Cloyster singlehandedly carried the whole team! ...by setting a T-spike and then failing to put a dent in Arceus but hey they're trying, okay? Bit more respect for your elders, Cloyster's been here since Gen 1 and can barely keep up with all these young upstarts lol
Gave vital info on ev spreads for Arceus, put up t spikes, forced Arceus to respect the shell smash, and tanked attacks. Not bad for a unusable pokemon before ss
That speed tie win, absolutely huge, let you get rid of Xerneas as a late game threat with a knock off, opposing team was heavily threatened by Yveltal so they had to throw their best win condition away. Had you lost the speed tie, you'd have used Mewtwo for the KO as it outspeeds and can finish off a 63% health Yveltal (After the recovery from Oblivion Wing). However, a lot could have dramatically changed from this point on. After that KO, he could have come in and setup Geomancy. You would have then definitely lost 1 or more mons, as Mewtwo Psystrike (During Setup) + Arceus Extreme Speed is not enough to KO, so you don't get away with just sacking Cloyster. Tldr: Coin flip wins game.
it's mostly because Mewtwo Y is a hard check into M-Gengar and it outspeeds almost everything except Deoxys. It just falls off later gens just because of no more Mega and too many good Dark types. Also higher speed tiers too.
When I heard u say gengar with levitate… I thought it was a brain fart. Then I saw it was gen 6. I miss that mon… cursed body just isn’t the same vibe.
I know it comes with years of practice, but both singles and doubles guys processing speed is intimidating to me lol they just consider so much so fast
I was confused why he didn't bring Gengar in to absorb the tspike. Then I realized this was good ol levitate Gengar. Haha the one scenario where cursed body is better.
If the opportunity presents itself, I wouldn’t mind watching a live commentary for that final game. Maybe you could invite another player to co-commentate, especially if it’s a gen you’re unfamiliar with.
I'm a huge freezai fan (this goes without saying) but it's a little disorienting to me whenever he edits out a few seconds here and there (e.g. around turns 14 and 18). But I know he has to consider viewer retention or whatever. At any rate, great job freezai!
Not in this gen to start with, but even if it was, it wouldn't really help. Xern is still a great pokemon, so most pokemon will still often lose, even at +2, +2, +2. Which means your specific check to xern would be better off running an item that helps deal with more than just xern.
I have a question actually, why do you always only do one T spike? Does the extra damage from toxic posion not matter that much, or is it to avoid giving them a two for one turn economy with defog?
Poison damage: 12% every turn. Badly poison damage: 6%, then 12%, then 18%. In offense vs offense matchups you usually only put up one t spike because mons won't be staying on the field as long, so they'll end up taking more damage from regular poison overall, or the same as badly poison if they're on the field for 3 turns.
SPOILERS in the thing Congratulations! Winning just the one time in the finals pretty much just means you're world champion, right? Right? Jokes aside, we're all cheering for you, here! Would love to know the results once it's all done. Edit: updates are in the community post tab on his channel... SHEESH! Looking forward to what heppens next!
Regular poison does 1/8 per turn, whereas toxic poison only deals 1/16 on the first turn and increases by 1/16 on each subsequent turn. This means that it takes 4 turns for toxic poison damage to exceed regular poison. Given how frequently Pokémon switch out (resetting the damage to 1/16) or get knocked out, it's often better to just take the flat 1/8 from 1 spike, rather than expending an extra turn to set up 2.
One spike does a constant 12% damage. Two spikes does 6%, then 12%, then 18%, etc. by turn 3, they will have done the same amount of damage, and two layers does more from turn 4 onward. In a fast pace metagame like Ubers, you want 1 layer to do more over 1-2 turns rather than high damage over the long run. Also, he couldn’t give the arceus free turns
Well done! Also, please bring back randbats alongside of these. A lot of people subbed to u in the first place for randbats, including me, and I constantly see the demand for them in your comments. At the very least, could you at least tell us if you will or will not play/post them again? I don’t want you to take this as a stranger demanding something of you, bc that’s not cool, you owe me nothing. But I’m truly the *biggest* fan of your random battles and I’d be remiss not to ask for them to return

that one T-spike working overtime
Speaking from experience yeah it can do some work.
That was his plan from the start, and boy did it get the damage he needed.

GEN6 UBERS WITH A CLOYSTER?!
actually a pretty common lead in the meta
I don't know anything about Ubers from lots of the middle gens, so it's a nice surprise to see Mewtwo doing anything whatsoever!
Bro mew2 has always been good
Its mega forms put in quite some work, especially the Y variant

Turn 4 was the best move of this game. Reading recover from Arceus was insane.
Well, thanks for removing all the comments calling out how trashy the sponsor is, I still hope you would address it
Nice game, I just saw two errors in your thoughts. Arceus does not get taunt until gen 9, and Xerneas/Yveltal do not get Defog until gen 7.

Why didn’t regular gengar remove the t-spike when switched in?
It still had levitate in this generation.
Why is mirror herb not more popular in formats with Xerneas?
Mirror herb was added in gen 9, so it didnt exist back then

2nd tspike only does more damage if the pokemon stays for more than 3 turns and you usually need to switch a lot

How are you looking at a team with three mons immune to toxic spikes and saying "year toxic spikes are really good here"? What is the thought process.
Xern and pdon are crazy good mons and poisoning them makes handling them easier, I assume
i dont understand when he say something like Gengar should take 1 turn to remove t-spike

it has levitate until it mega evolves
