TylersReelFishing next time your in bama i can show you some good river fishing if you want
Tyler :”Go pro stop recording”
GoPro: “no I don’t think I will”
I take one rod on moving water.... already have enough equipment at the bottom
I dont know why nobody puts any string or fastening system to keep the poles atleast near the boat. 3:40
I was carrying 2 rods last season and plan on carry 3 this season. The key is keeping your rods laid down. The kayak he’s using has a place to stage your rods built into the kayak. The U shaped notches cut into the junk drawer below the seat are for the butts of the rods and the grooves in the front hatch are there for the tips of the rods to rest in.
I also find a power pole isn’t always the best solution. A traditional folding anchor off the bow of the kayak keeps me in perfect position for the moving creeks and river I fish.
@@happytrails5342 I avoid anything that could cause a tangle. I opt for floats.
"GoPro stop recording"
"Nope getting some good shit here, Tyler...gonna keep it rolling."
I think this is better titled "RUclips vs Reality". Nice to see that everything isn't always perfect in life.
That’s the truth
Im proud of you for posting this. So we can all learn from your experience. Now you know what is esential and what isnt. You only need one rod and one reel. Dont fall into the hype. A true fishermen only needs one. And lures are cheep. Gear is expensive. Just cut the line. Safety is more important.
Exactly why I posted this! For y’all To get a little laugh, and to learn
My anxiety level is on 100 after watching this video!!! I have begged my husband for a kayak for 2 years, I’m having second thought!! Lol!!!!
Haha it’s super fun, but I shared this so people could learn!
That’s why I always keep a 7 inch folding saw in my kit.
Ahh smart!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has those kinds of problems while fishing!!!!
We all have em that’s for sure
Glad? In other words, the more people kayak fishing have exactly the same problems, the better. Right? 🙂
Man, days like that ... I feel for ya! Much respect for posting the "blooper reel", because we have all had them! ;)
😂😂 I like how kept commentating when you were in trouble 😂
Haha I gotta keep yall updated how I’m feeling!😂
Lmao I would’ve left my kayak their and walked to my truck 😂😂😂
That’s why you have to get a Old Town AutoPilot. Spend more time fishing than struggling but I feel bad that was not your day Tyler
So kayak fishing can be tricky some day especially on a river. we have all had those days in are kayaks for sure but a few pieces of advice for you that might help in the future. first make or buy a rope lanyard that you can use to attach you to your kayak when getting out of it and walking even though you have that power pole things can happen and it could get dislodged and then there goes your kayak down river it is always good to keep it hooked to you. Second once you get hooked into a fish drop your power pole so you are locked into place and not getting pooled around or into or under trees and things this will help with possibly really bad situations and keeping from snapping any rods on trees as well. third if you get snagged again drop your power pole or anchor so that you stop floating try and get it un snagged and if you can't then paddle over to the spot keeping your kayak above where you are snagged and once you get there drop your power pole or anchor again so you can hold yourself in place while you get yourself unsnagged. I have learned these leasons the hard way as you are learning but it all helps and makes things a lot easier and smoother in the end. also if I am going to fish spots where the current is faster I always anchor up first then fish that spot and then when I am done float passed to the next spot because getting snagged up in fast water on a river while moving can go south fast and getting turned sideways up against a tree like you where can have a really bad outcome you where very lucky! As far as the comment that you need a different kayak for river's that is so not true because that bonafide is a great river kayak. I have a seaghost 130 that I use for river fishing and I have an anchor wizard for my anchor and I use my anchor wizard a lot to control my kayak. with more time on the water in the kayak you will figure out those little tricks that make floating the river way more fun enjoyable and safe! so keep on fishing my friend hope to see you out on the water!
Well shoot thanks for all tips!
@@TylersReelFishing hope it helps believe me I learned a few hard lessons even flipped one of my kayaks which was not fun at all so anything I can do to help my friend! love the videos keep up the good work.
This actually gives me hope. I'm not the only one.
