Henry Ford had a saying, whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.
Pretty sure Caitlyn lives by the motto, I think I can.
Another great how to video for us mere mortals.
Thanks for sharing and have a great week.

So nice to see a much more subtle and small scale piece of work. I appreciate the simplicity of the design and how instructional the process is. Do you find it relaxing or are you still throwing the odd tool?

Something like this is very relaxing. Not a lot of detail, so smooth sailing.

You make it look very easy, I have a feeling when I have a go it’s not going to turn out as good as your work 😅 great video as normal thanks for sharing from over the pond in the Uk. Cheers 👍

Looking good! It sucks when you get a big deep tare in the wood when the grain changes direction!

Beautiful work as always. My attempts at woodcarving alway left me cursing. I actually enjoy working with limestone much better. You have no worry of fighting the patterns in the material.

Once you learn to navigate the wood grain that’s half the battle.

Wow, you are so versatile! Whether you're using a tablesaw, a chainsaw, or hand chisels, you make it look easy.
Thumbs up, and thanks for sharing your work and techniques with us!

Nice! It's looking great already. When I attach a piece of wood to the back of something I'm carving so I can clamp it in a vise, I use a square block. That way it's faster to un-clamp it, rotate it 90° and re-clamp it.

Another great video, this was very interesting as I have never had a go at wood carving but like most woodworkers I would love to try it, I am sure it’s not as easy as you make it look but at least you give an idea how to start with a project like this, I will look forward to the next instalment 👌👌👌👍👍👍🇦🇺

Looks like Chicks and Hens from my neighbor's yard! I have a portable projector that I can project art/photos on a surface to trace-sure its not cheaper than carbon paper, but it skips printing and photoshop. Note there are many apps that allow tile printing in the printer settings, for free. Like Acrobat reader, you can convert the image into a pdf and tile it up to the size you want. Since you are tracing it, it need not be color-save ink and toner. If you want less expensive image app for Mac, Affinity Photo is adequate. Some prefer the free GIMP program (Win/Mac/Linux). And messing with filters, you can create just outlines. Great work there Kate! Any recommended beginner carving tools?

I have an older projector I’ve used for pattern tracing. Problem is it only works on a very old laptop and firing them both up can be a pain. But agreed that way works great. No great recommendations other then those chisels. And that’s not much of a recommendation as much as a cost effective entry level tool.

Am I the only one who sees Baloo the Bear in the picture in the background? And then I'm thinking... how appropriate and break out singing, Bare Necessities. JUST ME?
