The thing that make Ball Pythons so addicting is all the cool genes and morphs. Every time I watch Chris’s videos, I write down another morph that I want to get! I have 6 females now and one pied male, but I’m taking my time deciding on what genes I want in a male to breed them to- but that list keeps changing- LOL

I know there are breeders who breed a lot more snakes than Chris there are breeders who are basically light years ahead of him in the gene pool also but all along my ball python breeding journey Chris has been the most helpful ball python you tuber and even tho he doesn’t have the largest or most lavish collection I still look more forward to his videos than anyone’s his videos are perfect very simple yet all the info you need and more I feel like Chris will go along way with something that was just a side project originally he’s just boringly interesting idk exactly how to explain it but he’s the man I really see Chris being very successful for a long time to come and I can’t wait for all the egg and hatching videos lucky for Chris there are tons of morphs to talk about bc his egg season is running late lol you’re the man Chris keep on keeping on you’re very inspirational

Hi my name is greg and I'm an addict... its been.. 2 hours since my last ball python purchase. 24 hours before that. 1 month before that. 3 months before that.. idk what to do about it. And Chris..? You did this to me!!! Thank you! Lol. But seriously now. I liked your comment you said in another video about it being art. It's a beautiful thing you got me in. Cant wait to see what you hatch this year. I dont know if I missed a video but I was wondering what your doing with bamboo this year.

I'm breeding my Calico Bamboo to some lemonblasts and pinstripes, should get some interesting stuff. I had the same addiction, I think it goes away after your first big breeding season when you end up with over a hundred hatchlings. At least the obsession slows down a bit LOL.

Great video with some awesome looking combos! I have 2 boas, a Sunglow het blood and a hypo dh albino blood that I'll be breeding in a couple years and I've been thinking about getting into ball pythons after boas first litter. Your videos definitely help with decision making when it comes to all of the different genes. 🤘👍🤙

it seems like the best way to have conversations with you is to make a comment on your never video so you get a new alert. I hope you are having a good night.
so to reply to your last reply to me on your last video. Yeah, reproducing a allelic combinations, supers, and recessives is more costly because it requires 2 snakes with relatively the same genes. it doubles the cost of the project, or in some cases triples the cost when you are aiming to add a new allelic, super, or recessive gene into the combination.
I brought up ultramel in corn snakes, in my last comment. it is an allelic combination with amelonistic (classic albino) and Ultra(a Hypo-ish type of morph). Ultramel is often seen Caramel to form the Golddust morph combination. Most of the time the way breeders make golddusts is by breeding a butter to a golddust, and that produces 50% butters and 50% Golddust.
If you look at all corn snakes ever posted to morph market you will find that their has only been a few ultra corn snakes that were not in the ultramel combo. My big breeding goal is to breed a sundust corn snake witch is goldust + one more recessive gene, Sunkissed. This should not be a hard target to hit since Sunkissed + caramel (honey) is already a popular morph.
Right now I am on the hunt for a Ultra Caramel Het Sunkissed corn snake, or just a Sundust corn snake.
Sundust is a 6 gene combination, and every one is recessive. 2 copies for sunkissed. 2 copies for caramel. 1 for ultra, and 1 for amel.
The golddust morph does seem to have a quirk to it. since the first golddust corn snake produced was also a motley, almost half of the goldust corn snakes are motley or het motley.
with corn snakes almost all of the genes are recessives. some say a few of them have markers, but it is nothing you can really count on. I don't really see hitting multi gene combos as hard, but more as expensive since it will talk many more snakes to work a new gene into a combo.
I think there is a lessen to be learned from the corn snake breeders. sure an adult corn snake can have 20 eggs, but often we can get 1/4 of those eggs to be what we are aiming for, and still hit a perfect balance of nonnormal offspring with the other 3/4ths of the hatchlings, vs Breeding 1 male corn snake that has 4 genes that are dominate or codominate, to 3 females that only produce 8 eggs each, and needing 2 years to get that 1/16 chance.
It may be more expensive to get non normal females, but the supers on ball pythons are often 3 times the cost of the single genes, and 50% will still be that single gene.
I understand that corn snakes are so much easier to breed, quicker to grow, and have many times as many eggs then ball pythons, so maybe I am just looking at this in a way that is reliant on these factors.

Interesting! When moving from ball pythons to other snakes like boas or corn snakes the genetics completely changes as far as the names of genes and the number of morphs. You should start a corn snake RUclips channel that focuses on genetics!

This is a run on about my BP with a concern at the bottom. This video really helped with learning why my visual BP looks the way she does. She's got Banana Super Enchi Superstripe and Her dad was Super Citrus Pastel Lesser Fire. Both were massive.
Her color has 0 spots, fades from golden to vanilla to a clear belly with almost completely faded super enchi/Sstripe that will probably nearly disappear with age. Only way you can tell she's in shed is when her blue/green eyes turn navy blue. She's so pretty lol.
Once she struck at my face and hit my cheek bone but thankfully opted not to open her mouth, idk why. I've also had to clean out her pits after she shoved her poo into a corner...she came to me with a super tiny gash in her bottom lip. Can't tell if she was born like that or if it's mouth rot. Several months and it hasn't closed or grown at all, but does get kinda dirt and her top lip covers it. I'm worried though. There's slight striations on the corners of her mouth. Any pro tips on mouth rot? I've exhausted Google.

Great vid, but I think you’re getting ‘genetic black back’ confused with enchi. In that a ‘genetic black back’ looks like an enchi but without the color change. Most enchi look like pastels with reduced patterns. Really good lines of enchi really hold their lighter color.

What makes one snake more powerful over another one of the exact same genes? What really determines the price tag on the snake?

    • @ChrisHardwickanimaladventures
      @ChrisHardwickanimaladventures  4 года назад

I think a lot of genes have different lines that are not specified or separated, so with the same genes you can have big differences in appearance. It's pretty much supply and demand that drives prices.

  • @dexterlecter7289

Enchi browns out enough on its own. Adding clown would ensure an ugly adult BP. Clown is the quickest way to ruin a combo, coincidentally it’s also one of the more expensive ways. Literally and figuratively in this case. Hash tag no more brown clown.
