As l am a first generation American from both parents being from Spain and my father having fought in the Spanish Civil war l am offended by the use of a word that is supposed to include Spain. Heck the word Hispanic itself comes from Spain. But since America insists on excluding Spain in its celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Then please change the name to what is really is 100% about, Latin American Heritage month, and stop treating the motherland, Spain as if it doesn’t exist
I disagree. Hispanic is the right term, as the common culture and language that unite all these counties is Spanish... beautifully mixed and integrated by the way with many native cultures and languages from pre-Columbian times. Un saludo.
@@SpanishatOmni Yes l agree it is the correct use. That was not what l was saying. If we are to use Hispanic Heritage month then the people of Spain must be included in all aspects of the celebration, not just the Latinos. Since it has become only a celebration of the Latino heritage then l feel it is appropriate to stop using Hispanic and use only Latino Heritage for that is what it has become only about Latinos!

The right term is Hispanic, for those countries that speak Spanish and enjoy its cultural influence (Latino includes other languages).
