If you have killed, do you need to mentally ask yourself something that the real answer is no, for example: "I can fly?" Then you answer no, thinking about YOUR question. It will be true. • @tannerjablowski3192
      @tannerjablowski3192 3 года назад +42

      @Mitch Ddhfacetyy the joke wasn’t an accident from the writers, but giving the joke to Britta was a Freudian slip. They let the “indignant woman shrieking about her ‘rights’” part of it obstruct their ability to recognize how dehumanizing the comment is.
      Ever see the clip where Sharon Osbourne’s daughter tries to burn Donald Trump by sarcastically asking “If you ban all the Mexicans then who’s going to clean your toilet for you?” The audience immediately groans in embarrassment for her because she just threw Mexicans under the bus to burn [rich guy].
      Britta is doing the same thing here. She isn’t joking about *pandering to* Mexicans. She is joking about stuffing them up her snatch as if they’re an inanimate object. She compares them to oil, a commodity that we burn to make our lives easier. She does this to insult [rich guy] as well (in this case the US government)
      Try hearing the joke in Pierce’s voice and you can hear more clearly how belittling the comment is. It almost goes unnoticed when coming from Britta though because she’s a bleeding heart progressive.
      That’s why it’s funny that “she” doesn’t realize how insulting her comment is. This joke made it through the writers room and filming and editing without anyone saying “uhhh.. isn’t this kinda racist?” and it’s because progressives are just racists with guilty consciences who will throw their token pets under the bus the instant it can help them gain some ground on the [rich guy] who they’re not trying to *correct* but rather trying to *overtake*

    • @tannerjablowski3192
      @tannerjablowski3192 3 года назад +4

      @Mitch Ddhfacetyy I understand it a lot better than you do. Again, to make it simple for you, just pretend Pierce said the same joke and suddenly you won’t think you’re hearing a bold statement of defense for the value of Mexican people. You’ll hear the recognition that they’re just a commodity and not *just* to some third party that the joke is aimed at but to the person telling the joke as well

    • @tannerjablowski3192
      @tannerjablowski3192 3 года назад +1

    The most unrealistic thing about this (and really, most of the show) is everyone knows how divisive and untrustworthy Pierce is, and yet somehow reveal so much secret stuff to him. Why would he ever have needed to know, for example, about an account Annie had to skim her housemates' rent? That's the kind of stuff that should be incredibly easy to hide or lie about even if caught. My closest friends don't know half of what I get up to and I'm sure that's the same for most people. The same pattern repeats for all the main characters, really. I guess it's important in order to allow for such a show (and it is still an awesome show and my favourite) to progress, but to me that's the weakest point of the writing.

    • @pessimisticplantain8636
      @pessimisticplantain8636 2 года назад +3

      Pierce is manipulative and Annie is very trusting. He's also stated multiple times that she's his favourite and she's always the first to defend him to the group.
      I can see scenarios where she'd confide in him.