You definitely are not
I just started kayak fishing for the first time and losing my gear was my number one fear, so what I did was tie a leash to all of it. My rods, my nets, my paddle, my waterproof box, my gun. I also put a float on my rods, which was put up to the test yesterday when I dropped my favorite rod in the water twice. Both times it floated on top of the water and I was able to get it.
Also I will never use a kayak on a river, the water is too fast. I'll wait until I can buy a bass boat for that. I use my kayak for small lakes, ponds, and streams.
Tyler: “GoPro stop recording”
GoPro: “no matter what happens, keep that MF rolling”😂
Hahaha
I was in tears laughing at this, because i've done this all myself.
I don’t know where begin. If you want some advice I will gladly respond in detail. Here in the PNW I fish in extremely harsher/ dangerous conditions and have never had a day this bad. That includes in bigger stronger rivers, Bay’s and, off shore in the big salt. I do commend you for posting this for others to see exactly what not to do.
River kayak anglers lay their rods flat on the deck. Their gopros are usually low on the front. With that set up you don't get hung up in overhanging trees with current pushing you downstream. Your setup is better for lakes and ponds. You might want to make some changes for rivers. Entertaining video! Also, don't take off your life jacket to retrieve your rod! Be safe and tight lines!
Thanks for the tips!
I just got a kayak and am taking it out Monday. I will be bringing 1 setup only after watching this .
Smart
This is why we don't chuck out unguarded baits into fallen trees lol I feel for you bro!
use a 20# dumbell as anchor. Its cheap and very strong. Attach everything valuable on leashes. If it falls, its hanging.
Tip: If you're new to kayaking don't start practicing until the water gets warm.
The most annoying thing about kayak fishing is when it all gets hecktic and your rods get tangled in trees and your snagged. Been there plenty of times bro it stinks
I like to pack light on rivers like this. I couldn’t imagine all the camera gear too. Much respect !
strainer. This is rough and so true for a kayak fisher
“Oh, come on” is my mantra while kayaking rivers with any current. It’s a learning curve and you are definitely on it! My local river is the Passaic up in NJ. You end up in the water and you need to get a tetanus shot on the way home!
You are using the wrong tool. That’s a heavy large kayak made for lakes and lazy rivers. You need a river kayak for those rivers. Coosa, Coosa HD, Nucanoe Flint. Also lay your rods flat..
👍🏼
Reminds me of my first time ever on a kayak and bringing so much gear . Lost my 2 rods to a tree and lost my paddle because I didn’t tether it . Almost gave up kayak fishing . But didn’t
Tyler kayak fishing on a river is the hardest thing ever. I invested in a trolling motor and a yakattack blackpak which keeps my rods down and clear from trees. its very tricky. Really sorry this happened to you its a horrible day of fishing when this happens
Definitely learned a ton from all of these fails! You will see a much more collected Tyler in future kayak videos haha
Few rules to learn here.
1. Lose lure > lose pole. Cut your line in dangerous situations.
2. Only bring one pole on the river, cheapest one you got
3. Keep your setup low profile, storing your rods vertically is a bad idea if there are trees overhanging a river
Oh and I'd you have a power pole use it when you get snagged
Don’t disagree!
@@TylersReelFishing gotta live to learn! I've made the same mistakes too!
If you, at some point, in the Kayak Fishing Life, have ever gone through this then you know exactly all of these feelings! Lol. The only best part about going through all of these "mishaps" is knowledge on how and what to avoid for next time! Lol.
Yep haha
The struggle is real. lol
I know right
Power pole left you, rod and reel went flying, you fell in, but heck, you got a great upper body workout that day! Very entertaining to see what real life is like for you. Poor MO! He was entertained. LOL Maybe a trolling motor would help you on that kayak.
It was a workout that’s for sure haha
Was this filmed yesterday? It was Friday the 13th, it would explain all the bad luck.
