Prof. Plum: "What are you afraid of, a fate worse than death? Mrs. Peacock: "No, just death, isn't that enough?” So many great lines. Plus the physical comedy. Tim Curry and Madeline Kahn knock it out of the park, but every actor in this has great moments. Incredible ensemble. Great reaction, clearly enjoying the ride that is Clue!
I think the funniest bit for me is when you see all the characters having trouble getting through doors and hallways at the same time, because in the board game, you couldn't move your piece onto an occupied space :P
I absolutely adore this movie, it’s a comfort watch for me. My personal favorite cast member is Martin Mull. If you know his history then his approach to his jokes and lines become more silly and interesting. He toured with Steve Martin in the 70s, produced his own comedy albums, and attended RISD (an excellent private art school.) He is a contemporary artist of hyper realism paintings, and a lifelong musician. His introduction and the very first shot of his character is Colonial Mustard, “yanking a (your) chain.” Brilliantly silly and yet somehow still the straight man. Just a wonderful and completely amazing cast throughout. Thank you for watching it! ❤️😊🍿
I love the fact that she keeps saying Christopher Lloyd is so young when this came out just 1 year before Back to the Future in which people always say he looks so old.
The six screen theater complex that I saw Clue at had each ending on a different screen. Each day they moved the reels so if you went back to see a different ending you may or may not get an ending you had already seen. The chaos was the fun.
Yay! I get to share my favorite piece of Clue trivia: The layout of the house (real building exterior, interior set) is the same as the original board game - including which rooms are connected by the secret passages!
I've watched this more times than I can keep track of. I have it entirely memorized. There was a couple years in college after my radio was stolen, when on a long drive I would just act out the whole movie. (that and The Princess Bride and The Sound of Music)
I’ve been watching this movie since I was a kid. It’s fun and nostalgic for me. I’m thrilled it’s getting watched by more reactors. It’s so much fun watching their reactions, especially when it says “That’s what could have happened.” The two of you might like LA Story with Steve Martin. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels also with Steve Martin My Blue Heaven They are relatively older movies but childhood favorites. Steve Martin is in all of them. 😅
Trivia time-if you go to a Ren Faire a lot of the ladies will wear low cut push up dresses. They are called “Pudding Cups “ by the people who go and dress up. This is another movie that didn’t do well in the theater but is going to live forever in the after market with fans.
When you bought your ticket to see this movie you'd get a letter A, B or C so you'd know which ending you were seeing. Having the different endings was a great marketing ploy. You'd want to go to different theaters to see the different endings. Eventually they combined the endings to what you saw for this reaction. Great seeing your reaction to this fun movie!
This is a childhood favorite, even as a kid. I appreciate all that this film has to offer: the cast, script, gags, everything. I'm a fan of the board game, so naturally I gravitated towards this film. I showed it to friends and family over the years as a lot of people I knew never saw this. It may have done poor in theaters but it has gained that legendary cult following. I hope Hollywood leaves this one alone. Really enjoyed your review, well done. "I'M NOT SHOUTING! Alright I am, I'M SHOUTING, I'M SHOUTING, I'M SHOUTING, I'M SHOUT...*thunk*" 😂😂😂
Madeline Kahn didn't forget her lines, she was allowed to ad-lib. The other actors obviously didn't know what was coming so their reactions are genuine.
i watched this as a teenager one christmas and loved it and have watched it every christmas since one of my all time fave movies and board games thank you for reacting to it :)
The matchstick scene in the kitchen should be taught in acting classes. Every actor in that scene is 100% present. They act and react within the other characters so beautifully. You could dissect the whole thing for hours with how each and every one of them handled themselves there. Gorgeous.
My friends and I performed in a shadowcast of RHPS in the 90's and on Halloween there was a special performance of Clue (with my bff playing Yvette). I still remember some of the callbacks to Clue and I mentally repeat them almost reflexively every time I see the movie. Good times.
One of the funniest dark mystery movies ever made! Based on the Parker Bros. Board Game. The scene where Madeline Kahn forgetting her lines was hilarious! "I hated her, so..much, flfflflf flames, flames on the sides of my face, breathes, heaving breaths, heaving breaths...." Lol!!
@@charleslee8313 yes ad-libbed. it's the only part where someone stutters, & director Jonathan Lynn was like, "I let her improvise, then wanted her to do the original line, but was like, It's too funny. It's staying in. you don't have to do the original line!"
Another murder mystery spoof worth checking out is Murder by Death also with a great cast including David Niven, Maggie Smith, Peter Sellers and Peter Falk.
Fun reaction. Such a great cast. I also recommend “Murder By Death,” a similar spoof of famous detectives with a murder in an old mansion. It also stars Eileen Brennan and an all-star cast led by Peter Sellers, Maggie Smith, David Niven, Peter Falk, James Cromwell and several others. Not as slapstick as “Clue,” but a hilarious screenplay by Neil Simon.
The Maid: But it is dark upstairs and I am frightened of the dark. Will anyone go with me? Professor Plum: I will. Colonel Mustard: I will. Mr. Green: No thank you. Absolutely perfectly delivered. 🤣
This is one of my favorite movies ever! Its so fun and has so many great one liners! I highly recommend What We Do In The Shadows (2014) It has the same kind of fun watch aspect with lots of funny one liners. Its a mocumentary about Vampires who are roommates and have to deal with every day life stuff like who will do the dishes.
