Finding black powder in my area is all but impossible. Pyrodex is seen in a few shops occasionally. A few years ago, I began working with American Pioneer Powder. Thought it's FFF listed powder resembles FF in granulation, it performs very well. And it requires no lubrication, as it creates it's own lubrication when fired. In fact, during the great powder famine about 10 years ago, I was loading 38Spl and 45-70 with it with great results when I ran out of smokeless powder. It's a volume to volume system like Pyrodex, and meters well in my ancient loading gear. My old Ideal No.5 powder measure was great for loading in that I simply set it to the Black powder mark and it was perfect. Good powder! But it does need BP to ignite in a flintlock pan.😏
I have used it and the 2f look got me off of it cause we have powder and pyrodex. But it went bang everytime so I wouldn’t hesitate if need be! Keep on shooting!!! Thanks

Good test, where I live Pyrodex P is a lot easier to come by. Both powders were pretty close in performance and both had good fps.
Yea. It’s almost flip a coin. I shoot mostly pyrodex but a fair amount of Swiss too
Have enjoyed the comparison tests but you have to admit the consistency of the pyrodex shots were admirable, I think giving it an edge that should also be taken into consideration
I agree. Pyrodex does seem to be more consistent shot to shot … across all revolvers.
From your previous test of pyrodex against goex 20 grains were used. I was amazed that on this one 25 grains nearly doubled the velocity on the pyrodex.
Me too. I’ll do it again at some point to check but I dhot it 3 times that day and the results held.
Great video. Those velocites where getting up around magnum speeds,at lease around 9 millimeter!!
Yes! The 25 grains in 61 navy is about the full load.

This is a Test I would like to see. Since my source for both has 777 about $15 more per pound than Pyrodex. I wonder why.

Love these T/E's so much, so I have to mention the Idahoain he did Pyrodex RS vs Pyrodex P vs Pyrodex Select. Now, from a rifle, I will say results left me in the Pyrodex P no matter what kind of firearm I am shooting

Edit, post video: closer then i thought. Wow, good test regardless, i agree thats really too close to call definitively for sure. Only an average difference of like 28 FPS.

Càn you recommend a cheap but accurate chronograph machine? I make my own powder with an additional acroid gum powder and I don't don't granulate the powder which doesn't seem to make a difference but with my powder and a . 375 ball in my Spiller and Burr has the impact and recoil similar to a 38 to . 357 depending on powder load. Deadly àccurate too need to chrono it to find fps but penetration in dense wet wood is amazing. And no don't try this at home without bench testing and protection
I found one on Amazon that works well for like 30$ I think. Less than 50 anyhow. Sounds great.

Out here in Aurora CO it's impossible to find real BP. The sources on the internet are sketchy. I guess I need to join a BP club.
