills, and after the race I had significant swelling which is almost gone now, and it's been like 10 days. What type of injury would you describe this as? I was nervous for a stress fracture and got x-rayed but there was none. And how was your recovery from it? I still have pains from certain movements, but it is coming down day by day it seems, but the progress seems to be slowing.
Sounds the same, I got xrays and ultrasound as I was worried about a stress fracture as well, which came back negative. Swelling was really bad at first, looked like I'd been hit with a baseball bat on the lower shin. Basically really bad shin splint, or compartment syndrome where the muscle swells up bigger than the sheath it's in. Took almost a month for the shin and ankle swelling to go down, but at least 2 months until things were pretty much back to normal. Not fun, but give it time. I've been doing exercises for my shin to make sure it doesn't happen again. Congrats on your 1st 100!
Awesome video! You have a terrific sense of humor, very entertaining. Good luck at WS! We finished within 3 minutes of each other back in 2013. I hope the temperature is better for you this year! My wife and I are heading to the Haliburton Trail Race in September. It would be great to meet you. Are you registered this year?
Ah 2013, it was the 2nd hottest year on record, congrats on the finish! I unfortunately had to withdraw from WS this year, so it's back to the lottery. Not registered for Hali this year, my plans are up in the air for now. Have fun, it's a great race!
It didn't! Unfortunately I had to withdraw as a medical precaution which turned out to be nothing! Horrible timing, but I pulled out prior to the race so I keep my lottery status going forward.
Good stuff, it's a great race. Elevation didn't effect me as far as I could tell. It's hard to tell how much fatigue is from the distance and hills or from the altitude. As a comparison, I DNFd Leadville with altitude sickness many years ago, but no issues at Bighorn. Have fun!
Do you carry a pistol with you? One time a buddy and I were tracking a carabao, and oh boy it turned on us fast. Scared the shit out of us, as we slowly backed away, and got out of there. Now I always bring a fire arm in the woods.
Nope, but one of the aid station volunteers had one. Not that he would be there in the middle of nowhere when I need it. The race leader got chased one year and hid behind a tree to keep the moose away.
Love the video and editing style. Really like how you do the narration and mix in humour. The part where presumably your daughter recreates the last downhill part, and you being Randy, was epic. Super creative and congrats on an awesome race.
Thanks! My daughter loved it, but she had to keep her mouth shut and not tell mommy until she watched the video, mission accomplished!
Appreciate the beta on Big Horn 100 & seeing how you get it done. Bravo!
Thanks! Hopefully it's useful for others doing the race, although it was a very dry course compared to 2023.
The photo on the wall of you eating popcorn 😂. Great video, always entertaining.
Thanks Jeff! The picture is still on the wall…
I found your channel this week. And i already saw all of you videos. Just amazing! Best trail running youtuber out there. Congrats man..keep it coming

Ha, I always pop in a few little things that not everyone will notice, good eye!
that was awesome mate - very entertaining, whilst showing how tough it was. Kudos!
Thanks!
Watching from Australia. Thanks for the sense of humour and perspective. Gorgeous location.
Thanks! Scenery was breathtaking, I loved it there. There's a few races in Australia I'd like to do but it's a little out of the way for me!
Keep racing and making these videos. They are amazing. Best ultra videos in RUclips.
Thanks, glad you enjoy them! I have fun making these, I'll keep them coming
That was so entertaining ! Defo some of the best ultra videos out there! Go go 🇨🇦!!!!
Thank you! Glad you liked it
Your storytelling is excellent. Plus, this race is one of my dream races. You’ve earned an eager follower. Thanks for letting us in on your journey.
Thanks! I loved this race, might go back eventually, but I have a few others to take care of first. I highly recommend it!
Not sure how i missed this video. Beautiful course. Thanks for filming the race. I think i need to add this one to my list.
Most scenic race I've ever done, loved it!
Good luck at States🎉
This looks like a great event.
It was indeed! I was lucky to attend during one of the drier years, it's normally all mud. Great course and event for sure.
Well done sir, thank you for sharing !!!
Thank you!
This was so awesome, thank you so much. Really funny in parts but inspiring more than anything else 🏆🏆🏆
Thank you! Who says inspiration can't be funny? Glad you enjoyed it!

I just found your channel. Great videos and nice editing!
Greetings from a fellow ultra runner from Finland!

Well done, both race and video. Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the watch.

Thanks! I actually broke the door on the popcorn machine making this, my wife was not happy
Such a fun and entertaining video! Thanks for doing what you're doing!
Thanks Clint!
I ran that race with you! Saw myself 3 times in your video. I was the guy in the red Team Beef jersey. So much pain and fun!
Ha! I'm sure it brought back memories! Loved that race...
@@afewmominutes it really did!
Great video! Thank you for documenting your adventure. Congratulations on your finish! 🎉

It’s hard enough to do the 100 let alone document the journey

@@afewmominutes UTE 100... Kinda scared 😳 hehe
Awesome vid as always. You rock dude!
Best of luck for WS. I'm looking forward to seeing the video of that one as you totally crush it.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Unfortunately I had to withdraw from Western this year which really sucks, it will be back to the lottery for next near!
Congratulations Morgan! Fantastic recap and top notch editing!🎉🎉💐💐
Thanks Agnes!
The popcorn picture on the wall, with you on the couch with popcorn LOL
It’s still on the wall, I think I’ll just leave it there!
Wow Mo , awesome video! Thanks for putting it together I watched it doing my daily run at work today.
Hey Ron! Glad you enjoyed it... I'm sure I'll see at some races later this year
Have always enjoyed your uploads Morgan. Another great one. Keep up the great work 💪🏻

Awesome content ❤keep it up and fingers crossed for the next Adventure!🎉

Awesome video! Now I have to go and watch the rest of your videos.
Thanks! You'll notice a difference with the early videos, I'm still learning what I'm doing! Having fun though
@@afewmominutes Doing good from where I am sitting. I've got up to a 50 miler myself. My hope is to qualify for WS some day.
Dude you are hella funny! Best 100 mile vid. Time to run the San Diego 100
Thanks! San Diego sounds too hot without snow to put in my hat
We need Mo videos like this!

So are you running WS this June? Great video!