This was wonderful! And thank you for letting me know of a film I'd never heard of that stars both Lesley Ann Warren AND Whoopi Goldberg! Definitely looking up Burglar right now.
Have you seen Murder By Death which would be an influence on this film. Also, a younger Eileen Brennan (Mrs. Peacock) plays here along with a marvelous cast including Peter Sellers, Alec Guinness, Maggie Smith, Peter Falk...
I was about in 4th or 5th grade when this was released on vhs. I saw it at my after-school childcare of all places and loved it so much. All us kids used to act it out. 😅 I begged for it for Christmas and got it…. And proceeded to watch it so much and quote along with it so much that my parents put it up on a molding above the bedroom door for months (where all the items we were “grounded” from would wind up). I eventually got it back and at 45 still have that old vhs.
It’s funny that people say he looks young because he hadn’t actually been particularly young during any of his movie career, which started in 1975 (when he was 37). Well, I guess it’s all relative. It’s impressive how much of a difference some costuming can make.
I saw this movie at age 9, and strangely I happened to get most of the jokes. And it was a joke a minute. I was already in love with the board game that I didn't know how to play very well, but I loved a good murder mystery. So, after my first time seeing it, I watched it another 90 times in my youth over the years. A true masterpiece of comedy. Sadly, for some modern viewers, some of it may not have aged well. Some people are very touchy over a lot these days, well, more like "touched". Yes, it might be wrong, but in this movie - for all intents and purposes - it's funny.
My all time favorite movie. Love that you two enjoyed it. There is a fantasy movie with Tom Cruise called Legend and Tim Curry plays Darkness (devil). It’s an ok movie but worth the watch for Mr. Curry’s performance. Also the makeup/prosthetics on him are amazing.
The reviews were SO bad when it was new that my mom wouldn't take me to see it in the theater. Then it came out on video and I rented it SO many times I lost count. Thanks to us OG Clue fans, there are thousands, maybe millions of VHS tapes still out there that are totally worn out at the "singing telegram" spot
The thing I remember most about this movie, is that when my grandparents bought their first vcr we all went to the video rental shop and picked a movie to watch together. I picked this, and my mum promptly told everyone that is was rubbish and not worth watching. As a result, the video sat unwatched till it was returned a week later.
I actually saw this in the theater as a kid and we got the 2nd ending. It didn't do too well in theaters, but definitely gained a following from VHS rentals and frequent repetition on cable. I feel like Madeline Kahn and Christopher Lloyd were underused a little, but this is still my favorite Tim Curry performance. Side note: Lee Ving as Mr. Body is interesting casting. As an old 80s skate punk I'll still blast some old FEAR now and then.
A funny bit of casting, as his character was the first we knew would not be Lee Ving the house alive. I think I might still have a FEAR sticker around here somewhere. I had meant to put it on a board, but never did. Also worth noting that he’s one of two cast members who were primarily musicians.
When I saw that you were watching Clue me, I got so happy. This is one of my favorite movies. I must have seen it over 100 times. I have the clue app on my phone
The TV show Phych did an episode like this even had Martin Mull in it. Still a great movie love Madeline Kahn. This was the second movie I saw her in. The first being High Anxiety third being Young Frankenstein.
This is one of my favorite movies. I even made a one person recreation of this movie a few years ago, with added silly scenes. Such as Tim having a split personality/aka Pennywise the clown he later played, and Wadsworth was also Frank-N-Furter, and the motorist I name Brad. While Mrs. White's first husband was "Old Zipperneck" from Young Frankenstein. Peacock also dated an archaeologist named Jones, before marrying the senator, as if she is Willy Scott from "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom", explaining the monkey's brains reference. I tried to sprinkle little moments like that through the "Review, Reactions & Recreations", while recreating all my favorite scenes. I mention the additional 4th ending, but there is an animated version of the 4th ending on the documentary "Who Done It: The Clue Documentary". It is pretty good, and even shows the director buying the matte paintings that were used in the film.
I got to say I just loved all of the over dramatic acting in this movie and then a lot of the scenarios the characters are put in are just so ridiculously over the top but it's so funny you can't help but be entertained by it first time I saw this movie I was absolutely Blown Away
PLEASE react to *Escape To Victory* with *Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine, Max Von Sydow* and *“King” Pelé,* set in WWII but it’s NOT a war movie, also *Flashback* with *Kiefer Sutherland* and *Dennis Hopper; Michael McKean* was a small part too, and finally *Powder* with *Sean Patrick Flanery, Jeff Goldblum* and *Mary Steenburgen.* NO ONE has reacted to these and I think you’d find them entertaining.
You guys should watch What's up doc? Also starting Kahn with Barbra streisand and Ryan O'neal, she's hilarious in that one too. It is an homage to the old screwball comedies with a modern twist, it's absolutly funny.
Sorry to be pedantic but this is the theatrical style of Farce - it's not plot driven. There's no discernable solution. Just craziness and innuendo. Check out Murder By Death for the original, star-studded version of the genre.
the idea to turn Clue into a movie came from John Cleese; he wrote a script & was going to play the butler, but when director Jonathan Lynn came aboard, he & John Landis wrote a whole new script & Lynn wrote the part of Wadsworth for his high school friend Tim Curry

