More difficult than the question of how to prepare for strategic separation from China because they might invade, is how far should we go in separating from them if they do invade.

Loans of the 1960s were given out by the IMF according to spurious economic models that caused this debt problem in the first place. Lots of entrapment. The IMF has a lot to answer for, along with former colonial powers who benefit from unfavorable terms of trade for raw resources.

Diversification of supply chains is key. As we say "you don't put all you eggs in one basket". By widely diversifying your supply sources you protect yourself from complete collapse of supply chains if one or more sources goes down for any unforseen reason. You can even out the cost by averaging the cost of cheap and expensive sources which is better than just relying on one cheap sources and risking that one cheap source being completely cut off for some reason.

When national income accounting was first proposed in England there was a lot of opposition because of a fear that once we had accurate statistics (a new word then, root word "State") to accurately gage commerce, the illusion would be created that we can control the economy, and that over time that world view would create great harm. We are 50 years late in replacing nuclear power plants and vehicles that use fossil fuels. The Edison generator and dynamos power plants and vehicles have not been built and it has been more than 50 years of waiting for industrial media complex to join Treaties instituted by scientists and ratified by Congress and USSR and 180 countries. The military industrial complex is dragging it's feet and we are strangling in plastic manufacture pollution.
