    justin did an interview where he was saying he wasn't sure if wal basses were going to keep their doors open or something so he went and had this made, but decided to stick with wal basses once they figured out whatever problem they were having. to my ears, the only recordings i think he used it on are "we miss cliff" from the hired gun soundtrack, and maybe also the puscifer remix he did a few years ago. just because this video is from 2018 doesn't mean this bass is only two years old. if I'm wrong about those songs its all good, just my guess is all

    Wonderfully crafted instruments,I owned a few warwicks over the years including a streamer stage 11.The only thumbs down I can give the basses is the mec pickups and electronics.I really didn't care much for them,but then again its my personal opinion.nice to see Warwick using Aguilar pickups on some of there custom shop models.

    • @matthewd6306

      I believe Justin had a different pre amp installed on this bass, not the mec. Some bass players like hotter pickups and preamps, i personally love the Mecs on the my Corvette.

      @@jackshittle Come on... this stupid rumor? Again?
      Justin Chancellor stated to (I believe) Bass Magazine himself, that he struggled with the sound of the bass, true - but continued with pointing out the reason for that to be the Nordstrand PUs, that they made custom for this bass and it took him a while to like the tone of them but experimented long enough with it so he can finally enjoy it.
      Nowhere is it written or said that he gave it back or anything - I really want to know where all you hater kids heard that. I can't find this anywhere on the web at all.
      Also his appearance at NAMM with this bass sounded rather enthusiastic than negative. The video is down for copyright reasons - because somebody live streamed it without permission but you can still find it if you dig long enough. He seemed to really like it in this one!

    • @matthewd6306
      @matthewd6306 5 лет назад +3

      I doubt it. He's probably experimenting with new basses and found Warwick to be a great fit to make him a custom bass. Sometimes a new instrument can inspire creative ideas that turn into new music. You'll still see him with the Wal live, but I wouldnt be surprised if a Warwick makes an appearance too.

    So whatever ended up happening to this endorsement? Anyone??

    • @Project_2501
      @Project_2501 2 года назад +1

      To my understanding there never was an endorsement to begin with. There is this ominous NAMM video from 2018 that got erazed from the internet in which Justin was presenting this bass in front of a small audience. I think it got taken down due to his actual endorsement with Wal. From there on the whole rumors and the BS-talk around this bass started. But Justin himself pretty much gave all the information to the whole situation in that now deleted video and also in a couple of interviews he gave to some smaller outlets and mostly in text form. There is still videos from 2016 to be found on RUclips where he talked about that. He said that Warwick made the bass after he was at the Warwick BassCamp 2016 and that he was working with Nordstrand to make signature PUs for him and it seems to be those specific ones found in this custom Warwick. Justin said he needed to get used to the sound of the PUs, because he was expecting something else from them and that he was going to spend more time to explore their sound possibilities and how to incorporate them into future recordings. But I think it is not featured on the later released Tool album, but I could be wrong on that. Against the rumors it was not the Warwick but the PUs he didn't like and I also don't think that "he gave it back to Warwick" as some people claim, because I literally can't find ANY information about that on the internet that would support that. I read it somewhere here in the comment section that some hater kids believe that, because it was found on Warwick's own online shop later. But they actually put all of their custom shop instruments into their shop, also the ones that clearly got used by some famous artist on stage later and I think that is done so that potential customers can order a near identical one - if they can afford it that is. But I think that this is the end of the story and that Justin will not use this one or any other Warwick bass in the future anymore and there never was an actual endorsement.
