Look i have seen many people comment below that some say its good some its bad ! But my honest opinion this is it has been a part of our culture for may century’s & these cities & citizens built around it ! I could personally recommend 90% would not cheat you on this even on street ! But of course if you are buying gems & you don’t know about it its better to get some advice or have someone’s guidance who may know about it ! But overall these people are pretty much fair & trustworthy ! 🇱🇰🙏

yes don't believe all people , now a day sri lankan economy getting verse therefore some people may find cunning way to earn money, in that case you have to be more careful ,when you go somewhere ,you don't know the places ot the country you ask policemen about it they will say right way.

Shouldn't buy gems on the street, unless you are an expert. Go to a government run gem shop so that you wouldn't be cheated 🤔(there you'll get a guarantee and a certificate of authenticity)

@daya Weerasinghe, Do not spread lie. I bet you have never bought s single stone from Nivithiagala or Ratnapura Gem markets. These people in these popular trading hotspots almost never lie, or cheat. Never hesitate to buy stones from the popular trading hotspots in Sri Lanka.. Yes there is a chance of getting scammed, elsewhere if you're gonna hunt abnormally cheap stones.

Most of the gem stones found maybe treated to enhance color through radiation techniques. Natural stones with great color and no artifacts seen under magnification are expensive.

Brother its not good thing if you try to bargain without knowing how the prices work and how to identify the quality. And in this part of the world 1 lack is 100,000. So 10 lacks = 1 million. So we commonly use lacks instead of thousands when its goes to 6 digits.
