- The “Veterans Stories” series features Metro Area Vietnam Veterans sharing their personal experiences from the Vietnam War. The nine veterans who shared their experiences are: Lee Blackmon, Decker A. Decker, Jack McCormack, John McInerney, Guy Palumbo, Steve Tagg, Joseph Giannini, Michael Sulsona and Michael Mullarkey.
A very special and poignant portrayal of soldiers serving their country who upon returning from a job well done never heard: “Welcome Home”.
I'm a fan of The Wonder years and I had no idea he was a Captain in the US Marine Corps. Such an impressive individual.
Love him as an actor! Had no idea he’s a veteran. I have even greater respect for Mr. Lauria. God bless 🇺🇸
Comedian Rob rigged was a captain in the marines. As well as Dennis Franz a Viet nam vet.
Still remember that episode when Lewis said to him: "You keep thinking the way you do Mr Arnold and these two (Kevin and Wayne) will be next, and I just hope that's what they want"
"Any politician who voted for war their kids should be the first to go."
Yes.
A such an honor! Sir! I'm a huge fan!
I absolutely loved Dan Lauria in “The Wonder Years”.
This man (Dan Lauria) was a huge part of my growing up. Always reminded me of my dad. I owe him tons for that. I owe him tons more for his service. Warms my heart whenever I see him.
Semper Fi Dan, I had no idea!! Liked you in Wonder Years. That just went up a whole buncha points. OOORAH!!
Thank you for your service, Marine Lauria.
😉You’re a fantastic actor, too, ‘Jack Arnold’!😎
I knew Dan Lauria from The Wonder Years. Only his character was a Korean War veteran. I never would have known Dan was a real veteran but a Vietnam vet.
Thank you for service!
I always thought Mr. Lauria never acted in TWY, he was just being himself, an honest, hard working man. Great interview.
Much love to Dan, he always reminded me of my grandpa. Same mannerisms, same style, hard worker
No, they are different. Jack Arnold doesn't question war, Dan Lauria does.
Thank you Mr. Lauria
Dan, I loved hearing your opinions and sage advice regarding the military. The last time I saw you was at Camp Hanson. I was also at the Basic School with you. You were a leader at the Basic School and I remember you fondly. We are both from Ct. Semper fi, buddy. -Craig Miller
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your service Craig
Thank you for your service Craig and Dan.
Appreciate your service Craig
My father did work on camp Henson with the marines running to Boy Scouts, had my dad not have the love for aircraft and working in sac after he was on Okinawa he would of transferred to the usmc.
I think his idea about taking kids who are obsessed with these war video games to a VA hospital is an excellent idea. I remember when I was young and used to watch old war movies and GI Joe and everything else and thought war was fun and cool.....until my mom made me watch Born on the Fourth of July. Boy, that sure changed my whole perspective.
I'm a fan of Yonder Years.
Wow, I never knew that he was a Vietnam vet!
Dan Lauria as Jack Arnold always reminded me of my father. Now, I see it's because he is a Vietnam Veteran like My Father. The way he speaks and carries himself is just like my Father. I miss My Dad... Hearing Dan speak is comforting.
God bless him ❤
When you talked about your marine buddies are still connected, you couldn’t of said it better. Us marines always have that brotherhood. Plus you are right. When you get out they send you through taps. But it does not get you ready for what you will face on the outside. Semper fi sir
Thanks for your service Dan. And thanks for your contributions as Jack Arnold. Idiot's will never understand soldiers just fight the rich man's war.
"Soldiers just fight the rich man's war"...you say. WHY do soldiers fight the rich man's war?
My Father passed away in 2016 and everytime I rewatch the Wonder Years and watch Mr Lauria aka Jack Arnold,he reminds me of my dad in alot of ways..One of the best actors in my book
I love him!
I had no idea until i saw a wonder years reunion thing that dan was/is a marine
He expressed his appreciation for and added that he had contributed a bit to the episodes that dealt with veteran issues and war conversations
My love and respect for him has gone up so much higher
In under six minutes he makes some AMAZINGLY POWERFUL POINTS regarding our veterrans , our politicians , war , and glorifying and romanticizing killing other humans
WOW
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS
Wow. What a great man.
Omg he was a nam vet? Awesome, total respect🙏
This guy is always surprising me!! Man, what’s dude.
AMAZING point about that period after WW2 where they spent more time with each other and were able to detach together. Maybe a 2 month restation in a Germany or Japan while still in the military environment but not combat? Especially if they’re surrounded by the same guys they just served with.
Semper Fi Dan. That series chokes me up to this day, especially the series finale, where pop dies soon after
Thank You so much, for your support to our plight.
This is an amazing interview by an incredibly wise man. So much to learn from him.
Thank You Dan for your service. Such a great actor too.
i loooooove this man from the wonder years! man what an amazing actor!! i love him and listen to him here .. so true he is such an amazing servent what a wise man
Huge fan of Wonder Years, and I really think Dan Lauria nailed that part so well. Now, I not only think of his amazing acting talent but as a person who served his country and continues to serve fellow veterans.
Thank you all so much for your service, welcome home.👊🏻🇺🇸
Thank you for your service Dan,and for sharing your brilliant insight on the effects of war on veterans and the politics behind decisions that factor into war. I’ll have to read the book you mentioned, “war is a racket”.
He is saying the most important thing we all should never forget, we've got to get the types of politicians out of office who keep us in these endless conflicts.
Thanks for your service during and after !!
Thank you sir for your insights. Refreshing to hear common sense in these times. Bless you for your service.
Dan thank you much for this.
Excellent points all the way through....
Lauria is spot on about the military. Men in comfy leather chairs, sipping cognac, smoking cigars and sending young people to faraway places to die for mercenary or political causes is a truism. The horrible treatment of Vietnam vets was a knee-jerk reaction by a public unaware of the manipulations of their government.
Wise words from a wise man.
SEMPER FI Dan always liked you before this interview
Very true.
Jack and Karen episodes of TWY are my favorite.
she was a brat
My 2nd Dad
Mine too, brother!
wow, he was a bit the father of all of us who grew watching TWY
He looks like a Marine. What did they feed those dudes?
If you ever meet a Vietnam vet, please thank them and tell them you love them. Don't tell them you're sorry.
The aliens in Independence Day(1996) blew him up!
My Mother in Law was a Nurse in a TB hospital. She had to deal with the female villagers after American troops were finished with them. I won't repeat any of what she shared with me. But,do any of these veterans talk about it?
Terrible, just terrible
I remember seeing A Bronx Tale and wondering how he got special thanks in the end credits.
While I agree that Smedley Butler was a great man, he however was only awarded 2 CMOHs
Blame the politicians. Exactly! Politicians suck
ALL of them!!!
Wow what an idea. Have the politicians that vote for war children serve first.
He's as wise as Jack Arnold.
Wonder yeara dad and I always think of him when I see Helgas.dad on hey Arnold
I wonder if he met R Lee Ermey
I don't know if the top echelon in the 21st century military CAN operate independently of politics.
Nope.
dan was a liberal marine
surprised he didn't run off to toronto
