I've built 3 of these. 2 sleepers and one daycab. I used testers orange tube glue, put a good bead on both surfaces. Let it sit a couple minutes and push the pieces together then slide them up and down til there is some grab. Align them and then push together til a bead of glue and styrene squeezes out. I let it set for a couple days to cure out completely. Then you carefully sand the bead smooth. No putty didn't loose any rivet detail. None of my trucks have a visible seam.

Thank you Tom, I may share your information in an upcoming video. (If you don't mind, of course). I did have another experienced modeler whe also built a handful of these Freightliner kits and also used pretty much the same technique, and also with excellent results.
I was surprised when i found these kits in my hobby store. Round 2, should be commended and I have been buying many truck and automotive kits.
I think our new younger generation of youthful modelers would benefit by lighting a gentle warm fire 🔥 underneath them and verbal guidance from experienced modelers such as yourself would help turn these new generations into the incredibly rewarding wonderful world of scale model building.
Thank you sir. Thank you for joining this wonderful hobby community by sharing your experience with everyone.

Thanks. I've built models off and on for 40 years! Jeez, that looks terrifying in print!!! Anyway,I agree, round 2 has revived a lot of these old truck models. Most of my couple dozen or so truck kits have been from round 2. Once this virus crap calms down, my brother's goin to help me set up a RUclips page or whatever it's called, and I'm gonna put up some photos,at least at first,of some of the builds I do. I'm fairly tech stupid,I can look things up,photos and RUclips, but that's about it.
I do a lot of customizing ,kit bashing and scratch building. I've only built a couple trucks box stock!.
I got back into the hobby about 7 years ago and build mostly semis, and some hot rods you know. I got my oldest boy(21 years old) into some of it after a long estrangement. But I agree,so so many of the younger generation would benefit from getting into the hobby. I hadn't seen any of your videos before, but I love these Freightliner trucks, somi clicked! I like your work,so I subscribed. Look forward to looking at some more of your builds.
Thanks for replying, and of course you can pass on my tip. It works with aircraft models fuselage halves and pretty much anything like that!
Have a great day! Stay healthy.

Nice tip, allthough I had that problem even though I did not add reinforcements inside the cab :-)

      Thanks Kim's Kustomgarage....
Yeah that Freightliner cab can be all over the place.
My Diamond Reo has the opposite problem...it won't stay inside the cab ands falls out all the time causing broken bits here and there.
      I like your channel.

Nice tip, thanks for sharing. I did something similar to get mine to finally fit. I just posted part two of my build on my channel. I really like the rivets you did, looks really nice. Are those aftermarket seats for the interior? I agree, the kits worth it in the end, loos great on my shelf. I just subscribed so I will be checking out more of your videos. Have a great day.

Thanks.....I'm definitely going to check out your fix for the cab. Your right....these are beauties when done. The seats I get on eBay all the time for about 5 dollars. Resin seats for the Ford Lighting pickup....they are perfect. Going to check out your videos too...thanks PIW !!!!

@@FlorentinoRebuildingCo.5644 Cool deal for those seats, I'll check them out. Yeah, my fix for the cab didn't make it on the video but even after trimming it down I still had to squeeze it in there. Have a great day

What model/size archer rivets did you use?

    • @FlorentinoRebuildingCo.5644
      @FlorentinoRebuildingCo.5644  2 года назад +1

      Jose,
      Archer Fine Transfers,
Resin Rivet Heads: G Scale #AR88083 $17.95. (these are an EXACT match for AMT's)
I did a video on them "Rivets are here" at the 1:10 minute mark, if you wish to see how they look.
It wouldn't hurt to shop around for different Archer Rivets....as long as they are G Scale, they'll work.
The real rivet heads on the real Freightliners are 3/8" and 5/8" rivet head diameter, if this helps.
Good luck Jose.....and take your time with this model. She is delicate, but will look like a beautiful Princess when done.
