I have had mine since January and given it a really through test it is a nice little radio for the money with the latest firmware update it has a great scan feature by holding down key one
The menu button works kind of like the function button. However not all the combinations seam to work. menu + 8/fm enables the radio for example. And menu + 5/rev reverses the tx/rx frequencies. Most other options seam to just navigate you to the matching menu option. Also long press 3/scn is the scan function and long press 1/sql allows you to save scan results.
Thanks and great question! To be honest it's a difficult one to answer. I love the versatility of the Quansheng and all the different firmware options and how developers have been able to allow features such as full HF RX, SSTV TX and APRS etc.. This video of the TIDRADIO TD-H3 was really my first experience with it so it's difficult to make a decision. I do already find some of the TD-H3 features and menus much easier to use than the Quansheng so I'm still undecided. At the end of the day it really depends what your after in a radio. Thanks for watching 👍
@@m7frs272 Thanks for the reply:). I know what you mean. No one has done a head to head, let’s say RXTX comparison, basing the scope on the capabilities let’s say on the H3
In menu 34, frequency hopping, would enabling it eliminate the scanner from locking up when it comes to a control channel? I have the H3 and the h8 in GMRS. Thank you for explaining each of the menu labels.
@@m7frs272 I have one last unboxing video going out sometime in the future as it is already done. I think straight to the point is what folk want these days.
The 'S' isn't in the manual as you say but i figured it out. It indicates whether or not the power save feature is on or off. I prefer not to see it so I leave power save off, besides the battery lasts a long time either way.
Can you explain option 18 for me, please? When I have the radio in FM mode on the A side and a GMRS channel on the B side I don’t see that option 18 has any effect regarding traffic on the B side GMRS channel. Regardless of whether option 18 is on or off I don’t hear the traffic on GMRS.
As a customer I have some suggestions, all radios should come with the manual in Portuguese, I know it can be translated, but it would be better to come in Portuguese, the Odmaster application would have to have the language in Portuguese, the radio should have the language in Portuguese and not just in English and Japanese, they had to make a video explaining all the radio menus, exemplifying each one of them to know how to use and configure...
I bought it mainly for the addition of Airband radio frequencies. It’s a nice full featured radio, but let’s be honest here. All these radios are far too small. Built and made for a collected hand and fingers. Need to make this same full featured radio in the H8 size. Trying to use the keypad is an exercise in frustration, much less reading the keys
I have no idea which "communication authorities" black list, is but theTidradio H8, H3, and every Quansheng model has the FCC approval number on a label at the back of each unit, since the Americans didn't like their markets flooded with Chinese radios they test for "spurious emissions" which radios have to pass, which is garbage anyway. As if your brand new five watt Tidradio, Radtel or Quansheng is going to bother anyone with microwatt size spurious spikes tested on an instrument, not even an antenna! Those folks at the FCC are the only ones testing, and the British & EU just take it from them. If you like a radio, just buy it, don't rely on ( especially) American RUclips testers, who overdo the FCC anti-Chinese radio line.
Looks like a Baofeng on steroids. Thanks for not boring us with 30 minutes of unboxing but hey people buy this for bluetooth so they can justify a new mobile phone?
cheap is wat you get with these chinese radios, ive collected all of them over last year, none made it over 4 months, mostly the recharbable battery goes fast. but you get wat you pay for, cheap! dont expect too much
This is the best explanation video for the TidRadio TD-H3! Thank you for this!
Thanks! Good review on the menus. 👍🏻 The "Breath" function can be good to use to let the user know the radio is still on after a time of no activity.
Thanks for the info and glad you enjoyed it 👍
Best explanation of the menu of all the videos i've seen!!
Thanks for watching, glad you found it useful 👍
Thank You!!!! you explained everything that I was missing. Loved the way you covered the screen icons and menus.
Thanks, glad you found it useful 👍

Thank you for that. Simple, but VERY informative. Subscribed. Keep them coming, please!
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 👍
The plug adaptor can go straight in the bin. Thanks for another great video. M7FSC
Agreed! Thanks for watching 👍
My Quansheng charger has like 3 components, is it safe?
Really enjoyed the menu run down, and explanations, nice vid
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching 👍

A great little radio. I think I may get another one. Easy to use and it seems to be more sensitive than all my other HT's.🍻
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for this. New to them and just got this :)
Glad you found it useful, thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for skipping the unboxing. Think most people can pretty much handle that without the tutorial.
Ben, great video mate. The question of the year, this or the Quansheng? Which one is your pick and why?😊

Bricked in a heartbeat on upgrade. No fix yet but lots of effort. I think it may be forever bricked. I'm wondering if it's a build date issue.
Excellent value little radio and a good job skipping the unboxing like yours truly..😂, Brill video Ben 73
Thanks Neil! In all honesty I'm too inpatient for unboxing. I'm more get it out, have a play, then do a video 😉
Thanks as always for your support 👍

What does the power save option do? There are more than just ON/OFF options in that menu.
Straight forward explanation.....

Very informative and well presented! Thank you from a beginner
Thanks for watching, glad you found it helpful 👍
Very nice review, thanks.

Hi do you know what the little S symbol represents, it seems to have disappeared off my screen and I'm not sure why? Thanks
Helpful video, thanks!
Glad you found it useful, thanks for watching 👍
The lower button below PTT buttons will exit DTMF

Hi, thank for watching. I don't work for TidRadio, but if you email them, they are quite helpful. Thanks for watching 👍
Press and hold a number key, and you will get the function it's assigned.
Thank mate 👍
Thanks for watching 👍
Skip thru menu functions by using the numeric keyboard.
Thank You! 🙏

What does the off mean on screen
The OFF will switch to CT / DCS when CTSS or DCS is on.
On the youtube channel pu4bla I saw this radio on 27 Mhz how did he do that?
I use the lanyard to put a carabineer on it and clip it to my belt loop so I don't lose the radio
Good idea 💡 thanks for watching 👍
The TD H8 is already on the black list with our communication authorities as well as about 95% of all models from Quansheng. Thanks for the video Ben!
Thanks for watching. What country are you in if you don't mind me asking?
