Im really glad that you returned this to it's original polished condition rather than opting for cold bluing like so many other so called "restoration" videos. Excellent work.
Thank you so much.
@@Atelier_OGIER I highly agree. Thank you for respecting the provenance of this work of art.
Great looking Smith & Wesson
Amazing how well it was constructed with multiple parts, probably most hand made or hand finished!
"They rode them down, Lara. Women and children, begging for bread. There will be no more 'peaceful' demonstrations."
Your revolver reminded me of Doctor Zhivago. Beautiful effort.
Beautiful workmanship and restoration. Classic in all regards!
THE GUN IS VERY NICE 5HE CLEANING AND THE LOOK OF THE GUN IS AWESOMEGOOD JOB
Your setup for electrolysis is smooth.
I copied it from something that already exists. (site tifoo.de)
Your tank setup is impressive. Great video!
Great job on the restoration of a classic firearm.
Would have been much more interesting had you identified the steps you took in this restoration.
Excellent job. It's a pleasure to see someone doing such thorough work. Congrats from Brazil
Very nice job. I like the way you handle the gun. And I like your tool sets. The result stands for your craftsmanship.
I can't believe you only have 2k subs, I can see you hitting 100k easy with this kind of content
Complimenti ottimo restauro👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯😊
magnifique, le travail et le résultat, merci
Bellisima labor en esta pieza¡ Felicitaciones¡¡¡
Excellent travail! Magnifique !
Krásná práce! 👍
Beautiful work! I was on edge until you brought out the plating sauce!Too long of a story, but essentially a Schofield. I have two on my mantle. Loaded. TEXAS
Thank you very much. You have a better gun culture at home than in Europe. We are unfortunately constrained on many things on the amres and they are getting worse from year to year... For the video I am starting, it is not easy to want to edit a lot and keep it short. I'm training for this.
There is a danger of over-restoring and removing the firearm's history.
You are right. It’s a choice for everyone. This one is the request of its owner.
Great job mate. Thanks
Electrolisis, chorro de arena... increible. Felicitaciones.
Amazing
Beautiful gun. Do a good jod.
NICE !!!
Excellent work
Nice job and a beautiful pistol, I believe if you use a metal polishing wheel with 2-4 thousandth diameter wires it would give you a much better finish in the end as the wire wheel your using still left marks.
Thank you so much. My brush has 0.16 mm threads. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time finding something better here.
beau travail
Worth more unrestaured. Looked amazing the way it was.
As noted in the description, this is a customer request. I do what he asks without judgment. Everyone has their own opinion on this.
While the owner of the firearm has the right to do with their property as they wish, I agree, the collectors value of this firearm is greatly diminished.
💯👏👏👏 it's amazing work !
Hey, my local gun store used to have one of these when I first started shopping there.
Everything was going so well, then, after de greasing the parts for an hour you tipped them back onto the same mat as you stripped it on? Then when rebuilding I didn't see a drop of gun oil nor a smear of grease anywhere?? Other than that a fine effort to restore a gun one doesn't see every day! Well Done
WHOA AWESOME WORK
Maravilhoso esse revólver
Magnifique travail!!!

sehr gut gemacht. gute gute arbeit .
Altos Processos químicos uma maravilha
Bon travail 🤪
Merci à vous ;)
You the best.master
A very impressive piece. The time you took and your attention to detail have created a beautiful revolver. But please settle an argument. I believe the grips to be of bone, but my wife thinks they are ivory. Thank you for sharing !
I also thought of bone the first time I held the gun in my hands. But it's definitely ivory. We don't see it on the video but there are traces like fingerprints typical of ivory.
@@Atelier_OGIER thank you !
Bravo
the original condition would have been polished metal surface smooth , then nickel plated and then polished again , so you did an excellent job of cleaning away the old plating , why not re-plate back to nickel ? also I noticed you didnt use any lubrication grease or oil during reassembly , why not ?
Effectively. It's not my weapon, it's my client's. I'm just responding to his request. It was possible to polish it by hand to remove imperfections, but he wanted to keep it that way. Its maintenance will be done by him. Thanks to you.
I've been told a million times not to clean antiques. Why was this a good idea?
From what others say it doesn't matter to me. I saw on the forums that... I am friends told me that.... Do not stay where the others tell you to think or believe. Here it is the request of my client. I myself have similar weapons or no restoration has been made to them. It is everyone's choice. To take the example of cars, do you prefer an old car restored or wreck? Those that others think or say .... Think and do what you think is the best for you. friendly.
Magnifique !
I was visiting with a fellow model A guy at our County Fair Ground model A gathering here in S Tx …… I asked why the short lever coming outta the floorboard “over drive” he said. Then he asserted all the usual questions , how fast , money saved in gas , etc. He surprised me with “I’ve had it up to 75 several times, works good” all the while replacing his water pump 😉
For the love of the gods, gunsmith screwdrivers. I was flinching at every screw.
None of them were damaged.
I wonder how the cylinder got so beat up ?
The standard way of removing a side plate, which does not risk putting gouges on the plate edges, is to remove the screws and tap sharply on the frame with a plastic hammer. After a few taps the plate will jump out on its own.
nice
Wish I could have one of those. NO LICENCE REQUIRED IN CANADA. FALLS UNDER ANTIQUE
That pistol is worth more in it's original as worn condition. Replating it devalued it.
Everyone has their own opinion on this subject. It belongs to a dealer, he sold it very well like that.
Should have either re-plated and lubricated gun after removing plating-or, in the interest of preservation, just cleaned and lubricated and left the original finish.
I am only responding to the customer's request. Kind regards.
Until the lubrication wears off, someone forgets to lube it, and then he rust areas continue to corrode allowing the firearm to become more and more damaged. It's foolish, uneducated preservationist flim flam like yours that lead to a lot of unknowledgeable people (like yourself) perpetuating more flim flam.
What are you doing at 17:20? I thought that was nickle plating, but I see a lot of comments asking why didn't you nickle plate it.
It's really nickel plating ;)
@@Atelier_OGIER Thanks
44 Russian ;)
Can anyone explain the long hook on the bottom of the trigger guard? It's clearly to hook a finger on, but why?
It’s a Smith and Wesson Russian model. The reds liked a place to rest their finger before…
Restoration !!
Whilst I might like the final result, some of the tools in use horrified me. I was taught that, for working on such items, all screwdrivers should be hollow ground to reduce any swelling of the slots in the screw-heads. Heavy pliers tightening lanyard rings would be another definite no-no.
Thanks for your comment. Did you notice a deformed screw or ring in this video?
@@Atelier_OGIER Would need better close-ups to check
Rimfire or centre fire?
Center fire.
If its russian its a 44 american its a 45scofeild
anybody know where i can get parts for one of these in canada or the U.S.? l need an extractor star. The teeth on mine are finished.
Buy the proper screw drivers and don’t pry side plates.
This is the same model gun used by Bob Ford when he killed Jesse James. Also used by Wyatt Earp in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral with the Clanton Gang.
In France 3000/4000€ .
Can you shoot and own the firearms you restored?
I could, I have all the necessary authorizations, but they are not my weapons. Customers drop them off to me and I restore them. Some resell them (second-hand dealer), others are attached to them sentimentally, or collectors.
Very beautiful
Cdt
Muito profissional 🤌🏻
cleaning is not "restauration"!
I have a reproduction of that in 45 colt
The word is restoration, not restauration. To restore something is to bring it back to like-new condition. Restauration is the French word for the same process.
To bad it not the good make it is Russian made.
Hi, no. Russian = model. Made in América
Learn to spell. "RESTORATION"
