This is the perfect video I was looking for. I bought a Springfield 1911A1 Target 9mm and i'm going to replace the front sight with a fiber optic. I wanted to be sure which direction to remove the sight and install the new one. Also showing that there is a pin in the front sight to drift out was great. Thanks for posting. 😉
This video helped me a great deal. I'm getting ready to put adjustable sights on a 1911 and this is the best most informative video I've run across, and I've watched a few. Thank you.
The best 1911 sights installing video I've seen. You’re very thorough, giving in-depth details. I’ll use this instructional vid for a sight installation. I’d rather pay a professional gunsmith, but there’re none in my area. Shipping is too costly and time consuming. Thanks for posting.
Great videos even now, would love to see an updated one that is not so blurry. Some details are lost due to clarity. Still one of the best I have seen even now. Thank you for taking the time.
Thank you very much sir for taking time out of your day for this educational video, the best instructions that I have run across that was plain and simple for us DIY guys Thanks again!
Thanks Mark!! ***** Great vid brother! You've made my dovetail sight installation a breeze. Had to evenly rub the bottom of dovetail against my sharpening stone (per one of the tricks you mentioned) and after about 4 minutes I was finally able to get it started into slide. You may never see this, but if you Do: I have a new Springfield 1911 TRP .45 and if I understand you correctly I should use the .260 - .450 set for the 5” barrel? Would that size be the same for any sight? Novak’s as well? Thank you sir. Very informative and helpful even if I don’t do it myself. All my best and stay healthy.
Also backwards and wrong like everything else in this how to video. You always remove the same way as the ejection port ejects the cases. That would be left to right for removal and right to left for install. You can see a comment I posted over 2 years ago below. Of course some internet keyboard experts found flaw with it and think I am a asshole. No....people Google up something and the information they get is COMPLETELY WRONG!
I have a question. I have a kimber and i never change a sight before now i need to change it but a sight extremely tight from factory. The best way to punch a sight out for a first time is use brass punch and hammer right? Thanks for answer.
I used a brass punch and small brass hammer and had no issues on my Kimber. Put a little tape on the end of the punch and it will prevent the brass from marking the slide. Even if it does it's no big deal, just put a little gun oil on the brass mark and scrub it with a toothbrush and it will come right off.
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT VIDEO! I SUBSCRIBED! I just had the exact same sites installed on my Springfield. If I watched this video I could have saved $125.00... I'll save on my next gun lol..!
not to mention 70% of everyday gunsmiths are trash and will ruin your sights if lucky if not lucky your dovetail or gun .. better off doing it yourself if your the type to actually change and experiment with sights thoughout your shooting journey if your a real shooter its worth having the tools for a lifetime of adjustments and diy jobs
There's so many amateur blunders in this video I wouldn't hold it creditable for anything. First off mistaking "duct tape" for "masking tape" should have been the first clue. Any reknob weekend warrior with a tool belt and a credit card knows better than that, never mind a professional tradesman. Next you never use a torch on a firearm. Use a electric heat gun or use a soldering iron to heat the screw itself, not everything around it. Don't use acetone on firearm finishes or sights...it can/will melt or eat them off. Rubbing alcohol of 70% or higher would be far safer. Birchwood Casey Synthetic Safe Gun Scrubber would be good too. "SYNTHETIC SAFE"......!!!! I would never clamp a gun part in a vice with aluminum blocks and start whacking on it. Ain't you ever heard of wood dude? It crushes to fit the shape especially if it is pine and doesn't mar the finish. Instead of whacking on sights with punches, MGW sight pushers and Harbor Freight 1 Ton mini-presses work much much better. You use force and pressure, NOT blows! Last TruGlo sights suck........Novak on 1911s all the way and on some pistols Meprolight tritium night sights as well are far better. So much for "expert"......you're a legend in your own mind! I agree with ACP below. Very informative and understandable video. Thanks
Great video. Thanks for sharing very informative.
I installed Tru Glo TFO's on three of my CZ 75's and did have to sand the bases with 600 grit paper. Nice fit.
Great video! Very in depth and easy to fallow
Good site changing video...I'm curious about the pinned front and not repinned???
Really great video! Thanks for going into depth on the dovetail fitting
A very nice job and presentation

Great information for me. My TRP is seven years old and the sights are dimming.
Nice! Very helpful !😎
thank you very very helpful and informative
So, if the original front sight had a roll pin, is it not necessary to install another sight with a roll pin?
good job explaining

I just bought a MGW sight pro because i thought i will help me to make a work easy but I'm wrong. What is your recommend me to do?
I used a brass punch and small brass hammer and had no issues on my Kimber. Put a little tape on the end of the punch and it will prevent the brass from marking the slide. Can you do this on a mil-spec
On the rear yes, the front sight will need to be milled for a dovetail
Most mil spec 1911s don't have a dove tail front sight, so that would be a no... unless you have the ability to cut a dovetail

thanks i can show it to my online school

very nice vid and very detailed with instructions but that was painters tape not duct tape lol sorry
you caught me. LOL

A lot of bad reviews on these TruGlo sights and evidently customer service is nonexistent.
