I have used a stamp to get perfect designs! As for writing I use my edible ink pen and sketch out my lettering (or designs) and pipe over the impressions. Another way to get perfect lettering is to print out the words or designs and use it under parchment paper to trace on. I find these methods to be very useful! Thank you Jemma for your fantastic decorating tips, tricks and ALL your wonderful and yummy recipes ❤️
Maybe it's my weird brain but I found watching the words being piped quite calming. I used to get flustered when I tried to pipe icing so my brother sent me on a decorative piping class for a Christmas present. It was just one lesson but it was really helpful. We didn't learn about writing though so this lovely video has been very helpful!
I am piping for the first time today, and I've watched dozens of videos this week to learn how to pipe letters with royal icing, and by far this has been the most helpful! Thank you!
I remember royal icing writing being one of the first videos you put out for Food Tube, and I was already amazed by the skills you displayed in that video. Not only did you revisit the topic years later, you even went more in-depth and provided more tips, and I really appreciate this dedication of yours! You explain the techniques so thoroughly that it gives me the confidence to try it myself! Jemma you’ll always be my favorite baker on RUclips!
This was so helpful, Jemma! I've done my first practice run yesterday. My icing was a bit too stiff, but your tips made sure I managed to get some cursive writing done within 20-30 minutes of drawing my first ever line of icing. Managed some lovely snow crystal designs too, which is exactly what I'll need for the Xmas cake I'm making next week. I know this is an oldie, and you're not going to read my comment, but I wanted to thank you anyway!
Please When is the right time to add eggwhite if you are using normal eggwhite? How many pieces of egg is ok for the powdered sugar you used? I can't get hold of powdered eggwhite.
@@jenniferogochukwu6886 Crack an egg into a bowl, and put the egg white into a bowl, and whip it until soft peaks. Then add icing sugar until a stiff enough consistency is made.
I just piped cupcakes, it is Nutella cupcakes with Nutella buttercream and it turned out amazing. I just use some of her vids to help me pipe, she’s GREAT. FOLLOW HER AND LOVE HER. ❤️
This is awesome! As are you! I've tried my hand at royal icing on sugar cookies before and now I know what I was doing wrong! Can't wait to try these tips out next time! Thank you so much! ❤❤❤
Thank you my dear Jemma, I'm a big fan of yours.I use your fabulous recipes and techniques for whatever I bake for my family and guests and they always turn out great. Love from Iran
Thank you so much uploading this kind of movie. I was always searching for the tutorial of icing decoration. This is the one!! Jemma is lovely person!!!
Jemma, I love your videos! You inspire me every week to bake something tasty for my work buddies. I live in America, but am coming to Europe for a backpacking extravaganza in a few weeks and my first stop is London!! Visiting your bakery is on the top of my bucket list, and my #1 to do while I'm in your wonderful city. Can't wait to see where the magic happens :))
Jonathan Lively please be prepared to be shocked! I went last week and the shop is only about 6 seats and the staff said she is only there on Thursday, not sure if that is true though!
Wow! I had no idea! These are all great tips! My kiddos birthdays aren’t until February (2 of them) and March, I always used just the icing I used for the cake. My mind is blown!
Really useful video, thank you. - I have to brag, I made my own gel organic colours - orange, red, blue, green and olive green, purple and black. I love your sprinkle and colours shelfs, Jemma. PS. I put plastic ties on ends on bags so I don't worry it going out, because it did big time first few times... 🤣
Hey Jemma, I hope my comment doesn't get lost in a sea of comments. I love videos like these because they are so informative!! My parents 25th anniversary is this December and I'd really like to bake them a somewhat fancy 2 or 3 tiered cake. I've learnt royal icing, how to place two tier cake and even how to layer fondant but I'd really, really love if you could do a fondant recipe too. Thank you so much for the lovely content you post. My family absolutely loves your cakes. :)
Really appreciated this video ~ I make specialized cookies for my business, typically 150 - 200 and not ONE looks like another, so I watched your technique with great intensity. Would appreciate a video where I can see how you stabilize your hand, or elbow, or whatever helps you stay steady.
Well done. It was the easiest way to make icing , but to use it as well. Thanks so much . I am going to decorate my x/mass biscuits this year , your way. Thank you so much for all the tips. Have a wonderful Christmas and ever better New Year.
I really want to create a cake shop like yours in my country, so I'll reach out to you there someday. You're inspiring me to pursue an enduring passion.
Hello ma'am jemma.. I love watching your tutorials. Coz I'll be grateful to have those Equipment etc.. I love to try making cupcakes soon especially nowadays that due to pandemic it's so hard to look for new job..i came from Philippines ma'am . Thanks ma'am God bless and more power. 😘😘
JEMMAAAA!! Please come to India!! I’ve learned sooooo much, because of you and your videos. Love your quirky and fun way of making videos and how you talk to us. Love your merch, but I really wish to visit C&D once and meet you. A lot of the ingredients aren’t that easily available here in India. Could you please link some websites? Thanks a ton. ❤️
hey Gemma 💕💕 can you pls show how to make these sugar plaques, i'm a beginner so don't have any idea, and I really like the way you explain each and everything. Can you please make a video for these?
I've heard some say that a little glycerine added to royal icing will make it set hard on top, but soft underneath, making it more palatable; however I've also heard others say that glycerine will ruin your royal icing and it wont set up at all - gawd, which is true? I'd love to know, Jemma! PS I'm in love with your merch, dude!
You got your mixer bowl on so easily! I am always fiddling around trying to get mine clicked in. Not a fan of my larger kitchenaide, much prefer my smaller one that twists on to the base and hinges 😫. Love your clips though, thank you xx
Guys never forget the crucial "doink" at the end of your string line! Lol... It's just not the same without it!❤️ only 2 bakers,I mean pastry queens I watch, cupcake jenny over here and the scran line!❤️👑❤️
Don’t forget you can always print off a stencil, throw it under that grease proof paper. Pipe it, let it dry and peel it off to place. Also; finally you addressed your 18 different names! 🤣 sometimes iPhone does autocorrect to Jenna instead though 🤬
Your piping techniques reminds me of my Henna tattoo art tips. I look forward to giving this a try. Btw, your tattoos look awesome. Thanks for sharing 🤗
I feel like Jemma could make pouring cereal look like art. She's magical.
Jessica Krebs I know! It would still be a lovely, chatty and happy video.
