  • #vraywater #vraynextforsketchup #realisticwaterrender #vraysettingsIn this video I teach you how to create the most realistic water material with a caustic method using Vray Next for Sketchup. Caustics are what add the realistic light effect on reflective surfaces such as glass, water, gems, etc. Do leave a like if you found this very helpful, and share to anyone that you feel it may also help. Hi, Thanks a lot for the Tutorial. I'm Using the newest version of VRAY 6.20.01 and under the global illumination settings there is no option for Photo mapped caustics, what is the alternative, please?

    • @ikrenders
      @ikrenders  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Gideon, you're welcome. I'm still using version 6.10. It may be there, but for CPU rendering not GPU, vray sometimes doesn't allow sole settings for GPU rendering
      Try to switch to CPU rendering and check if its there. I'll soon join you on the latest version 😉. Cheers!

    Displacement doesn't seem to work in Vray5.2, it says it's legacy and it isn't able to put a preview, and also it is required to use some displacement geometry modifier... so i can't make pool water even close to photorealistic.

      Hi!
      Displacement works in vray 5.2. The trick is to apply it to a group and also re render the frame buffer for up to date effects

    Hello, thank you for your tutorial! I think I have some general camera issues because i need my dome instensity to stay on 1 and even then i'm having a lot of lightburns. could you share your camera settings? thank you so much!

    • @ikrenders
      @ikrenders  3 года назад

      You're Welcome Lambert. I'm glad the tutorial helped you. As for your dome intensity issues, getting light burns is pretty normal. i use an exposure value of 11 which gives me a lot of light burn which I reduce with the V-ray frame buffer exposure slider. I'll look into making a video for that to explain better. I hope this helps! :)

    How do you apply a background HDRI to use for the background while using the HDRI for pool.. Sorry, I am still quite new to VRay

      Hey shawn,
      I'd have to refer to a tutorial I have on using HDRIs. It'll explain more in depth to the topic.

      Hi Charity. Are you making use of an Hdri or the Vray Sun?

    my displacement is not working,even dispalcement in switches is on,nothing shows when i start rendering,but when I use bump ,selct noise then it shows,but after that the caustics doesn't work ,why is this happening ?

    • @ikrenders
      @ikrenders  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jennifer. Displacement in Vray for sketchup only works on 'grouped' faces or components in your model. In my Bumps and Displacement tutorial I spoke alot about that. Video in in my materials playlist. I Hope this helps👍🏾🙂

    How to make material
    waves
    and foam?

    • @ikrenders
      @ikrenders  4 года назад

      Unfortunately only 3dsmax can produce that realistic motion like wave feature. As for foam you'd need post production.
