You generally need past work experience that previously worked in a Systems Administrator role Systems Engineer role to work on the Operations side in the cloud. For operations roles, cloud services is like an extension to existing sysadmin roles given that the system administrator role is evolving and expanding. A DevOps Engineer is nothing more than an Operations/System Administrator that works in an agile way that collaborates with the Dev team. They assist in the deployment and automation of the code into production as well as administer and maintain the cloud server infrastructure. Most companies operate in a hybrid environment both cloud and On-prem infrastructures. You are going to have to know both as an admin.

Can a fresher become cloud engineer? I have a bachelor degree on CS and worked as Developer only 5 months now I working as Operation associate for 2 years. I want to back at tech industry. Can I come back and become cloud engineer? what to do how to start for cloud associate or engineer or architect ?
Thanks for sharing, real good explanation. I keep hearing people say do the solutions architect first but I think it really depends on what the person wants to do and what they like. I work as a network admin in a large refinery but would love to learn AWS developer skills and possibly work remotely.
Exactly Robert! It’s about self awareness. What is your end goal that makes you happy. You know you want to work on Developer skills, so aim for that GO! 🙌
@@TheBeach5563 most important thing is to use a practice exam. I mainly used online training from Go Cloud Architects as well as the book for additional material on anything I wanted an extra read on. I hope these help serve you as much as they did me!
I have passed aws cloud practitioner certification.whats next for me ? I don't want to code I hate coding now... Despite of doing coding for the last 8 years now I want to get rid of coding. I like sharing application releases/builds to clients, building deployment on servers and server management etc. Now please suggest where should I move ...? I like to provide application support and manage operations of application, and I want to move on little bit non-technical side. what should I do next?
I mean, if you are looking for non-technical side then maybe consider solutions architecture. It is a nice combination of soft skills and understanding the cloud technology.
Thanks for the post. For a computer science engineering(not software) graduate, would the following certification 1)CCNA 2)AWS certified solution architect (associate) 3)AWS certified sysOps Adminstrator(associate) 4) AWS Certified Advanced Networking , VSphere7, Terraform and Ansible be a good path. Or would you suggest a different order. Thanks
Thanks for the video, really interesting. Since I am interested in the architecture, I was wondering whether you think it is possible to enter the field without a degree in IT (I have a Bachelor in Business Administration) and currently working in the network consulting field (LAN/WAN/WLAN/...). Also I'm working on certifications as CompTia N+ and Sec+, with the long term goal -> Solution Architect. But I still don't know anything f.e. about databases, programming, scripting, etc. On the other hand you mentioned it's "high-level" and also a lot of social skills.
It is totally possible! Just requires focused study, and some grit. Keep at it! Yes solutions architecture you don't need scripting, it is more so focused on design. Understanding why we are using certain tools over others, and how to communicate that value to other business stakeholders so they understand. 🙌
What sort of jobs does the aws associate solutions architect land? since it is not very technical. I assume it is geared for a consultant type role. Is the salary high with associate architect cert? I just dont know if there is a defined career path for aws achitect vs sys ops does. It can go from sys ops --> devops ---> developer.
Yes you would be more of a sales role, more in a solutions engineer role consulting with clients on the their best needs for their cloud infrastructure.
Not at all in sales role. Sales and negotiation is handled by different roles. Solution architect is just as the name implies architects software solutions.
