- I was not able find solution why my 2012 Kia Optima ex gdi is not working. If anyone faced similar problem and fixed it can you please let me know in the comments.
Not but not least, I came to know lot of people have same issues with Kia. Kia should consider this for a recall.
I ended up replacing the battery and it works fine now.
im having the same problem as well, but I’m being told it’s coming from my fuse box since there is also a whining noise. There’s no signs of warning lights. Usually I would just tap the fuse box and my car would just crank. Now it’s not turning over, it’s alerting me about tpms & also a “turn on fuse box” alert popped up on the screen. Also, my key will not let me unlock or lock my car doors. Im out of ideas and really depending on this car right now. Can someone help ?
This has happened to me a few times now with my 2012lx I'm on my 5th battery and just 63,000 km on the car... Good times!
Before u buy new battery check your alternator
Cuz if u have problem in your alternator your new battery will die
Can confirm, this is a bad battery issue. Had this happen to me last night. Battery was so bad it couldnt even be jumped, would not hold any charge under load and it was a 1 year old battery too. New battery started it right up with no problems.
There are gonna be more comments on this video post about this issue. Optima 2013 > Same exact problem as in video happened. One mechanic says engine seizure / failure. Burning smell from ac. Vehicle towed to Kia for comprehensive tests and physical check - Will update

I have the same issue, it just clicks and the dash lights flicker when I try to start. I’m in a 2013 optima. I’m not sure it it’s the battery, alternator or starter. Any thoughts?

Same here i have a 2013 optima sx 2.0 doing the same thing! Back story is my car shut down while diving good thing on a small slow street. Pushed to safety and now engine doesnt start. I do have power in windows ac alarm and radio, checked the battery and charged it. If the alternator was bad it would drain battery completely. Maybe the starter gave out? My brake pedal is also pressed down has tons of pressure. Anyone have the same problem? What fixed your issue? PLEASE HELP.
I had this problem today, followed by flickering lights and rapid clicks. I assumed it was the starter. I'll try a battery. Thanks
UPDATE: guess what my issue was? Ran out of gas! However my fuel gauge still slowed i had 30 miles to go until empty. Maybe the gas fuel reading sensor is messed up. AAA came to put gas and car started!

Same issue with my 2013 kia optima replaced it with new battery. The reason it does that because the battery does not have enough juice.

I have a 2016 kia bought it 5 months ago from a dealership as is lits finance ven thou paying for over $21000 et's see how this go. Look like just happend twice in matter of a week this winter.

Bad idea to leave the power on accessory mode on you shouldn't have just started the car I will not do that when I get my kia cerato gt never do that again if I see another video of this car I'm going to get really disappointed never do that again well I like your videos I like this video
While i was driving on the highway i sped up to about 95mph to pass a slow car and it just died while lights and AC stayed on. it’s not battery for me… hooked battery up to charger and has plenty of power. I am trying to start it with the push to start and it doesn’t even crank over. Checked flywheel teeth and they look fine. I don’t think my starter is turning it over like it should. What caused this car to die while in the middle of driving and why is it happening to everyone that owns this car? I have the 2012 SX Turbo edition
@@ryancarlucci7664 all the engines had a recall, well atleast here in Australia, they all were just dying, Kia replacing the whole engine for nothing.
@@ryancarlucci7664 Had the same problem, I was doing like 60 and it shut off out of nowhere, put in park turned it off, and turned back on but the gas and brake pedals didn't work, next day everything worked fine until I was in the parking area of my work all the lights came on brakes and gas didn't work again, didn't crank or start, I'm thinking it could be the alternator, or some type of electrical, my mom called KIA and they said they couldn't do anything about it, well it's "my fault" for not knowing I had a recall.. any updates so far?
@@michaelduran8392 take it to the closest Kia place near you and see if there was a recall on it and they will replace the engine for you.. and they’ll fix everything

It's probably your battery because of the airbag light , when you have a few attempts to start the car unsuccessfully , you'll have the airbag light when it's on accessory
My kia Rio 2019 (Middle east) Had same problem it's just the starter and battery problems
Replace battety. Next 12 months it will do the same thing
Check your alternator if u dont have a problem there then change your battery
looks like 12V battery was completely drained.
nomal 12V car battery's empty is about 10.8〜11.5V without load.
I FIRGED IT OUT You have to charge or replace the battery 🔋

I’m starting to think when he started the thing I looked at the gas and it said it was on E meaning empty so it’s possible he forgot to fuel his Kia with gas
For emergency, put the key next to the steering wheel then it will start

guys, my Optima Hybrid has same defect. Who figure out what is issue? my dealership change battery 2 days ago, but today defect come back again, and new battery is died.

It is the brake switch it is faulty get a new one
You just simply replace the battery, it will fix that problem.
It seems that you need to charge the battery
