    Hi Chiseled,
Great videos! Your perspectives are very good and the descriptions are also excellent. I just watched part 1 and 2 of this sailboat video and they are very good. I too am a self taught carver and I love to do marine animals. I do have one suggestion which is not a criticism. I would use a set of scrapers to help smooth during carving and not use sandpaper until you are done with using all of your chisels , gouges etc. Left over grit from the sandpaper is not good for the cutting surface of your tools. Keep up the great work.
    Thanks

Thank you I’m glad you like the videos! I appreciate the helpful tip too. I had no idea that the sanding dust was harmful to my gouges. I’ll make sure to be careful with that going forward! Thanks again!

Hey man! Another very useful video... Thanks! I recently made a carving table, now working on my bench dog situation. Would you mind somehow showing me yours? Just a picture or 2 to let me see the construction & function. I like to make any tool or equipment I can, for fun & experience, cost & to make the hidden hippy in me think we're saving the planet. It keeps him off my back about all the tree killing I contribute to. Thanks again! Joking aside, your stuff has been helping me for a couple years now. Your ability to instruct is as effective as your skill & creativity. That's not a typical viewer lead-up to pointing out a mistake, like the bird on the left isn't the right species, or maybe he's lonely. Cheers!

Awesome! Part 2 will be out soon. Honestly I am not that good at drawing. I practice though because I know it's an important skill to develop for woodcarving.

Love the videos and your work. Just a suggestion it would be nice to mount your camera overhead so we can see how you are making your cuts because your hands block everything, just my 2 cents.

Thanks! And yes I definitely agree with you. I’m making sure in the upcoming parts that I edit those shots out more. I’ll have to work on an overhead view too. My setup currently isn’t capable of that but I’ll try to figure it out.

Personally I don’t think it’s a huge deal, but if you’re going to want to be able to show everything without your hands blocking, you’ll probably have to shoot 2-3 different angles at once. A c-stand or two would help, but not sure if you have access to multiple cameras (dslr, phone, go pro, etc). Even with multiple angles it’s going to be hard to capture everything.

@@halflingcarvings Agreed ! for people that are new to carving I'm just saying it would be nice if they could see a little better of what he's doing. I myself am a carver and know what cuts he is doing. But it can get expensive getting different cameras to set up every angle. Imo.
