Me too! I wish I could have citrus trees here but no, it's snowy... But it won't be very long until I'll start growing from seed indoors all the vegetables and flowers for the next season. Last year I started chili peppers in January and that onwards there will be a lot to take care of. Now I'm really into houseplants too, so I'm quite restricted on space for the seedlings!

Brought it indoors around Labour Day and Outside Memorial Day. The only problem I had was a squirrel thinking the fruit was for him, then leaving it when he realized it wasn’t.😮

Why not take a drone shot of your outdoor space and then draw out your vision for it that way? I know walking it is important too since that should feel natural, but just seems like having an overhead view would help. Love the Christmas gifts for the guys, memorable and useful!

For those who don't have a drone, I suggest the quick-and-dirty route: Screenshots from your choice of Maps site.
Find your property on the Maps site, zoom in to screenshot and save.
I would also run around with a tape-measure to get everything to-scale on the Map.

We made our own terra preta with compost, charcoal, rock dust and horn shavings.
Might be interesting fo you as well.
There is a company from austria (Sonnenerde) that makes terra preta and on their youtube channel they even do scientific analysis of the soil before and after enriching it. They even have a 10 year old vegetable garden with their terra preta.
they say you never have to turn the soil or add any extra fertilizer as long as you keep the soil covered in mulch.

Ohdearlawd, you've inspired me to redesign my garden layout which includes digging up a 15'x15' section of grass! The new section will probably be a free-flowing patch for squash and melons and I'll need to rethink the layout of the 16 raised beds that I have running the perimeter of my yard and in one corner (I need to add a snack table too). 😆 I'm excited but also a little scared of the work it will require! I had better get me a boyfriend by March to help dig ha ha Thanks for the great ideas!

I would love to see y’all do an Epic food forest/guild set up.
    CanadianPermaculture Legacy
on youtube has some great videos that explain the science behind it, but his set up is kind of uncontrolled and it’s not really “epic” scale, more budget scale. It doesn’t LOOK all that great because/and he has more land than an average person.
Lots of youtubers have done food forests but I think Kevin’s organization, desire to make it look good, and tendency to take things to the “epic” maximum would all help fill a niche that has been missing.
I think you also mentioned wanting some burms and swales to help capture rain water on the slope you have? Teaching about building on contour could be a great video.
If you got into more native EDIBLE plants I think it’d be more than just entertaining it’d help make a difference in ecology as people see how good natives taste, how great they look, and how well they work along side traditional plants.
    😊
