      The problem is that the Rock-N-Rolk Hall of Fame is situated in the USA and, respectively, attended by those bosses. As a result, many great european bands either were introduced into it very late (ABBA) or are still absent there (Scorpions). As for "Uriah Heep", it was very much popular in the USSR from the mid 1970s till the early 1980s, being spread with tape-recoder bobbins. The last popular album was "Conquest", and after Hensley's leaving the band, "Scorpions", scarcely known before, came instead. Sergey (62), Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

      @user-lz6dd7zl6p Heep were highly revered in states in 1970s.. during Byron's era.. then their popularity slowly faded and reached lows in 80 -90s
      They were also popular in both UK and continental Europe.. and still summon thousands of fans.. I recently attended their show in New Jersey. It was great performance.. Hall of Fame has become extremely politicized.. and that's the biggest issue.. besides of Uriah Heep, there are dozens of other bands that deserve their induction... UFO, Ten Years After, Slade, Sweet, Bad Company, Rory Gallagher, Nazareth, Status Quo, to mention just a few..

    URIAH HEEP is the best rock band ever. On my rock-pop piano covers channel there are two of his great songs, Easy Livin' and Lady in Black, and URIAH HEEP is next to and on the same level as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple. They deserve it!!!

    I grew up listening to my uncle's Uriah Heep albums, although I later learned he didn't have all of the David Byron ones, Very 'Eavy Very 'Umble was missing, and I only discovered the ones after Return to Fantasy much later. Still, the ones I grew up with certainly formed my musical tastes to this day! I was born in '67, so the first album I got myself was actually Fallen Angel from some "surprise" package of random LP's I ordered cheaply from a "record club" I was part of at the time a year or two after it was released. I got Return to Fantasy early, but Wonderworld was a much later acquisition. I didn't even realize High & Mighty was a Byron album until many years later... But I still rate both Firefly and Fallen Angel among my favorite albums by Uriah Heep. I also was introduced to Abominog in the mid-80's, and I really liked that one. But by that time I was 18-20+, and expanding my musical discoveries in so many directions both forwards and backwards in time, that I only really discovered all the rest of Heep's other records only a few years ago.

      , da, într-un fel sau altul Byron a fost genial, tinbrul vocii deosebit de grav și catifelat care emana o căldură inefabila , era asociat cu armonii florale și balans
      , versuri extravagante expansive exuberante și excitante pline de culoare cromatică cu lirism poetic și muzical extraordinar , a fost un fenomen al muzicii veritabile , felul de lucruri deochete că urca pe scenă nu-i treaba ta!! Că era entuziasmat sau poate-poate a consumat alcool iar nu inpieteaza vocalele sale de a trezii din reverie până la paroxism și zenit

    • @alanwallace5342
      @alanwallace5342 28 дней назад

      There actually was another choice and if management had a soul, they would have done it a few years earlier. I've seen the touring schedule of the band around 70 to 76. In-freaking-sane! It is astonishing how they managed to squeeze some of their best work, Demons and Wizards, Magicians Birthday, into such small windows of recording time. They were always touring, performing, traveling. Before Gary Thain there was a pretty good bass player and singer Mark Clarke who basically said, uh uh, I ain't doing this. Everyone was doing something to cope with the stress. Clearly, Thain and Byron needed the most help. Management should have shut them down for a sabbatical, took them off the road, got them to rehab. Instead, they kept going, milked every last dime from them. Burned them out.

    One of the greatest rock bands ever! David Byron was so underrated and according to Ken this led to his demise with alcohol abuse. Poor old chap. One of the greatest singers ever. Should have been recognized as such. I saw them with the classic line up when Sweet Freedom was just released. They opened with Stealin and I was one blown away teen ager. I've been hugh fan ever since I heard The Wizard way back in the day as a kid. The first record with Gypsy on it is a real rock gem too. I love the music Heep and I know I always will. O Lendário Uriah Heep , ao lado de Black Sabbath, Deep Purple e Led Zeppelin , foram no final dos anos noventa, os percursos do Heavy Metal, com seus pesos e temáticas distintas. Porém desde o início de suas atividades até os atuais tempos, sempre foi preterido pela imprensa, falada, escrita e televisiva. Porém as vendagens de seus trabalhos provam ao contrário deste fato, com milhões de cópias vendidas pelo mundo. Salientando que o álbum Uriah Heep Live 1973, foi considerado pela crítica especializada o melhor e maior registro de uma banda de Rock ao vivo. Vida eterna ao mago Medieval.

      You like Lawson (or Lawton)? I saw Heep live with Laws/ton in the 70s just after David Byron left. It was awful, a total flop. David was unique, irreplaceable.

      LAWTON обладал сильным голосом с потрясающим узнаваемым тембром . А Byron имел так себе тенорок ,который вне репертуара Uriah Heep не узнаваем. Так ,что этот. ,,провал " был в вашей голове .

    Not sure why Byron isn't up there with the top vocalists of all he damn sure is one of the best.....could be his erratic and self destructive lifestyle....RIP David your charismatic stage presence and operatic yet soulful vocals cannot be matched!!!

    Uriah Heep was dead as they kicked David Byron. Very bad move. He was the Mighty King of this group and will be forever.

    Only problem i see here is they really bypassed the early days that in the very early 70s made them the great band they were. No mention of Ken & Lee's time with Toe Fat plus what happened to those awesome LPs Salisbury , Demons & Wizards , The Magicians Birthday & that nasty assed Live LP from 73. These were pivotal recordings in their careers not to mention those who grew up with the early inception of Uriah Heep at their best & heaviest. They certainly earned their place in Rock history. Still this clip has some great later on footage.

  • @toddregis9334

    I could never work out why a band i admired up to 'magicians birthday' managed to sink so low. All the excitement seemed to go out of the band from 'high and mighty' onwards. For every good track there was so much filler and Ken Hensley's songwriting got more and more AOR. It was like success in America at any price. having since them on the 'live' tour in the early seventies when they were hungry and having seen them recently, i came away saddened that this is a band playing on long past glories. You watch the beginning of this documentary and the end and it is sp glaring.

      The last great Heep album was Return to Fantasy in my opinion. That's the last one with David on it. And coincidentally, the last Heep album I bought.

      I wont rate Sabbath against Heep since its two very different bands. Regarding Purple they really made just 4 very good albums compared to Heep who made at least 6 very good ones with no fillers. ;-) All in all I think Heep made more good songs than Purple all over, but of course I do love Purple MK2 as much as anyone.

    • @punypoppy9147
      @punypoppy9147 8 лет назад +5

      +Terje Pedersen Yeah it's really typical to compare Purple and Heep but idk bro's. I think they're so different still that they are just completely different bands. I think Heep is more melodic and generally has better songs. Purple was just really hard rock type of a band back in the days.

      @danielsimard1977 8 лет назад +1

      The fact is that those 3 band was born in about the same time, which was in my teenage years, and there milestone album was all publish in 1970, or so, but for a lot of oldies like me, Sabbath and Purple are more knew after.

      This band stands on its own and always has. They are a masterpiece of a band, and Black Sabbath and Deep Purple have no similarity to this band at all. And all of these bands highly respected each other, unlike idiot bands that argue with each other, bands back then were humble and truly cared about what rock'n'roll was