Haha no
Perhaps the funniest you tube video I’ve ever seen! 😂🤣😂…I’m new to kayak fishing and I see what’s ahead for me, lolololol
Haha it’s not always like this
Remind me to never buy a yak...if you thought you wanted a kayak watch this video, lol, can't believe u didn't lose your cool I would've lost it lol
I edited out a few times when I lost my cool haha
You should buy a yak and enjoy it, one bad experience due to lack of knowledge shouldn’t doom kayaks for life. That’s the only negative thing about this video.
I'm sure it's a blast,I would just stick to lakes if I bought 1,my back and neck couldn't handle the river fishing
I fish 5-7 times a week. Usually I will have at least one day where everything goes wrong about every 10 trips. Lol. It’s fishing. We all go through it.
All that gear and fancy kayak boat! Hilarious!!
Tyler, the bro I'm stuck sidewise and and don't know what to do is literally the most 'why we need Jesus life lesson' and to be honest, I have not laughed this hard in a while. I am about to buy a kayak and this SLAYED me.
Thanks for the laughs👍
Struggle bus.....The struggle is real!
So real!
On river fishing I lay my rods down with a tip protector. Two rods, light and MH. Drop anchor when need to. You looked so awkward on that trip my friend.
I was so awkward
lol love watching these. I know the pains of inexperience and its always funny to look back.
I would be scared to even try lol. Keep up the work
Thanks for watching brad!
Bro you just had to pull yourself sideways towards the frog with the pole when it was stuck 😂
Ha! What a great video on what NOT to do in a Kayak. I have not laughed this hard in awhile! Thank you!😎
OMG I'm glad I saw this. I had several fails today including getting line wrapped around my prop for the pedal drive and having to pull up on somebody's boat house and spend 15 minutes untangling everything...this video makes me feel a bit better.
Gig Em
Where do you fish? I could use some new gear 😂
Pretty sure I’d spend more time in the water fishing out gear I’ve dropped in than fishing. Mad props to the kayak fishers out there! I’ll keep my Nitro though!
Haha same, my Skeeter is nice and safe
I don’t know if I should be laughing … great video… I’ll watch more of your stuff
Haha awesome!
Bro love the video I just got a kayak!!
Nice man!
This video has changed my mind on buying a kayak lol
This was really fun to watch...LOL...the struggle is real sometimes... seems like maybe you have plenty of experience at it...HAHAHAHA
Haha, we’ve all been there on the yak...well, maybe not all in one trip! Current is one of the hardest variable to deal with in a yak, much like the wind and especially when you get snagged since we will have as many as 8 rods out of the back of outlet blackpak and isn’t worth loosing all those for a bait.
No doubt, it’s tricky. Just a new challenge!
Thanks. I think you also didn't have leash on your paddle which in that case you could loose it in that current.
I have also started kayak fishing. Had the sames issues. Lost few lures and a reel as it fell in the salty water. Few things I learnt: main one: do not use long road in kayak. I used to use a 8 feet rod which I couldn't manage it specially when i needed to change the lure, or untangle the line. Now I use a 6 feet road. much easier to manage. Always have your knife handy to cut the line when the lure is snagged. then you can return back and retrieve the lure.
Cheers
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Looks like what I would look like in a kayak. Lol.
All a learning process haha
@@TylersReelFishing My son, who got me to watching your videos, has a fishing kayak. He used to do kayak fishing tournaments. He now does the BASS master high school tournaments. I went with him a available few times in a borrowed kayak, enjoyed it I. The lay creek and pond, not so much on the lake we did. Recreational boaters don't have as much respect for small craft.
I have a bayliner. Come out and we can sturgeon and striper fish.
You completely just changed my mind about getting a kayak.
Could’ve simply let out line instead of pulling yourself closer and closer into a branch🤦♂️ but it happens, that’s why I keep my rods layed flat on my old town kayak
Edit: after watching 3 more minutes of the video, I have come to the conclusion that kayak fishing may not be your best option😂
Kayak rookie mistakes. When fishing around trees, your poles should be lying on the floor in the rod staging area of the Bonafide.
