What is that gold color??? I made one well it was a Daisy and it turned out really pretty and I set a Amber in the middle of the daisy and I gave it to my daughter for Mother’s Day.
Yours is just as pretty ❤❤❤❤

Hi Michelle, the gold colour is Keum-boo, a technique for applying gold foil to silver. It’s a process i’ve been learning at an evening class I attend. It was originally going to be set with Amber as a sun pendant but the teacher suggested turquoise so I went with that. I was also meant to film the gold process but managed to get distracted and forget … N

@@Nickscreativestuff well, that’s what I thought, but I don’t remember you using the kuem-boo technique. Anyway, I love the video.

The whole video was supposed to be about learning keum-boo at jewellery school. However when it came to the crucial moment I forgot to press record. Rather than discarding all the previously recorded processes I had to re-edit my video into being about model making.
i’ll have to put the keum-boo back on the to do list for another time … cheers … Nick

When you cast the piece what is the advantage or purpose of the 4 prongs, you cut off.?

because the model was quite thin I added 4 air vents to the cavity this allows the air to escape rapidly allowing the cavity to fill quickly before giving it a chance to solidify. as the cavity fills the silver overflows into the air vents creating the prongs that are cut off and recycled for another project … hope this makes sense … N

@@Nickscreativestuff yes it makes alot of sense, also I was thinking it would be a great way to have prongs if u need them lol 😂

Delft Clay can be a bit hit and miss sometimes with unexpected rustic results. i’ve not done much stone setting being so precise and refined. I have seen people achieve stone set castings, looks great when it works only achievable with heat resistant stones … N