Amazing cast overall, but RIP Madeline Kahn. One of the funniest people ever for me, still makes me laugh until I start crying. FLAMES!
also RIP Kellye Nakahara the cook.....who was also nurse Kellye on MASH for her 167 episodes of it.
I absolutely adore this movie, it’s a comfort watch for me. My personal favorite cast member is Martin Mull. Everyone says Christopher Lloyd looks so young in this, but this came out the same year as Back to the Future.
Fun Fact: The Singing Telegram Girl was played by Jane Wiedlin from the band "The Go-Go's"
I love the fact that she keeps saying Christopher Lloyd is so young when this came out just 1 year before Back to the Future in which people always say he looks so old.

Tim Curry was obviously enjoying himself in this role.😂
Go back even further to the 70s with Murder by Death. You’ll both enjoy I think. Eileen Brennan is in that one too.
I've watched this more times than I can keep track of. I have it entirely memorized. There was a couple years in college after my radio was stolen, when on a long drive I would just act out the whole movie. (that and The Princess Bride and The Sound of Music)
Lee Ving from the band FEAR as Mr. Body was a bold choice.
Mustard: Just checking.
Peacock: Everything alright?
Mustard: Yep. Two corpses. Everything's fine.
"This is a free country, don't you know that?"
"I didn't know it was _that_ free"
Still one of my favorite lines.
I’ve been watching this movie since I was a kid. It’s fun and nostalgic for me. I’m thrilled it’s getting watched by more reactors. It’s so much fun watching their reactions, especially when it says
“That’s what could have happened.”
The two of you might like LA Story with Steve Martin.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels also with Steve Martin
My Blue Heaven
They are relatively older movies but childhood favorites.
Steve Martin is in all of them. 😅
I feel that the first ending was the most logical.
When it comes to Tim Curry films, I think of this movie more than *Rocky Horror*
Trivia time-if you go to a Ren Faire a lot of the ladies will wear low cut push up dresses. They are called “Pudding Cups “ by the people who go and dress up. This is another movie that didn’t do well in the theater but is going to live forever in the after market with fans.
I ❤ ❤ ❤ Michael McKean! He is great in everything he's in. I especially like him in the Christopher Guest movies.
If you love Lesley Ann Warren, you two MUST watch one of the greatest movie musicals ever, Victor Victoria.
Always a great rewatch and I really love the actual solution. Wonderful cast chemistry and timing.
This is a childhood favorite, even as a kid. I appreciate all that this film has to offer: the cast, script, gags, everything. "I'M NOT SHOUTING! Alright I am, I'M SHOUTING, I'M SHOUTING, I'M SHOUTING, I'M SHOUT...*thunk*" 😂😂😂
A movie was made based on Battleship too but this film is way better.
What an unexpected [and delightful] addition to my Sunday night YT feed!
Madeline Kahn didn't forget her lines, she was allowed to ad-lib. The other actors obviously didn't know what was coming so their reactions are genuine.
The cook played Kelly, a nurse on M A S H. Colleen Camp, the maid, was in the POLICE ACADEMY movies.
i watched this as a teenager one christmas and loved it and have watched it every christmas since one of my all time fave movies and board games thank you for reacting to it :)
One of my favourite films of all time! So glad you covered it! Always watch it on a double bill with Rocky Horror on Halloween.
The matchstick scene in the kitchen should be taught in acting classes. Every actor in that scene is 100% present. They act and react within the other characters so beautifully. You could dissect the whole thing for hours with how each and every one of them handled themselves there. Gorgeous.

