Netanyahu didn't want any advice from the U.S. about a ceasefire, so if Israel becomes embroiled in a war with Hamas or Hezbollah, they can solve that on their own, too.
The u.s. government isn't interested in a ceasefire, it wants things to escalate and is carefully orchestrating things to the best of it's ability to work out that way.