👍🏼
And this is exactly why I got rid of my kayak after using it like two times😂
Just gotta learn from those experiences haha
usually it is about rigging a kayak but your activities are more about unrigging a yak.
I actually loled at this
Good haha
Ladies and gentlemen, this is what not to do when fishing, whether from a kayak or dry land.
Exactly why I made this video
Final thought .... when are you going to start putting your rods down for floating/fishing a river with overhanging trees...LOL
Probably not haha
The sound of branches bending and wrenching hundreds of dollars worth of poles is awful.
LOL Dang man I have those days and they stink. It's fun to watch when it ain't me though. lol sorry man.
Thought I’d give y’all a laugh lol
You like watching people suffer smh
I might suggest figuring out a lay down rod storage system!!!
Cut the 8$ frog off lol
so, a kayak with horizontal road storage would solve about 90% of your problems#1. #2 considering how much you complain maybe you should keep your tail between your legs and stick to your bass boat🫢 #3 my personal favorite😂 If you know it doesn't float a quarter inch Security line on the end of your power pole does absolute wonders. Or go with a yak attack pole that actually floats and get away from the power pole altogether.
Hey, I’m learnin. Can’t learn it all the easy way lol
So ya go back, watch the video clips, and figure out what you can do to fix, change or remedy all that went wrong. How thick is the power pole? LOWE's sells an 8' tomato stake pole for 5$, might work...
It’s an inch I think
@@TylersReelFishing Hey RUclipsr's, anyone know if 3/" x 8' plastic coated plant stake will work on the power pole unit? (you can't B 1st person to lose one) Good luck. 😎
This is why I tie a rope to all of my stuff
No it’s not that the water doesn’t hurt a fishing real it’s you can’t brake a Lew’s that’s why I love them
Amen
Nice video
Man this video really helps me understand what to avoid. Thank you!
Before starting my YakAngling tube channel I have ran in to the same struggles. Glad I'm not alone. Funny but great video!
I have never seen someone with that many issues on a kayak
Well there’s a first for everything
Oh man, I'm thinking of getting a fishing kayak. Maybe I'll stay away from rivers.
No! Just learn from my mistakes
This was great! 🤣🤣🤣 one thing I would suggest would to be a little more aware of your surroundings!
I’m learning lol
Power pole down when fish is on! Fun video
I'm pretty sure this is the first video of yours that I've watched, but this is too real. Try fly fishing from a kayak... it's loads of fun! lol
Oh I have haha
Hi Tyler I love your vids
Thank you so much for sharing!!!! Everyone makes it looks so enjoyable, I was starting to wonder if I was the only one getting frustrated on the water.
No doubt, I’m glad you enjoyed!
Dude you had yourself ; In some tight spots; I would of rolled and lost everything, good vid, was hopeing to make 1 more trip this year to OT county but we will see??????????
I was definitely lucky to get out of some of those situations
Never seeing someone struggling so much on knee deep water.
Thank you!
Nice place
Love the vids
Thanks!
I also love this
Up next watch tyler loose his class ring, how u ask, well he finds a way!
It’s never even come close to falling off
This is what fishing actually looks like for those who have never done it
Hahaha, some days are like that. "Mama told me there'd be days like this".
Glad that you made it through it. :)
All good haha
this whole video just gave me anxiety
Good
That should be a comedy tv show I’ve canoed and kayaked fished my whole life and never had trouble like that you need to simplify all the crap you have in the kayak travel as light as possible fishing is supposed to be relaxing at least you have the guts to put it on utube
I ain’t afraid to laugh at myself
After watching this i know i need to buy a hobie with 360 drive...
Maby take 1 pole to minimize all your losses
feel for ya Tyler, everything was going wrong for you that day
I know man
Hilarious! Got to learn from this one :)))
But you can laugh about it now
I guess haha
You going to the Aggie game today? If so I’ll be there too!
