- In a fairly stunning admission, the Israeli military's chief spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, told an Israeli television station Wednesday that, "whoever thinks we can eliminate Hamas is wrong." The IDF later issued a statement saying Hagari's comments were referring to the destruction of Hamas as an ideology. CBS News foreign correspondent Chris Livesay has more.

Might as well call them terrorists at this point.
The plan seems to be that there is no plan, right from the beginning. Much like Afghanistan and Iraq... What is the end-game goal? What does it look like when success is achieved? The only priority seemed to be military objectives which is not enough to solve the original problem.

Of course CBS would leave out the entire context of the conversation. He didn't say Israel could not destroy the military element of Hamas. He said that Hamas itself is a party, and an idea, in the hearts of the people. Israel very clearly can destroy Hamas on the battlefield. They have done that in every city in Gaza.
What Hagari was saying is that SOMEONE NOT HAMAS must be selected to lead in Gaza. If Netanyahu and the Israeli political establishment do not find another leadership in Gaza, then Hamas will come back. Really, wish mainstream media would bring more than a 1 sentence blurb to the conversation.

Israeli Arabs seem to have a higher fertility rate than Israeli Europeans, so there is also a possibility in the future that Palestine can be fully recovered that way, but the Europeans still have a replacement fertility rate so that might still mean both sides will have to get along and maybe even mix one day if a two state solution doesn't work.