I don't think she forgot her lines -- I think it was ad-lib. You can see the actors behind her trying not to laugh.
@@charleslee8313 yes ad-libbed.

& director Jonathan Lynn was like,

It is appropriate that the Butler did it. LOL

I second that, some of the jokes may not be well received today but it was a great movie and Peter Sellers was amazing as always.
I've loved Clue and really enjoyed Murder by Death. But yeah, the yellow face is cringe.
The Maid: But it is dark upstairs and I am frightened of the dark. Will anyone go with me?
Professor Plum: I will.
Colonel Mustard: I will.
Mr. Green: No thank you.
Absolutely perfectly delivered.
🤣
This movie was absolutely brilliant, lol.
Thanks for watching :)
Two fun facts you forgot to mention. the house is a set. And all the cars in the film as they are pulling up are the characters colors from the game
My favorite movie! To this day if anyone says to make a long story short I always reply too late! Love it!!!
This is one of my favorite movies ever! Its so fun and has so many great one liners! I highly recommend What We Do In The Shadows (2014) It has the same kind of fun watch aspect with lots of funny one liners.

Thanks for sharing, I'd forgotten how much fun it was!!
Just love, love, love this movie!!!! Thank you for covering this.... such a fab reaction. Tim Curry and Madeline Kahn were comedy gold😂💜
An All-Star cast! 😂
The redhead is Lesley Ann Warren.

Tim Curry will always be my favorite in "IT" that he was so great as Pennywise!!🤡🤡🤡🤡
Bro ya left out Tim Currys preference as the devil in Legend.
Eeeeeee!!!!!! 😃😀🤗 You’re reacting to my favorite movie!! 😄
Really hope you'll do mixed nuts at Christmas time!
They always talk of remaking this . . . good luck!

I love Clue!
I was Yvette in our high school version ☺
the idea to turn Clue into a movie came from John Cleese;
