This is my favorite version of this song! I love his music, I have been to Hawaii twice 17 days and then 15 days, I cried when I had to go home. Israel was a great man, I cry every time I watch when they have the celebration of life (Hawaiian funeral) and his ashes are put to sea, so beautiful and so sad. And those rainbows look just like that there, you can see complete end to end rainbows! His song "White Sandy Beach" is really good, his voice is so soothing.
This is my comfort song. If I’m feeling chill and happy if I’m feeling sad/emotional. It’s just a beautiful cover of the song. I don’t think I’ve heard another version that comes close to this. ❤
Makes me cry every time. This was played when Dr. Green died on ER - and it made me cry then. IT was very generous of them to share that loving tribute when they scattered his ashes.
What a wonderful reaction to this sweet beauty! 🥂 That's how I feel every time I hear it. (It's in a fave film/soundtrack [Meet Joe Black] of mine, so I hear it often ❤)
Such a beautiful version of this song. So many people have recorded it over the years but I feel this is one of the best. Sadly Israel IZ Kamakawiwoʻole died at the age of 38 in 1997. "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was written for the 1939 film "The Wizard Of Oz" & was sung by actress Judy Garland.
Actual footage from the celebration of his life ❤ I totally agree, I never REALLY appreciated music before turning 30-ish and this in particular was mind blowing when I first heard it 😊 Thanks buddy and you're welcome 👍
An incredibly moving song and video 😢 He called up the guy that owned the recording studio at 3am. Told him that he had an idea for a song. They headed to the studio right away. Could be wrong, but I think he did it in one take. The rest is history
I read he went and recorded this when he couldn't sleep very early in the morning before dawn ... That may be in part why it's a bit stream of conscious and he's not concerned with the words being perfectly accurate lyrically to the original ... Made it his own ...
I only wish you had a video that didn't cut off before he weaves it together with "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. It's still a gorgeous song, though. ❤
@@Helge_Torp no worries! I think that was the version they used for that video, but his song, as recorded and typically played includes What A Wonderful World mashup with Over the Rainbow, and it’s really special. The part of the song represented in this video shows how much he was beloved which makes it special too.
Glad you met him. The winner of American idol last year Hawaiian Iam Tonghi comes very close in energy. When you see the images of his Hawaiian funerals it will be very emitionql and beautiful at the same time. You got the images right their! Nice one. Gr ❤C😢
Beautiful rendition but my favourite rendition is by another great artist who we sadly lost when she was 33 Eva Cassidy , Over The Rainbow is the thumbnail for her beautiful rendition. Gives me Goosebumps every time. Haunting and beautiful. She sadly wasn't recognised until after her death from cancer. Would love to hear your opinion on it.
He has such a beautifullly haunting voice
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song.
Such a beautiful song. Thanks so much for watching.

@@SaeedReacts. Thomas Newman did that soundtrack! Omg it's heavenly.
I have always loved this Saeed….tears when you realise his ashes tipped into the water…

Agree… that’s my very favorite, and he has so many really nice songs , but this one just reaches the farthest to the broader audience. Beautiful.
My bad, I thought it was the full video 😢
