I'm a die-hard warwick fan and proud owner of a corvette standard bubinga. I haven't played anything else since 2007 and I'm very happy with the way it sounds and feels. Warwick has been releasing many videos on their basses lately but their videos just don't do the basses justice. I wish they hired Ed to showcase at least the top notch models, which would make half the world want buy them... You are a great musician and the best reviewer on youtube, Ed. I miss your videos. Cheers from Brazil!
Maaaan, that pick tone is killer. I might consider selling off my family for scientific research just to get my hands on this beauty!! Awesome review as always Ed! Look forward to the next one :D
Cheers for the great review, so good to see someone who actually demonstrates the the on board preamp and the difference between the pickups! To the effect of tone, is the Genz Benz's eq set flat? Keep up the awesome reviews!
@123andrelevy - Pickups can be built many ways, so it's not a straight apples vs. oranges comparison. But in general, single coils are brighter and more open sounding. HBs are louder, more complex in the mids... this is VERY general. It depends on the pickup.
@Thatguy301 The switch above all means you can just flick it to go into slap mode without having to Eq so you could say have more presence/ a "better sound" (if you think it is! everyone is different!) for a slap solo, or a slapped section, same idea with the Ibanez slap "wheel" which rolls from slap to finger style eq as it were. Also, aren't Genz Benz rigs really like transparent sounding, but adding edges and mild colour too your sound? (which is why many love them) I could be way off there.
Hi Ed!!! Great review!! a have a killer question about single coils and humbuckers: what are their sounding characteristics ,good points ,bad points, stuff like that...
@Aureliano0Peachdoor - Well, maybe it's an old one. Regardless, the best reason to trade is because you both want what the other one has. If that works for you... why not? Switching to 5 will be a little challenge at first, but you'll get used to it. Most everyone does.
@hautausurakoitsija Really? I was pretty surprised to see that they went with SDs on this model. Then again I only know the MECs from my Corvette Proline but I think they're great pickups.
What can you tell about the neck? Is it very thick? I liketo keep my bass very low (the bottom of the bass reaches my knee) My question will be, will it be comfortable to play with the 5 string model without twisting my wrist like crazy. Thanks
@Xberzerkerai its not the same instrument. Both Warwick and spector have different characteristics. The shape is similar but the woods, frets, hardware, pickups are different.
Hi, Ed. Although Warwicks are not my preferred type of bass, I must say it was a great review of a great instrument. But hey, your voice sounded a little strange in this video. Did you have a cold? Hope you're feeling better now. Cheers from Porto Alegre, Brazil.
@hautausurakoitsija Hi. I owned two Warwick Thumbs, one with MECs and one with SD Basslines. I was not much of a fan of either pickups. By the way, I also owned a bass with the SD STC-3 preamp (I think that's what the reviewed bass here has). It had the slap contour pot. I thought it made things too scooped, even for slap. That being said, the Warwicks I've played have been nice basses.
@Aureliano0Peachdoor - That would depend on where the bass was made. German made Warwicks are pretty expensive, the Asian ones much less. I wouldn't swap a 70s Ripper for anything less than a $1500-2K trade value myself. Unless it's totally trashed, then it might not be worth more than 1K.
I tried a standard Streamer and was extremely disappointed. It had almost no output, even compared to a Squire P-bass. It may have been a one-of-a-kind problem, but I was still disappointed.
@theothertroll Thanks a lot captain obvious but I already knew that he was using a Genz Benz Rig...The rig wasn't the highlight of the video or the reason alone that I watched it. The bass plugged into the rig is the highlight of the video and the reason that I watched it. I like warwicks, I've played warwicks and I have friends who use warwicks and I have no complaints. What I dont like is a random idiot replying to me pointing out the obvious and then insulting me. Have a great life!!! ^_^
not my favorite warwick tbh.... last years SE seems to be better... I dont like the sound of the slap contour switch... and looks like it gives its the best sound when using a pick... and I dont play with picks.... I seriously think seymour duncan pickups + seymour duncan preamp = fail....
@theothertroll Well fucking done. Yes obviously the rig is involved in it, but if the bass didn't add %70 of the sound why bother making different styles eh? Why bother buying an expensive bass. It makes so much sense that the instrument that creates the initial sound has no form of impact on the final product. Your logic is pretty much flawed there my friend.

I can hear similar tone to my Spector Euro LX5 and it has similar design too,great review again btw. ;)
It has a deep fat mellow tone to it that I absoluteky love!!!
I love how that Warwick sounds :)
Hi Ed, I just bought that Streamer XL 20011 from Tyler,a few days ago....I love this bass....it is AWESOME!!!!
Thanks again Ed, just bought this bad boy
One of the best sounding basses I've ever heard. I love the Streamer sound. However; I don't like the price tag. I'd rather keep my car.
My father's got one of these, it's so beautiful, lovely for playing the Blues on *nod*
@BassGuitarMag thank you :)
Can't beat that Warwick tone...
beautiful instrument...
wow, this bass sounds a very powerfull
this sounds ace, was wondering what bass to get next, this may be the one
Maaaan, that pick tone is killer.
I might consider selling off my family for scientific research just to get my hands on this beauty!!
Awesome review as always Ed! Look forward to the next one :D

@Aureliano0Peachdoor - And thanks for the compliment!

