Heyy, great video! So just to be sure, when there is a lesion on the gingival third, but located on the proximal side of the teeth, is it then classified as a Class II or Class V?
Love ur ques!♥that would be class 5 cuz It's still touching the gingival 3rd! No matter what,if the caries touches any area around the periphery of gingival 3rd in case of all teeth, it should be called a 5! If it lies a lil bit above on the proximal side & exceeds the gingival 3rd area, it would be called a 2. Edit: *[ sry I had lil mistake ;) the real answer is down below :3🙏so sorry~]*
If a lesion is on the proximal side of the tooth (mesial and distal) the lesion is class II. If the lesion is on the gingival third of the facial or lingual surface, the lesion is class V. Now if a tooth has both (lesion of class V and class II on the same tooth), which is very very rare because I personally have never seen this, then this will be named as the tooth is having Class II and Class V caries. Which again is very rare (if possible at all) because caries progression doesn't allow the lesion to extend in such a way. The lesion can however involve the occlusal surface for which we have a classification. (Sorry for the earlier reply, gave it in a hurry)
I have typed notes on various different topics on my instagram. You can follow the link below, that will direct you to my Instagram page, and the post on G.V.Black's classification of Dental Caries. instagram.com/p/CD69b-NJAc8/?igshid=13ngs8dkx4vaa You can take a screenshot of this. Im glad you liked it. Yes they can occur together or alone. Then we make a cavity accordingly, to eliminate the lesions. Although this is not that common in clinical practice.
From the books that I have read. I am pretty sure there were 6 classes from the start. You can ask an Operative Dentistry specialist, they can guide you more on this.
That will be classified in class 5 ( caries on gingival third) . You can watch the video for further examples and images, to clarify your confusion. Thank you.
Proximal is the mesial or distal surface. Interproximal means between the two proximal surface of two adjacent teeth. Like the interproximal area between the second and 1st molar has 2mm space means that the mesial surface of 2nd molar and distal surface of 1st molar has 2mm space.
NOTE: I have mispronounced "G" into "J". So the actual word is "G. V", and not "J. V" . It is my personal error. Thank you
Seriously , It's very good 🤩 , I always confused between these classes but know I able to teach other student thank you so much 🥳🥰

It will be classified as class V. Just like our fellow told earlier.

Thanks for this video. BTW, what happens if the cavity overlaps more than one classes? For example it's class I, II together?
Im glad you liked it. Yes they can occur together or alone. Then we make a cavity accordingly, to eliminate the lesions. Although this is not that common in clinical practice.
@@studywiththedentist If they do occur together, how do we name them? Is it class I or class II or both at that point?
Yes It can be called as class 1 and 2. But you can see more images on class 1 and 2 for further clarification.
@@studywiththedentist Great, thank you!
Kaash aap humare teacher hotay 🥺
Haha. Thank you 😊😅
Sir if a caries occur on the buccal surface of posterior teeth it will lies in which class?
If caries occurs on the buccal surface, it will be associated with either the cervical surface, the occlusal or either of the proximal surface.
Good vid🔥
I am glad they are helpful.
More are certainly on there way :)

Class VI is confirmed given by GV black???
As far as our books says....
@@studywiththedentist but it was added afterwards right? And when

This is the basic and most widely used classification, as proposed by G.V Black himself.

In which class is the caries in the middle third of the vestibule of the incisors?
You mean the cingulum area? I have told about the cingulum area of incisors in my video, if that is what you are asking
No, I don't mean cingulum area. I mean middele third of the labial surface of maxillari incisors.
That will be classified in class 5 ( caries on gingival third) . You can watch the video for further examples and images, to clarify your confusion. Thank you.
nice thank you
I am glad you liked it.
@@studywiththedentist you are doing a great job.

I'm so confused between interpromixal and proximal i can't make difference

i think i have a class 4 but im afraid to tell anyone bec my teeth haven’t been brushed in a while and im scared
Don't be afraid. That is what dentists are here for ;)
Someone explain to me the classe 4
Class 4 lesions are those that have involved the proximal as well as the incisal edges of the anterior teeth.
