I want to comment you on the front axle sticking out to far! I bought out Ollie's Stores AMT/ Ertl/ Moebiues, Model,s lots are from the 1970,s! From the store in my hometown I couldn't believe one day I got there flyer and there it was 1,2/5 Scale model Truck,s and Trailer,s I got in touch with the Manager and told him I'm buying all there inventory from that store? Now the Kits are from back in the 70,s the tires are 2 piece you have to glue them together!! And they fit Perfectly. And you also can sand them down and make them look like they have road wear on them. I built 100,s of kit,s and still have over 800 Kit,s of every model Made. So , when I decide to build a Model Truck. I gather my parts boxes and gather everything together for the build.
Great custom work, thanks for sharing your process. I built one of these "out of box" on my channel and even though it was a pain sometimes, I'd like to build another one and customize it. Looking forward to watching more of this, thanks and have a great day. -David
yeah man, that front axle was almost a deal breaker for me. I didn't know it was an issue until it was too late! I ended up grinding away the inside of the wheel and the face of the brake drum. afterwards, it made it so much easier to mount the step ladders. they were a pain also! Keep at it bud!
Looking good man stumbled across your chanel looking for some reviews on this kit cuz i just got this kit and never again no more amt kits fitment is bad the castings are bad. But i love coe's. I used both sleepers to extend the cab and i also stretched the frame 2 3/4 inches.
The mirrors are super difficult. I finally got ahold of a micro drill bit set. Once I get the truck at the finishing stages I'll make those mirrors really stick. The exhaust is super finicky. If you use a thin set glue and some small clamps you'll get the best results. I do plan on buying another one of these in the future. Even with it's issues it's still a decent kit
i just bought this kit.an im so dissapointed...how the hell can we build this the parts on the runners arent numbered...are we supposed to use the force,or somethin?!?!?!
It does take a little patience to build. I don't know why the didn't supply the numbers. If you take your time most of it isn't too difficult. There is the odd piece that is hard to tell where it goes even following the pictures. I modified my build heavily, but hopefully they will help you better understand where and how most of the parts go.
There only Models you have to use your imagination. There a 1,2/5 version of a real life truck almost not quite? I know what you mean about no number,s I have been building these models Truck,s since the 70,S I fold up the instructions and use it for toilet paper! I build all my model Truck,s almost the same way if I had a real one in my Garage being built right down to primering the body to Nitro Stain! and lots of Sanding and alot of different Lacquer paint,s. No model is 100% but I guarantee you, I can get mine close to a 99.9%
First of all why in hell do you want the front end lowered? Are we looking for that low rider look? Most old school classic look don't lower the front end.

Thank you for the wonderful comments. I want to do another one the future also.

I love the challenge that this truck brings. On to the next mod.

Thank you! The fun has only just begun...lol Don't forget to check out episode 2 on this truck. I design and start work on dropping the rear frame.
You need to check the clearance for the oil pan, I don't think it will work with the way you have the front axle.
I'm pretty sure the oil pan will be an issue too. Maybe I'll cut it the pan to simulate a dry-sump pan...we'll see.
cool kit but the exhaust and mirrors took forever. also my decals were cracked and basically trash :/

No turbo that would be a 262 cummins

You need to speak louder please
CUT THE AXLE IN THE CENTER! TAKE PART OF CENTER OUT AND REGLUE!
