Oh and by the way I don't know if you know this but URD (underdog racing) has a ton of stuff for your 3.4 supercharger. If you looking for some more goodies haha

    I have a Magnuson supercharger installed on my 2017 tundra, towing 28ft RV. I have more then enough power and torque I don’t notice the trailer on the level or going up hill. For me was worth the money, plus my fuel economy improved when I don’t rump on it.

    • @gy56
      @gy56 5 лет назад

      I have not dyned it, but 0-60 in 5.5, 5.7 Twice pushing about 5900 lbs (increased weight add ons) says it about the power. The horse power stated by Magnuson is 550 HP and 550 HP at the crank. I have seen a video with a Magnuson S.C. installed in a 2017 tundra sr5 put on a dyno rear wheel HP is 475 and torque is 467 at 4400 ft of elevation. I think that would be fairly close to real numbers. It is not cheap but I think worth it. I use to own a 69 Malibu SS for years before I sold it. After I added the S.C. this truck feeds my Horse power ego and my sedate normal driving habits so not interested in a new muscle car. I also added the Trd front and rear sway bar the truck handles almost as good as my 325I. But no off road stuff with the sway bars on.

    Nicely done video mate and very informative....I also love the trd superchargers, it's a nice option to have for those Toyota owners that want a good amount of more power but that is also reliable and at a very reasonable value price. Great props to Toyota for making a factory supercharger that all Toyota owners can get and enjoy their Toyota cars and trucks even more.....on a side note, when you think about all the extra power you get from the supercharger and how that creates extra stress on the stock engine block and it's stock internal components, Yet Toyota was ok with just bolting the charger directly to a completely factory stock engine, it just goes to show the quality and durability of a Toyota engine and how they are factory stress tested to handle much more power then what the factory stock engines produce....in other words Toyota engines are over enginerd to last...

    The fuel mods are not needed staying stock true. But doing the urd 7th injector or 2zj injectors or meth injection does help performance and longevity of the engine and charger.. I purchased and rebuilt my 2nd gen charger in my old 98 runner installed it without fuel mods at 300k miles on the drivetrain. Blew the first engine up at 340k swapped in a 270k mile engine with the 7th injector and it was 10x better across the board as far as throttle response and seat dyno. I also remember blowing a belt on the trail once unplugged the 7th injector and used my jump box to keep the truck running long enough to get to the main road good times haha

      I just slapped er on my high km 3.4, somewhere over 400, dont know exactly as I bought it from a wrecked 4Runner that was upside down. And it's been reliable for last 2 years with the blower. Pretty soon I'll be looking for another 3.4, and I will rebuild it for boost and have it ready to drop on if the one I'm running dies. Then I'll do all the fancy stuff. Now they discontinued that too of course because they had issues of bearing problems. The only problem that can solved, is to replace oem bearings for ceramic bearings and a custom shaft ceramic made. And wrapped around it. Making from stock 158 hp to 200 hp: is it worth for me? Yes but we know turbocharger is better. But I’m a die hard TRD. So what do I think? Is it worth it? And why?

    With no required additional fuel delivery I have to assume that it's producing around 5 psi. ?? ( Still adds ponys ) ..have you considered running lower compression turbo style pistons? And a programable ECM. The lower compression pistons will make more power with the same boost. And being able to retard timing while under boost as well as fine tune fuel delivery for optimum AFR. .. other things boosted engines like are cooler spark plugs and stiffer valve springs. .. you don't necessarily have to go crazy like a engine running 20+ psi . But I would at least install a wideband O2+AFR gauge to know for sure you are at it near the ideal 12.5:1 Air Fuel Ratio. .. and have it Dyno tuned. .. if u do go nuts and beef it up for more psi u could add a turbo charger in series with the supercharger .. like a compound turbo setup. .

    • @DirtGarage
      @DirtGarage  4 года назад +2

      I'm going to be running this 3.4 as it is until she blows. In the meantime I have been looking for a spare motor, so I can completely rebuild and beef for go fast parts. At that point I'll consider low compression pistons and whatnot. For now shes a wheeler, works great as is, and dont need to go fast, as most the time shes crawling anyways 😂

    • @jasonwhite8722
      @jasonwhite8722 4 года назад

      @@DirtGarage cool .. I'm not sure what's available for the 3.4. Like if a factory turbo version exist .. but if so those pistons would be ideal and affordable. Like I could get new OEM 22 rte pistons for 100.00 ish a set and will fit a 22re or my 22r. .. a killer swap motor would be a 2jz with out the vvt they have huge aftermarket parts support. And of course are super tough bone stock...

Make sure you replace the head bolts . If you go that far .you need to remove the knock sensors install a brass washers under to make then less sensitive. I just picked a really awesome 99 4Runner 5speed manual, 4x4 with Lockers! This thing does haul if you step on it; however, I would eventually like to have more power! I got a RR Locker, but if I had a TRD Supercharger, then I'd want to get a LSD rear differential. For better high speed driving! It's already got a front diff lock, but it's not as robust like the Rear locker. Let me know your thoughts on this. My current setup is extremely rare from what I hear out there. It's got over 328,800 miles and running like a champ! Thank you! 👍🐺

    • @DirtGarage
      @DirtGarage  5 лет назад

      Are you positive you have a front lock? I've never heard of that from factory! Your setup is extremely rare in the fact it has a manual transmission and a rear e-locker, I have only ever seen one with that configuration. For street performance and LSD is much better, but if you do plan on actually using the locker offroad the LSD will let you down. All depends on how you use it I guess!

    • @scubbarookie
      @scubbarookie 4 года назад

      I think the original owner had an aftermarket switched locker up front, because outside of having the normal all manual (J) configuration 4x4; H4, N, and L4... It has another small stick for the front! It runs an external throttle type cable that leads to it. The RR Locker button is next to the alarm light... I've shown this to some of my friends that off road with Toyotas, Jeeps, and Nissans and they were impressed. It works but I'm still going through the whole thing to make sure it doesn't breakdown! The biggest deal right now is upgrading the lower ball joints and outter tie rod ends! Some of the guys are saying to go with the Tacomas version of these... I just don't want to lose the tight turning radius. What do think about the Taco upgrade?

    • @dankoldenhoven4997
      @dankoldenhoven4997 4 года назад +1

      @@scubbarookie sounds like you just hava a cable actuated front locker, I cant remember who all makes them, but as long as it works that's all that matters. As far as the ball joints are concerned just makes sure you buy OEM Toyota parts.. But once again you've got me confused, a Tacoma and 4runner have identical front suspensions. There would be no difference in putting a Tacoma ball joint in with the exception of telling the guy at the counter what you needed. I could see a Tundra being bigger but I've never heard of upgrading to Tundra ball joints.
      Personally I run stock lower ball joints and Total Chaos upper control arms with the 1in. Uniball on both my 3rd and 5th gen 4runners

    • @DirtGarage
      @DirtGarage  4 года назад +1

      @@scubbarookie Tacoma uses the same suspension components on as 3rd gen 4Runners. I would just replace everything with OEM stuff, I've got a video on balljoints breaking on those 4Runners.