I heard the bits of Frankenstein you played there. Nice review!
yes :)

Great review as always. Hope some day you'll review the mighty Thumb. Even better, the fretless model.
Hi Ed!!!
Great review!!
a have a killer question about single coils and humbuckers: what are their sounding characteristics ,good points ,bad points, stuff like that...
@ 6:50 Do you realize the HUGE resemblance between this riff and Dani California by RHCP?
beauty
Very nice instrument! I like the different pick-ups that make this bass guitar unique. What is the cost???
ed, love the review but would you recommend the streamer or the corvette for a jazz funk sound?
Is there any benefit related to brass frets? harder than regular frets or just the look?
@BassGuitarMag Ed, out of all the basses you've ever owned played and reviewed what would you say is your favorite bass to play?
makes me want to go play my warwick...ohh i guess i'll wait till the end of the video!
@Aureliano0Peachdoor - Well, maybe it's an old one. Regardless, the best reason to trade is because you both want what the other one has. If that works for you... why not? Switching to 5 will be a little challenge at first, but you'll get used to it. Most everyone does.
Nice bass!!
It has a tight low end, growly mid, and a great high sizzle.
Ed, any chance that you could do a review on any of the Warwick Dolphin or Infinity series?
@lanzilotta29 - KInd of hard to pick one... but probably a Jazz bass is my "home" bass.
anyone else else notice that in the intro it says 2001 Streamer LX SE?
A hell of a bass sound! And mor than a hell of a slap sound - either with or without "Slap-Shape" - knob. Ineed more money...
can you make a review of modulus quantum bass?
@GridMor I agree... Not really the tone I crave or look to get from a Warwick.
hey ed you got any lakland reviews comin up?
@hautausurakoitsija Really? I was pretty surprised to see that they went with SDs on this model. Then again I only know the MECs from my Corvette Proline but I think they're great pickups.
Any intention on making a review of an Esh Stinger 2 bass or any other Esh bass?
What can you tell about the neck? Is it very thick? I liketo keep my bass very low (the bottom of the bass reaches my knee) My question will be, will it be comfortable to play with the 5 string model without twisting my wrist like crazy. Thanks
@dobbs123456789 - Around 20, but this bass is a review - it's not mine.
@theothertroll Tell me Mr. Troll, what is your prefered bass?
@Xberzerkerai its not the same instrument. Both Warwick and spector have different characteristics. The shape is similar but the woods, frets, hardware, pickups are different.
I really enjoy the sound of those Duncans, even thou they are cheramic
@thillwl - It could happen, it depends on what they send me.
Hi, Ed.
Although Warwicks are not my preferred type of bass, I must say it was a great review of a great instrument. But hey, your voice sounded a little strange in this video. Did you have a cold? Hope you're feeling better now.
Cheers from Porto Alegre, Brazil.
@feverhood - I can't imagine it being comfortable to play any bass that low, but I think a 4 string would be easier for you.
I thought it made things too scooped, even for slap. is it bolt on
@jcgarciabass - The people that hire me have not sent me one to review.
@Aureliano0Peachdoor - That would depend on where the bass was made. German made Warwicks are pretty expensive, the Asian ones much less. I wouldn't swap a 70s Ripper for anything less than a $1500-2K trade value myself. Unless it's totally trashed, then it might not be worth more than 1K.
same chord progression as in sweet home alabama during the slap
This thing is PHAT!!!!
i looked at this and my mind said spector haha xD
I tried a standard Streamer and was extremely disappointed. It had almost no output, even compared to a Squire P-bass. It may have been a one-of-a-kind problem, but I was still disappointed.
It looks quite compact compared to say a Jazz or a Precision - great tones though!
Ed how many basses do you own?
@MORGAN1992FREEM4N - Either one.
What's the first riff called?
Nothing, just something I made up for the demo.
&:27 sounds red-hot-tish to me, but cooler! awesome.
@jchanman911 - I don't think so.
@Fenderwolf95 - Don't feed the troll! He's going to be blocked anyway. I don't stand for trolling.
@bassistxx - Man, I just lost 10 years....
@nuclearsoysause - Fixed!
I thought you were gonna play slapping sweet home alabama there
@igorgoiaba - I'm fine thanks, probably just allergies.
@theothertroll Thanks a lot captain obvious but I already knew that he was using a Genz Benz Rig...The rig wasn't the highlight of the video or the reason alone that I watched it. Have a great life!!! ^_^
@anapofasistos123 - Only if someone hires me to do it.
... and costs about $5011?
@nuclearsoysause instantly
@Thatguy301 - Don't bother trying to explain or be rational. He's a troll, he's also outta here.
Warwick's = Spector rip offs
not my favorite warwick tbh.... last years SE seems to be better... I dont like the sound of the slap contour switch... and looks like it gives its the best sound when using a pick... and I dont play with picks.... I seriously think seymour duncan pickups + seymour duncan preamp = fail....
