This is by far my biggest unboxing yet on this channel and I am very excited to show you my collection. I have been collecting ice creams for at least 5 years now and this is just the start to what I have been able to collect. I have always been heavily influenced by music and skateboarding culture as I’ve grown up and Ice Cream is the perfect example of the two coming together to make a fashionable skateboarding shoe. There were a lot of different shoes being worn in the skating community in the late 2000’s, but Pharrell made Ice Creams. These shoes are most iconically known for the bright colors and unique designs like the “Diamonds & Dollars” being printed all over the shoe. Ice Cream was being produced by Reebok, which was a very popular brand for artists collaborate with at the time. Other artists who had collaborations with Reebok are 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Kanye, Jadakiss, Swizz Beats and even Nelly! You thought Nelly was more of an Air Force One guy huh? He was actually signed to REEBOK when he made the song Air Force Ones. Reebok wasn’t too happy about that, so they made the Derrty One which was a Reebok Remake of the Air Force One. That didn’t last very long before Nelly was back with Nike rocking some Air Forces Again. But Reebok was collaborating with artists back before anyone else was willing to. Nowadays it’s a lot more common for someone to get a shoe deal compared to back in the late 2000’s. It was a different time in the world of shoes and signing a deal with a brand. Reebok was becoming a lot more popular because they were willing to let the artist, actually make or have a hand in designing a shoe. Which made them more liked by consumers because the artist they like, were designing a shoe with a brand they may or may not have liked. Even if they didn’t like the shoe, they love the artist so they will support it. But that’s not always the case. As I’ve heard, not a lot of people weren’t rocking with Ice Creams when they first came out and they ended up sitting on sales racks at skate shops. Most pairs either ended up getting skated in or stuck in your local thrift shop until the right collector came along. I’m a collector, but I do also wear them. I can understand not wearing a pair you would consider a “Grail” sneaker, but recently I’ve realized, why spend all this money to look at a shoe? A shoe is meant to be worn and if I died today I would hate to have a last thought like, I should have worn those ____😪😮‍💨 so I highly recommend you wear your shoes people. Don’t just look at them. Unless the shoe is irreplaceable, it can be worn and replaced. Some of these shoes I don’t know if I will ever see again online. I’m sure theres a few you could find maybe. But I can guarantee there’s a few pairs here I will never see online in my size again.
Well this as been another episode of unboxing with Preston, I hope you enjoyed my collection and I hope to see you again sometime soon!
