BMW F 30 9 colour ambient lights

Did you have to put extra wires into your FEM? I have a 9 colour ambient light kit and the module plugs into the iDrive controller.. I can change the lights via preset menu number buttons but not via iDrive. I coded everything correctly but nothing appears to happen when I change the colours
